year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carpenter of route one had a bone fractured
and one pulled from the socket of the right elbow, while at school at Calais,
Thursday. The accident was rather unusual and happened in the gymnasium. The
boy was resting his arm on a basketball and a larger boy fell across it. Dr.
Romans, Batesville, rendered medical assistance.

The annual reunion
of the Schneider family was held August 9th at the old home, east of
Woodsfield. This was the first time the relatives of this family have gathered
there in eighteen years. A basket dinner was enjoyed and a good time held by

What is considered a
record for grandparents is held by baby Ronald Wyscarver,
of near Kennonsburg, six month old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Wyscarver, Ronald's grandparents number
thirteen, all but one of whom reside in that community within a radius of
fifteen miles.
Baby Ronald rightfully
claims all four of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Long, and Mr. and Mrs.
William Wyscarver. The child has seven living
great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rich, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wyscarver, and Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Long. Another
great-grandparent resides in a western state. In the fifth generation there are
three great-great-grandparents living. They are Mr. and Mrs. Roland Danford, of Salesville, and Mrs.

Woodsfield, June 28 - at a colorful morning nuptial ceremony of
impressive simplicity Wednesday morning at the Catholic church in Miltonsburg. Miss Vera Paulus became the bride of
Karl Kress.
The Rev. George Drescher, rector, officiated
before a gathering of relatives and intimate friends. For her maid of
honor and only attendant, the bride had chosen Miss Kathleen Kress. Oscar
Kress, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man.
Mrs. Bernard Kress, Woodsfield, presided at the organ console and during
the arrival of the guests played a medley of wedding selections. During
the exchange of vows she softly played several selections and for the entrance
or the wedding party, the traditions "Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's
"Lohengrin" was used.
Mrs. Kress is the daughter of Mrs. Rose Paulus Hoff, of near
Mr. Kress is the son of Mrs. Mary Ann Kress and the late Frederick
Kress. He is manager of the Modern Chevrolet company.
At the termination of the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the
home of the bride's mother, with covers laid for the bridal party and members
of the immediate families
Ullman, Henry and Caroline Schwartz Ullman 50th/Golden Wedding Anniversary
Ullmans' Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary March 16, 1940
Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ullman
gathered at their home, near Stafford, on Saturday, March 16th, to help them
celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Ullman have spent their entire wedded life on
a farm cosily nestled in the hills of Franklin
Township.
After the arrival of the guests, they were called to order
by a son, Walter Ullman. of Lewisville, who briefly
revealed the plans of the afternoon and extended to all a most hearty welcome.
Mrs A. H. Ullman Played a
piano march which brought all guests to the livingroom
with Mr. and Mrs. Ullman in the center. Vocal duets were rendered by two
granddaughters, Mrs. Eunice Mallett and Mrs. Irene
Hogue, with Mrs. Helen Ullman accompaining. Rev. Wm.
R. Walch, pastor of Lewisville Evangelical and
Reformed Church, read a passage of Scripture and gave some very timely remarks
commemorating the occasion. Short remarks were given by A. H. Ullman of
Cleveland, after which lunch was served to the following guests:

Announcement has been made of the marriage of Mrs. Alma Bigler, of Woodsfield and Hamilton Highman,
of the Woodsfield, Graysville road. The ceremony was performed Saturday night
at 11:30 o'clock at the home of the bride in the presence of Everett Highman, son of the bridegroom; Lawrence Bigler, a son of the bride; Mrs
J. V. A. Traylor and daughter Barbara, of Woodsfield. Minister J.
V. A. Traylor officiated at the exchange of vows.
The bride was attired in a beige crepe dress with which she
wore brown accessories.
The bride is employed as a clerk in the M. & K. Store in
Woodsfield, while her husband is employed with the State Highway Department in

until September 1, which they will move to Mr. Highman's
home on the Woodsfield- Graysville road.

"Local Woman Is 100"
Mrs. Belinda Rouse, who celebrated her one-hundredth birthday Tuesday of
this week, was honored with a beautiful orchid from the famed Tom Breneman of Hollywood, Calif. Tom Breneman
is master of ceremonies on a popular program, "Breakfast in
Hollywood" and upon hearing of Mrs. Rouse's 100th birthday anniversary
sent her the appropriate greeting for which he is famous.
Mrs. Belinda Evelyn Nally Rouse was born in
Her late husband, George W. Rouse, was a veteran of the Civil War. She
married him in 1863 and they were the parents of fourteen children. But five of
the children are still living.

Wise of Barberton, Ohio. The bride chose
for her wedding a grey suit with which she wore black accessories. Her corsage was of red roses. A wedding dinner was served on Sunday at the

Graham, also of Woodsfield, Route 2 were united in marriage.
The single ring ceremony was read by Rev. O. O. Wilson at

The bride was attired in a street length dress of teal blue
crepe with which she wore white a white accessories. Her corsage was of pale
pink carnations.
Miss Betty Graham, sister of the groom, attended as maid of
honor. She wore a shell pink dress with white accessories. Her corsage was also
of pale pink carnations.
The groom wore a gray pinstriped suit and a pink carnation
in his lapel. Mr. Bill Graham served his brother as best man. He wore a brown
suit with a pink carnation in his lapel.
The bride attended The Woodsfield High School. Mr. Graham
attended
The happy young couple are now making their home with the
bride's parents. Their many friends extend congratulations and best wishes.

On Saturday evening, June 18, 1949 Reverend Elmer A. Gradwohl
read the single ring ceremony at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church in
Woodsfield which united in marriage Miss Virginia Claus, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Gilbert Claus of Route 1,
For her wedding, the bride wore a street length dress of pink with white
accessories.
The only attendants at the wedding were the bride's parents and sister, Miss
Vivian Claus, and Mrs. Gradwohl.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm are residing at the home of the groom's parents on
The following day, Sunday, June 19th, a wedding dinner was served at the home
of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Christman,
on route 1,
This was a double celebration, it also being the forty-ninth wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Christman. Mrs. Christman is the former Miss Lena Matz.
They have always resided in this community.
Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Christman, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Buss of Apple Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Claus, children, Alvin and
Vivian; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kahrig, children, Marion,
Lena, Lewis and Marlene; Miss Elma Christman; Mr. and
Mrs. George Kahrig and children, Wayne, Letha, Viola,
Lillian, Meredith, Wilford and Edilene;
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Claus, son Roger, and the honored guests, Mr. and Mrs.
George L. Christman and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Wilhelm.
Two of the Christman sons were unable to be present.

Harold William Ensign - Irma Jean Highman marriage

In a double
ring ceremony performed on Saturday afternoon, June seventeenth, at one o'clock,
Miss Irma Jean Highman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Highman, of Litchfield, Ohio, became the bride
of Mr. Harold William Ensign, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ensign, of Spencer,
Ohio, in a lovely lawn wedding at the home of the bride, with Rev. Walter T. Hinzmann officiating.
Preceding the
ceremony, Miss Wilma Stocker sang "Because" and "I Love You
Truly." She was accompanied by Miss Glenna Ayrock.
Given in
marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a princess style gown of white
slipper satin. The high, round neckline yolk was of
Miss Betty
Foraker, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Her short sleeved gown was of
yellow marquisette and featured the bertha collar. Bridesmaids were Miss Jo Ann
Highman, sister of the bride, and Miss Ruth Curtiss,
cousin of the bride. They wore short sleeved gowns of blue satin with
overskirts of blue net. They carried blue and yellow Shasta daisies.
Mr. Charles
Ensign served his brother as best man. Both he and the groom were dressed in
light blue suits and wore a white carnation in their lapel.
The bride's
mother wore a gray bemberg dress with blue
accessories and a pink carnation corsage. The mother of the groom wore a powder
blue dress with white accessories and a yellow carnation corsage.
Immediately
following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride, with one
hundred guests attending.
After the
reception the newlyweds left on a short wedding trip. For traveling the bride
chose a blue nylon dress with blue accessories and a white carnation corsage.
The newlyweds
are now residing in Litchfield.

St. Agnes Rectory in Iron River, Michigan, was the scene of
a double ring wedding service on Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 1950, when
Francis Borns, son of Fred Borns
and the late Iris Borns, West Cayuga Street, Iron
River, Michigan, and Sarah C. Matz of Wheeling, West
Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Matz of
Woodsfield, Ohio exchanged nuptial vows in
the presence of the Reverend Fr. James L. Donnelly, curate.
The bride was attired in a blue grey wool suit with navy
accessories. The matron of honor was Mrs. Leonard Ponozzo,
while Mr. Ponozzo was Mr. Borns'
best man.
The matron of honor wore a toast brown suit with brown
accessories. The bride wore a shoulder corsage of red rosebuds; and the matron
of honor, a shoulder corsage of yellow rosebuds. Mrs. William Swanson, aunt of
the bridegroom, wore an orchid corsage.
