A special project has been initiated to make important historical records of Monroe, Belmont, Noble and Pickaway Counties, Ohio available to researchers and to the general public at a reasonable price.  Entire record books have been photographed and put onto CDs.  Every detail of each page and of each record has been captured in the photos of these record books.  By working with these CDs every detail of information is at your fingertips.  In most cases, the price of each CD is far less than the cost to travel to the respective County Courthouses.  The high pixel photography used in these photos provides outstanding reproduction of each page.  In most cases, using the enlargement or zoom feature of your computer results in the ability of figure out handwriting easier than from the original document.  And, all this can be done in the comfort of your own home, on your own time-schedule, and using nothing more than the CD-ROM drive of your own computer.

Note (1)   The CDs of record books are prepared from photographs of pages from the actual record books.  Some of these books have an index of their contents.  Other books are subdivided into sections according to the alphabet.  The CDs include the index where they are available and the alphabetical organization is preserved for those books that do not have an index.  In the future (over the next 2 years) we expect to construct a computer searchable index (CSI) for many of the record books.  This will greatly enhance the value of the CDs to researchers by allowing your computer to do the searching (by name) for you.  Because the present CDs do not have a CSI we plan to offer to purchasers of the presently available CDs, an upgrade (at cost about $3.50) as the CSIs become available.  Please include your e-mail address so that we can notify you when these upgraded CDs are available.  Your e-mail address will be secure with us.  We do not sell or otherwise compromise the security of client s personal information or e-mail addresses.

Note (2)  Ohio residents please add $0.70 for each CD purchased to cover Ohio and county taxes.  CDs cannot be shipped until payment has been received.

Note (4)   While not a CD, the book titled Highlights in the History of the First United Methodist Church of Woodsfield, Ohio written by Elizabeth Ogden and John Ogden is recommended as a companion to the Woodsfield Methodist Church CDs.  It is a defining book that provides extensive background for the CDs.  The book is an exciting story of dedicated ministers, abolitionists, a congressman who was an eyewitness to the Lincoln assassination, a female POW during the Civil War, and many more.   This 215 page, soft-bound book sells for $28.50.  The CD order form can also be used to order this book.
