LEWISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Lewisville High School -
Photo taken about 1979
About
1930 this new red-brick high school was constructed in Lewisville as a
replacement for the wooden high school located
near by. This red-brick school served as the Lewisville High School until
around 1958 when Skyvue opened at Stafford and the high school students from
Lewisville, Graysville, and Bethel High Schools went to Skyvue at the Stafford
location.
The first class to graduate
from the new red-brick Lewisville High School was in 1931. The graduates were: Irene Geldmacher, Lucille Harper, Melba Heft Beulah
Heft, Florence Lumbatis, Edna Pickens, Ruby Lumbatis, Martha Pennell, Grace
Weber, Ildreth Longfellow, Leola Lumbatis, Sennon Zwick and Kermit Longfellow.
In
1966 a new Skyvue High School was constructed on
Hartshorn Ridge and the Stafford Skyvue High School was moved. Then, in 1994 Skyvue High School became Skyvue Elementary School and the high school was moved to
Monroe Central High School about 12 miles east of Woodsfield, Ohio on Ohio
Route # 78.
At
the time the above photo was taken in 1979 the school served as an elementary
school. With the formation of the
Skyvue Elementary School on Hartshorn Ridge, this red-brick high school
building was renamed to the Lewisville Community
Center. It is now used for various
functions such as the annual High School Alumni Banquets. For another view of this building taken in
September 2002 click on the Lewisville Community Center above.
