Vernon Seebach, 46, Lewisville, Ohio, died Sunday, January 31,
1971, at Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio. He had undergone surgery
there last week.
Born February 5, 1924, at
Mr. Seebach leaves his wife, the former Louise Drum Craig;
two daughters, Mrs. Melody Wilson of Summerfield and Laurie Ann of the home;
five sons, Stephen, Charles, Carl, Paul and Glenn and two stepsons, Duane and
Kevin Craig, all of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Balluff, Gahanna, and
Mrs. Fred Rose, Canton, Ohio; four brothers, Elmer and Jerry of
Woodsfield, Roger William of Lewisville, and Earl of Canton, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bauer
and Turner Funeral Home here with Minister John Hendershot officiating. Burial

Mrs. Rose Moose Paulus, 84, of 139 North Main Street, widow

She was born September 25, 1886, near Lewisville, the

Mrs. Paulus was a
member of the Woodsfield United Methodist Church.

Woman Dies In
Portage Collision
RAVENNA -- A 57-year-old Portage County woman was killed
Thursday night in a head-on crash on Ohio 18 about a mile west of Ohio 225 in
Palmyra Twp.
Mrs. Mabel Rigenbach [sic] of 3432 State Rt. 225, Palmyra
Twp. was pronounced dead at the scene about 6:30 p.m. She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Edwin,
58. He is "fair" today in
Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
The Highway Patrol said the driver of the othr car,
Connie Kaeen, 17, of 2569 Industry rd.,
Atwater Twp., was eastbound on Ohio 18 when her car went left of center and
collided with the Rigenbach car. She
also is "fair" in Robinson.

The 1972 Portage County traffic toll now stands at 30

He was associated with his brothers in the car business in
Batesville for 44 years.
Born Feb. 28, 1898 in Batesville, he was the son of George
H. and Viola Matilda Reed Atkinson and was a member of Batesville United
Methodist Church. He also belonged to Quaker City Lodge 500,
F&AM, Quaker City Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Scottish Rite Valley of
Cambridge.
Mr. Atkinson leaves his wife, the former Margaret Calvert,
whom he married Jan. 20, 1922; two
sisters, Mrs. Carrie Roe, Batesville and Mrs. Blanche Denis, Columbus; two brothers, Charles R. and John Atkinson,

QUAKER CITY--Mrs. Margaret J. Atkinson, 74, Batesville,
died at 3:30 A.M. today (Aug. 26, 1975) at a Cambridge hospital where she had
been a patient since 1972.
She was born Sept. 9, 1900 in
Houston, Texas, moving to Ohio with her family at an early age. She was the
daughter of Ernest and Ada Everett Calvert and was a member of Batesville
United Methodist Church and the past matron of Quaker City Chapter 177 Order of
Eastern Star.
Mrs. Atkinson leaves one sister,
Mrs. Florence Haupt, St. Clairsville; several cousins, nieces, nephews,
sisters-in-law. Her husband George, died March 22, 1972. Services for Mrs. Atkinson will be 2
P.M. Thursday at Eberle Funeral Home here, with burial to follow in Batesville
Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral
home will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday. Eastern Star services will

Mr. Ackerman was a partner in the Ackerman Brothers Garage
in Woodsfield. He was a member of

Woodsfield. He was a veteran of World War II.

Saginaw General Hospital after a lingering illness. Age 64 years. He was born
May 16, 1913, in Middleport, Ohio. He
was a member of the Swan Valley United Methodist Church, the Solar Lodge No.
592 of Saginaw, also the Evangeline Chapter of the Eastern Star in Middleport,
Ohio. He served with the U.S. Navy
during World War II. He was employed by

C. Paulus, 1221 West Palm avenue, a Redlands resident for 18 years, died here
Friday at the age of 80.
Mr.
Paulus, a native of Woodsfield, Ohio, became active in the community after
moving to Redlands. He was a member of
the Redlands Rotary club, Redlands Lodge 300 F & AM and affiliated with the
Masonic order for 53 years; a member of Redlands Lawn Bowling club and Smiley
Heights AARP chapter.
He
served with the U.S. Navy during World War I.
Mr.
Paulus leaves his wife, Ruth, of Redlands; a son, John L. Paulus, M.D., and a
daughter, Mrs. Ruth A. Senour, both of Redlands; a brother, John L. Paulus of
Massillon, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Niesz of Massillon and Mrs. Ethel
Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wedneday at the F. Arthur Cortner chapel with

9:25 p.m. Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Ruggles, 10750 Blott

Mrs. Dierkes was born April 8, 1898, in Clarington, a daughter of
Jacob and Emma Wichterman Lude, and came here 56 years ago. She was a member of
the First Federated Church of North Jackson and its King's Daughters Class and
Women's Fellowship. Her husband, Wesley H., whom she married in June 1916, died
in April 1978.
She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Martha Ryser of Hubbard, Mrs.

Leslie J. Staley, 49, of RD 1 Middlebourne, died Monday at
Surviving are his parents, Leslie C. and Vashti Fluharty
Staley; a daughter, Carla Staley of New Martinsville; a stepdaughter, Constance
Greathouse Beegle of Colliers; two sisters, Mrs. Lee (Imogene) Fetty of Pine
Grove and Mrs. Carl (Wanda) Lancaster of Porters Falls; two brothers, Karl of
Reader and Robert of Middlebourne.
Friends were received at the Ratcliffe Funeral Home, New
Martinsville, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, where services were held at 1
p.m. Thursday. Evangelist John

JOHN DALE STALDER, son of W.O. and Lulu Bower Stalder, was
born on April 24, 1906. He passed away
at the
Dale was born in
Dale worked as a carpenter, electrician and state hospital
employee most of his life. He has been
retired the past few years.
He is survived by his wife Frances, son Larry Dean,
daughter-in-law Ann Marie, grandson, Shane Allen; four sisters, Ruby Greenfield
of Villisca, Esther Anderson of Tarkio; Ruth Lampe of Winterset and Marie
Pullen of Denver; one brother Harold of Dawnington, Penn; several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother,
one brother and grandson.
Services were held Saturday, April 19, 1980 at the Wolfe
Funeral Home in
Music was provided by Mrs. Hartford Cooper, organist and
Mr. Hartford Cooper, soloist. Musical,
selections were

Casketbearers were Jerold Greenfield, Lee Fulton, Sam

Coughlan, Helen A. McManus, 79, of Rd. 3, Elm Grove, died
Thursday at home. She was a member of
St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. Couglan in 1977. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James
(Maureen) Thompson with whom she resided; two sons, Elmer F. of Wheeling and
Paul W. of Sterling Heights, Mich.; eight grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Altmeyer
Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9

away Monday evening, June 2, 1980, at her home after a lengthy illness. Age 70 years. Katie Turner was born Sept. 27, 1909, in Woodsfield, Ohio. She was married to Charles W. Swisher in
1942. He predeceased her in 1977. Mrs. Swisher was a member of the Eastern
Stars Evangeline Chapter No. 172 of Middleport, Ohio. She was a member of the Swan Valley Methodist Church. Surviving are five sisters and one brother,
Roger Turner, Olney, Ill.; Mrs. Bessie Walters, Saginaw; Billie Palmer, Gladwin;
Bernice Starr, Toledo, Ohio; Mary Agin, Circleville, Ohio; Nell Jones,
Graysville, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place 11:00
a.m. Thursday at the Case Chapel, 409 Adams St. Rev. Gordon Nusz will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial
Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel
from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society.
