The Children s
Home was a county institution for the care of orphan children. The building was constructed in 1888 at a
cost of $17,000. It provided clothes and
tuition to children under the age of 16 years.
In 1906 the Superintendent of the facility was G. W. Pugh. The building was located on the site of the
present day Monroe County Public Library on Eastern Ave.
