CARSON CEMETERY

This cemetery is not located in Monroe County but is found just south of the county line in Grandview Township, Washington County, Ohio. It is on a steep hillside west of State Route 7. We are including it here because it was the burial ground of residents from the vicinity and town of Cochransville. Cochransville was laid out in 1846 by Thomas Cochran and was first known as Cochran s Landing. Cochran hoped that it would provide a good shipping point for his business but the town was plagued by floods which gradually destroyed the town. Cochransville came to an end in 1914 when a flood took the last part of the town.
