COAT OF ARMS

Information furnished as per Coat of Arms Books, volume #7,

the following information is given under the name of Burkhardt

BURKHARDT

Burkhardt is the name of an old German resident dating back to the 15th century, born in the Province of Schleswig holstein.

It is recorded that the fisher and Captain Henrik Alois Burkhardt in the year of 1768 had been decorated for outstanding services to the Nation by the Prussian Royal Court, and was presented with the Service Medal of the Golden Fish.

Further, with the Coat of Arms on parchment.

H. A. Burkhardt turned the sea battle against the Danish invasion fleet at Skakerag into a great victory for his Nation. By the same token, H. A. Burkhardt was the last one of this (branch). He continuously exposed his life to the nature of sea while catching fish. (Fish catching trips, which he conducted as a Captain).

Later descendants of this family made names for themselves as Captains of transatlantic voyages, physicians, and attorneys.

Members of this family migrated partially to other Provinces of Germany. Others again emigrated to Denmark, Norway, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, and later, even to America.

Jacob Burkhart,42 year old bachelor veteran of the World war was found dead in his

Brown Gulch cabin late Wednesday, the lower part of his head shot away by a high

powered rifle.

All indications pointed to suicide and Acting Coronor Eugene McCarthy said he was satisfied that the man had killed himself. He apparently had placed the rifle barrel in his

mouth and discharged the weapon.

Burkhart's body was discovered by a neighbor boy who passed the cabin where the man

had lived alone. Investigating , McCarthy said he found no notes or other evidence left
