Biographical Sketch of Secrist
Kinkade
Ben F. Dixon's book 1932, Our Book:
Our Ancestors, Ourselves, and Our Children , Pages 223-224, says:
Secrist Kinkade, son of David Kinkade (P. 9) and Rebecca Osborn,
was born Oct. 28, 1828, at Marietta, Ohio.
He died July 12, 1913, at Rose
Hill, Iowa, and was buried in the Wymore Cemetery at Rose Hill. He married Dec. 24, 1853, in Shelby Co.,
Ind., Elisabeth Spillman, daughter of Charles Frank Spillman (P. 16) and
Catherine McCense. . . He removed to
Toulon, Stark County, Ill. where all of his children were born. He lived there 40 years and removed in the
spring of 1894, to Rose Hill, Iowa, where he resided the remainder of his life.
Page 3---In 1908, Secrist
Kinkade, the youngest son of David and
Rebecca, wrote his
grand-nephew, E.S. Kinkade, Jr., saying that David
Kinkade's wife was Rebecca
Osborn. Since Uncle Seek's mother lived
until about 1842, fourteen years
after the birth of the youngest child,
the clear statement of
Secrist that his mother's maiden name was Osborn
would
seem to be sufficient to resolve any further doubt along this line.
