Biographical Sketch of Sarah Spilman Kinkade

Sarah Spilman born 11/18/1830, Shelby County Indiana, died 4/17/1875 Clark County MO, Peakesville Cemetery, married 6/14/1851 Ebenezer Stansberry Kinkade. Sarah was the oldest child of Charles Frank Spilman and Catherine McCanse. Her husband usually called Eben was born 7/27/1827 and was the son of Andrew Kinkade and Nancy Tingley.

Eben and Sarah were married in Shelby County Indiana; they moved on into Stark County Illinois and occupied a farm along Spoon River near Toulon in 1855. In 1869 they moved to Sandusky Iowa where their son James was born. In 1875 we find them on a farm in Peakesville, Sweet Home Twp in Clark County Mo and that is where Sarah died.

Sarah became the mother of 14 children, three of whom died in infancy. She laid down her own mantle of life at Peakesville, Mo., April 17, 1875. She was buried in the village cemetery at Peakesville, side by side with Mary Cronin, the first wife of David Kinkade, brother of her husband Ebenezer.
