William H. Dunn
I
am hoping that you can give me a hand with an Ohio history mystery. When
John Wesley Powell led the famous first expedition down the Colorado River in
1869, one of his boatmen was named William H. Dunn. Because Dunn perished
on the trip, historians never had a chance to learn anything about him, not
even his age or where he was born. But there was one clue in the record
that he might have been from Ohio. I would like to pursue this clue
further. I would hope that this mystery might interest some Ohio
genealogists or historians, who might dig into local records, most likely from
the 1830s to 1850s. Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
