Note from Betty Kitchen: Although my grandmother was named Effie Jane (Schaub) Latta, no one called her Effie. They called her Peggy. I asked once how she got that name, and I was told because either she or her husband liked it. I don't remember which it was, but the name Effie wasn't a favorite one in the household.
