Summer View of Sardis, Ohio

With Ohio River and West Virginia in the Background

The picture was probably taken between 1891 and 1907.  The new Methodist Church began construction in 1907 and  it is not in this picture.  The church that you can see in the picture was the Methodist Church that became the Church of Christ and is now the Union Building for the Steelworkers.  The Case Building is the large building you can see in the picture but is difficult to point out unless one is familiar with the town. It was built in 1891.  It is still standing and is now Marv's Restaurant.  The two-story, dark brown building with a bell tower, on the right side of the photo is the school.
