BIOGRAPHICAL
SKETCH OF REGINALD HEBER LATTA (b.23 Jul 1893;d.18 Jan
1957)
Written by Betty Latta Kitchen
He was named after the British hymn writer, Reginald
Heber (1783-1826), who wrote Holy Holy Holy as listed on page 50 of the
Beginners Choir Songbook which belonged to my grandmother, Effie (Schaub)
Latta. Jan Edith Latta wrote in 1999,
"Uncle Doc (Allen Latta) and his wife Mary were divorced about the time
Heber was through college and maybe medical school. Heber started practice in
Graysville and Uncle Doc moved to Caldwell and started a new practice. Heber
and his mother and Heber's different wives lived in the house Uncle Doc built,
and his office was next door in a small building. " [A note in a volume
belonging to the Monroe County Genealogical Society, p. 4l7, says regarding
Graysville, "In the l940's the population dropped to l70. At that time the
town had one physician, Dr. Latta, and two stores were still in
operation."]
