Rebecca (Buell or Bull) Mendenhall (1827-1863)
In
1863, the Indians were rebelling and all of the men were out fighting them.
Rebecca had just given birth to her son, John, a day or so before. The Indians
broke down the door of the cabin and when they saw just a woman and children
they left. Rebecca went into shock and died because she was so frightened. She
was initially buried on their farm but later moved to the Weaver Lake
Cemetery. Baby John died later and his body was placed with hers.
