1. Ephraim JONES was
born on 12 Aug 1751 in Woodbridge, Middlesex, New
Jersey.1
Between 1778 and 1782 he was a shoemaker in Muncy
Township, Northumberland, Pennsylvania.2
He served in the military Revolutionary War in 1779 in Pennsylvania.2
They arrived in Monroe
County in 1796.[i][1]
Ephraim died after 1832 at the age of 81 probably in Monroe County, Ohio.

Phoebe HARNED was born between 1760 and 1770. She died after 20 Dec
1832 at the age of 72 in probably Monroe
County, Ohio. Ephraim
Jones married Phoebe Hornet/Harned 19 Jul 1773 in Middlesex Co. NJ. They
appeared in the census in 1790 in Northumberland
County, Pennsylvania.

"The Jones family emigrated
from England
and were of Welsh blood. They came at an early date, prior to the Revolutionary
War to the colonies. The original family of brothers were divided in the war sentiment;
out of the three or four brothers, only one was true to the Colonial Army and
this one was the father of Judge John Jones. One brother resided in Baltimore and returned to England,
leaving a large amount of real estate which was confiscated by the U.S.A.
"John and another brother moved
from New Jersey; the brother procured a farm
on Cranes' Nest Creek near Newcastle
in Monroe Co. OH. He erected a mill on the stream. He was the father of a large
family. The boys were Abraham, Asher, Hamilton, and Lewis. There were at least
three girls.
"John Jones settled on Bull Creek, Virginia,
(now in Wood County, WV) where about 1794, he married Lillie
Benjamin. He moved to the Scioto Valley about 1802 and thence to a farm north of Newark, OH,
where his wife, Lillie died in 1802. He with James Atkinson moved their
families from near Newark, OH
to the Ohio Valley
where he bought a farm on Proctor Creek in Virginia (now WV) opposite
Clarington, Monroe Co. OH where Sunfish Creek empties into the Ohio River. He then removed and settled on Sunfish Creek
at Jonesville, below Cameron, Monroe Co.; here he erected a mill on the farm,
which operated as a saw and grist mill."

was born in 1774 in Pennsylvania.
He lived in Licking County,
Ohio in 1802. He lived in Sunfish
Creek, Salem Township,
Monroe, Ohio
in 1813. Between 1815 and 1823 John was an Associate Judge in Monroe County, Ohio. He died in 1852 at the age of 78 in Monroe County, Ohio.
John Jones lived in Northumberland Co.PA as a school boy (Licking Co. OH
history said he accidentally met in the woods of Ohio, Isaac Stadder, a schoolmate from
Northumberland Co. PA.) He lived in Bull Creek, Wood Co. WV 1792-1800, in
Licking Co. OH 1800-02, at Proctor, Wetzel Co. WV 1802-15, Salem Twp., Monroe
Co. OH 1815-52. He served as a judge in
Monroe Co. John was married three times.
Most of John's children's information came from Sandy Hall.
Deborah UNKNOWN was born in 1796 in Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in
1860 in Salem Township,
Monroe County, Ohio. John JONES and Deborah UNKNOWN were
married after 1822.
Lillie BENJAMIN was born in 1772. She died in 1802 at the age of 30.

BENJAMIN had the following children:

Stephen ATKINSON was born on 17 Jun 1793 in Waynesburg, Greene, Pennsylvania.

was born in 1798. The only Phoebe Jones marriage I found in Belmont County
was Phebe J. Jones to William Schofield 13 Jun 1839.
Leonard COLEMAN, son of Leonard COLEMAN and Eunice PIERSON, was born
(date unknown). Phoebe JONES and Leonard COLEMAN were married in Belmont County, Ohio.

JONES was born on 25 Mar 1800 in Wood
County, West Virginia.
He died on 19 Dec 1876 at the age of 76 in Paris, Edgar, IL.

married 2nd Rebecca M. Morris of Virginia, b 3-15-1828 d/o Alanson Morris.
Lydia SCHOFIELD was born in 1812. She died on 6 Jan 1853 at the age
of 41 in Monroe County, Ohio.3
Johnson L. JONES and Lydia SCHOFIELD were married on 17 Apr 1838 in Monroe County, Ohio.3
Rebecca MORRIS, daughter of Alanson MORRIS and Mrs. MORRIS, was born
on 15 Mar 1828. She died on 15 Feb 1916 at the age of 87 in Belmont County, Ohio.4

He appeared in the census in 1840 in Mead
Township, Belmont, Ohio.
He lived in Lewis County, Missouri in 1841. Asher died before 1850 at the age
of 65.

"Polly" COLEMAN, daughter
of Leonard COLEMAN and Eunice PIERSON, was born in 1795. She appeared in the
census in 1850 in Lewis County, Missouri. She died after 1850 at the age of 55.

Jacob C. Jones, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Belmont County, Ohio, in
1828. He is the eight of ten children of Capt. Asher and Mary (Coleman) Jones,
the former of Welsh ancestry, and born in Virginia in 1785. The grandfather was a spy
in the Revolution, and some years after settled in Ohio as a farmer. Asher went with him, and
for several years was a keel boatman on the Ohio
and Kenawa Rivers .

Monroe County Death record lists age at death as 82y 7m 9d which would make her
birthday Jan 1806 instead. Catharine was buried in Jones
Family Cemetery,
Green Township,
Monroe, Ohio. The Drips name is found in Greene County, PA,
where Catharine was born. Some of the
family of Thomas Drips of Ireland, settled in southwestern Pennsylvania. In the 1880 census, Catharine gave her
father's birthplace as Ireland.
James JONES and Catharine DRIPS had the following children:
