He had been in poor health for two years, and for one year had been unable to go about. The decedent was seventy-eight years of age. he was born at Miltonsburg, and lived there and at Woodsfield until coming to this place seventeen years ago.

Mr. Haren volunteered at the outbreak of the Civil War and after serving two years, was invalided out of the service. As a man, he had qualities of determination and will to carry on to a successful termination

whatever he undertook, and it was but seldom that he did not succeed. He was a man of few words, and therefore did not have many intimate friends, but those to whom he gave his confidence knew him as one who was true to his vows and beliefs, and ready at all times to meet the obligations of life.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Charles Haren of Woodsfield, William Haren of Cleveland; and a daughter, Mrs. Charles Ellis of this city.
