Death certificate #35075 Newport Township of Washington Co., is for Jacob G. Herlan, married, who was born Jan. 15, 1843 and lived 73 years, 4 months, and 21 days. He was a farmer, born in Monroe Co. to Fredrick Herlan from Germeny [sic] and Jane Mendenhall from Washington, Ohio. Mrs. Mary Day [his daughter] of Marietta, Ohio, was the informant. Dr. W. H. Nietsalf [sic?] signed that Jacob died May 6, 1916 from cancer of the bladder. He was buried May 8 in the Hills Cemetery.
