BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF ALLEN
FOREST LATTA (15 Feb 1869 - 22 Feb 1934)
Allen Forest Latta taught school for awhile to
make money for medical school. His
invitation to his graduation from the Louisville Medical College
states, "The graduation class of the Louisville Medical College
requests your presence at the Commencement Exercises, Friday, March 8th, 1895,
at 2 o'clock, Masonic Temple." Of the forty graduates listed Allen Forest
was the only one from Ohio. The invitation still has its blue ribbon and
parchment cover. Following graduation
Doc set up practice in Graysville.
Later he and his first wife Mary (Neuhart) Latta divorced. The Graysville practice was given to his son
Heber and Mary stayed with him (the office being a small building next to the
house). Following the divorce, Allen Forest set up another practice in
Caldwell. In l930 Doc lived in
Cumberland, and in l934 in Graysville.
He died suddenly of a heart attack and is buried at the Latta plot in
the Calais cemetery.
