Abbott,
Payton Christian Abbott
Source: The Monroe County [Ohio] Beacon online - 4
Nov 2020
Payton Christian Abbott, 28, of Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina, formerly of Marietta, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 25,
2020.
He was born in Glendale, West Virginia, on Aug. 6, 1992,
and the son of Deborah J. and the late Bradley Jay “Burrhead”
Abbott.
Preceding Payton in death was his father, Bradley Abbott,
on Oct. 29, 1992; his grandparents, Edward and Hilda Abbott and Paul E. Smith
and Sandra Hester Smith; as well as his uncles, Gary Abbott and Paul E. Smith,
II.
Payton attended Marietta High School and Myrtle Beach High
School, obtaining his GED thereafter. While at Marietta High School, Payton was
an active member of the high school’s crew and football teams. Those that knew
him well knew him to be a kind soul with a goofy and loving personality. He
always had an infectious smile that could light up any room. Payton loved music
and was talented in playing guitar and enjoyed singing his heart out.
Through his Judeo-Christian upbringing in the Messianic
Jewish Church in Marietta, Payton learned the love and compassion of Christ’s
teachings and shared it with all who knew him. When he was only in fifth grade
he was so excited with his faith that he regularly led a Bible study with his
peers during lunch. Even when he walked in the dark, he still carried the light
to many.
While Payton helped many homeless people and addicts, he
too suffered from an addiction that began five years ago. With the help of his
family and friends, Payton sought rehab to help end his addiction.
Unfortunately,
his enthusiasm for life and boundless optimism to succeed were not enough to
help him become free of his addiction.
If there is one message our family wants to say to those
who still have a chance to prevent the heartache we now face, it is this: if
you have had any amount of time in sobriety and you are about to relapse,
understand that your next dose could be your last. Please reach out to those
around you who can give you the love, support, and the care that you need to
become free of your addiction.
In addition to his mother, Deborah, Payton is survived by
his brothers, Logan (Iliyana) Abbott and Landon
Abbott. He is also survived by his uncles, Roger (Jenny) Abbott and Douglas
Abbott; aunt, Debbie Abbott; uncle, Mark Smith; and aunt, Melissa Smith Monich; in addition to numerous cousins.
Friends were received until time of funeral service Tuesday
Nov. 3, 2020, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield,
with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial followed in Jerusalem Cemetery,
Jerusalem.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for
friends and family in Myrtle Beach.

Dec 2020
Helen Margaret Brown, 91, of Sebring,
passed away at 3:27 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at Crandall Medical Center at
Copeland Oaks which had been her home for more than 21 years.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1929, as the
only child of Leslie and Bonnie Dittus in the Kenton
area.
She graduated from Kenton High School
in 1947 and pursued her college degree at Marion College in Indiana. After a
year there she returned to Ohio where she attended Ohio Northern University,
graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. It was at Ohio
Northern University that she met her future husband Rev. Walter Paul Brown whom
she married on Aug. 17, 1951. She loved teaching all ages but especially loved
the third grade classes that she had over the years because they understood her
jokes. As a pastor’s wife she got to experience many things, including moving
to new areas mostly in rural Ohio. She was a supportive and encouraging wife
and helpmate over the years as they served charges in Stafford, Sonora,
Pleasant Grove, Hannibal, North Fairfield, New Haven, Marengo-Fulton as well as
living in New Concord and Bethesda. Each move meant finding a new school where
she could share her talents as an elementary teacher. Helen loved deeply and
had a very compassionate heart. One of her many gifts was
creativity, which she shared with yearly homemade Christmas cards and the
annual Brown Daze newsletter. Over the years she shared her artistic abilities
with others through watercolors, quilting, counted cross stitch, and
embroidery, as well as creating beautiful greeting cards. She loved reading and
had a notebook recording every book she had read from 1949 to 2017. During her
lifetime she was involved in many groups including PTA, AAUW and UMW, as well
as attending many Minister’s Wives retreats. She was
happiest when she was with friends and family. During her time at Copeland Oaks
she loved volunteering in the library and being a part of the Chorale.
Survivors include her children: Paula
(Carl) Archdeacon, of Newark, Chris (Shari) Brown, of Ashland, Mark Brown, of
Yuma, Arizona, and Beth Ann (Chris) Chiles, of Brevard, North Carolina. She is

(Nathan) Youmans, of Sparks, Nevada, Micah (Wendy Hu) Chiles, of Jersey City,
New Jersey, Rebekah Brown, of San Diego, California, and Aaron (Erin Maxwell)
Chiles, of Raleigh, North Carolina. She also was the proud great-grandma to
Harper Morris and Theodore Hu Chiles.
She was preceded in death by her
beloved husband, Paul, in 1994 and her parents, Leslie and Bonnie Dittus in 1980 and 1993 respectively.

Russ Brown passed away peacefully the
evening of January 24th, surrounded by the most important thing in his life -
his family. He was 85. Raised in Wintersville, Ohio,
Russ was the sixth of seven children: Jim, Dave, Chuck, Avis, Laura (Hobson),
and Margaret (Lutz) - the youngest and only living sibling.
During his life Russ worked at American
Electric Power for 20 years, moonlighted wiring houses with his own crew, then
designed and sold commercial and industrial lighting with his own agency, Russ
Brown and Associates for more than 20 years. After which he
and his wife Marty, established and ran a rental business, Brown Properties,
for over 30 years. Marty and Russ were married for 36 years. Russ Brown lead [sic—led]
a full and meaningful life. Some of the things he was most proud of

purchasing and restoring the huge old Armory in Port Clinton and opening it as
a Community Center for kids. He was a soldier, a pilot, a master electrician, a
teacher, a landlord, a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a dad and a
grandpa. Russ Brown always did things his own way, unapologetically, with one
personal goal in life: help at least one person every day. But as many
resources and as much energy as he put into his own community, Russ always put
his family first.
He leaves behind his wife, Marty Brown
(Humphrey), his sons Paul Brown with wife Gwen (children Cori & KimAnn) and Ben Roberts with wife Jen (children Hannah,
Ella & Sam), daughter Jen Swiczkowski

Cline, Kenneth Ray Cline
Source: The Monroe County [Ohio] Beacon online; 16
Apr 2020
Kenneth “Ken” Ray Cline, 84, passed
away peacefully surrounded by family on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Ken was born to Paul and Blanche Cline
on October 28, 1935, in Graysville. He graduated from Graysville High School in
1953 and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1953
until his honorable discharge in 1956.
After moving to Akron and beginning
his career at Ohio Bell, a pretty telephone operator named Cathy caught his eye
in the cafeteria one day. The young couple wed on September 13, 1958. Ken and
Cathy raised three kids together and were overjoyed each time the family grew
with the addition of an in-law or a grandchild.
As a devoted Christian, Ken proudly
served as an ordained deacon at Green Baptist Church. He was a man who led his
life as an example for others. For his earthly career, Ken worked at AT&T
Ohio and retired after 33 years. He was able to put his intellect to good use
there when repairing transmission towers. He could even explain transmissions
to a layperson with startling clarity.
Those who knew Ken will tell you that
he always had a joke to crack, followed up with a wry
grin. Growing up on a farm taught him to appreciate horticulture and he kept a
garden for most of his life. He was loyal, as evidenced by remaining a fan of
the Cleveland Indians no matter what they did to spoil their chances of winning
the World Series. But most importantly, Ken was the epitome of a hardworking
family man who did whatever he could for those he loved. His family was the
source of his pride (especially his grandchildren).
Ken is preceded in death by his
parents, Paul and Blanche Cline; his cherished wife of 55 beautiful years,
Catherine Cline; and his eldest son, David Cline. He is survived by his children,
Cheryl and John Apazeller, Michael and Linda Cline;
his grandchildren, Elizabeth Apazeller and Bruce Gillig, Sara Apazeller, Michael
Cline, Jr.; sister, Barbara Flinn; aunt, June Mobberly; sister-in-law, Patricia Myers; brother-inlaw, Thomas Myers; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and
friends.

private service will be held for the family at Newcomer Funeral Home, and Ken
will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial
contribution to the Foundation Fighting Donations can be submitted online at

Beach County. He was loved and respected by all of his co-workers and anyone
that crossed his path.
Russ lived for his family and he and
his late wife Wilda hosted many family get-togethers,
where food and four generations of card playing ruled the day. Russ and Wilda never wanted you to leave, especially in their later
