Dayton Leon Ables
Age 74, of Sutton, West Virginia passed
away on October 04, 2018 after a long battle with Mystania
[sic -- Myasthenia]
Gravis.
Known as Rivers to his friends, he was
born at home in Gilmer County, West Virginia on February 05, 1944.
As a toddler he was sent with his
brothers and sisters to make the required head count to the Baldwin School. At
about 8 or 9 years old his father, Granville William Ables,
decided to move to Ohio, so he and Addie (Lattea)
packed all the children and moved up near Diamond, Ohio where Rivers grew up
hunting and trapping on the local lake and rivers.
At 17 he decided to go into the Air
Force where he served Honorably and was discharged in
California where he decided to stay until he retired. While there he worked as
a Labor Foreman in Commercial Masonry, helped start and build the Local 165
Union from which he and his crews helped rebuild all of the state capital and
downtown area, which at that time was about 6 city blocks. When he retired in
1995 and moved back to West Virginia, the City of Sacramento was over 40 miles
across, there were few commercial jobs involving masonry that he was not part
of. He was also an Operating Engineer.
Dayton played as hard as he worked, he
enjoyed dirt bikes, fishing, hunting (anything), camping, 4 wheeling, he was an outdoorsman.
Dayton was preceded in death by both
his parents, Granville William Ables and Addie (Lattea) Ables as well as all his siblings: Harold of Diamond, OH; Nancy *of Ohio;
Mary Louise of Buckhannon, WV; Bessie of Ohio; Ray of Ohio; Maxine* of Ohio,
Robert of Ohio and Carol Marie** of Ohio.
Dayton is survived by his son, Barry
(Shelia) Ables, Urbana, Ohio and 6 grandchildren and
wife, Maryetta of Sutton, WV, who would like to
express our deepest appreciation to West Virginia Caring who provided
palliative and hospice care for our family and to the Hubbard Hospice House who
opened their doors and their hearts to Dayton. In lieu of flowers donations to
WV Caring would be most appropriate.
Submitter's Notes:
* The name Nancy may be referring to
his sister, Bessie Normalee (Ables)
Stier who died in 1997. (See her obituary.) I have found no records showing a
"Nancy" Ables.
** From other family obituaries and
records, the Maxine and the Carol mentioned here are
the same sister, Carol "Maxine (Ables) Newkirk
who died in 1961. (See her obituary.)

Jim was born in Akron, Ohio, to Robert
and Madge Bay, on April 1, 1944.
After high school in Port Angeles, and
growing up poor with hard working parents, James Edward Bay was a logger, a
police officer, a City of Sequim employee, and Sequim's Public Works Director.
His desire to better himself in everything he did showed through his work
ethic.
The city of Sequim's water reuse site
was one of Jim's favorite accomplishments. He would get so excited talking
about it and what he hoped would come of it in the future. His greatest joy
with the pond was when they stocked it with trout so the kids could fish. He
especially liked standing on the bridge, overlooking the pond and watching the
special needs students, from the life skills classes, get first crack at
catching a trout.
After his marriage to Carol, on May 23,
1986, another journey began. They loved to travel, meeting new friends and
enjoyed being together. They travelled to Mexico, Panama, Shisho
City, Sequim's sister city, plus joined a club and cruised in their motor home.
Jim truly enjoyed the people they had met. He loved talking to people and
swapping stories. We will miss Jim and his interest in what you had to say and
his true enjoyment of life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, of
Sequim; and sons Kurt (Tammy) Bay, Ken Bay, and Berton
(Sherrie) Bay; Brother Raulph* of Port Angeles; and
his sister Shirley.
At Jim's request, there will be no
services.

Ann’s Episcopal Church in New Martinsville, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11
a.m.
All of us who knew Nancy knew that she
loved life and loved those close to her very dearly. Nancy loved to talk and
commentate. At her request, we share a few of her final last thoughts below:
Well, that is all folks! What a long,
strange, yet magnificent, ride it has been!
I was blessed to have an amazing,
wonderful and love-filled life. My parents Lois and Woody Broadwater, loved,
inspired and forever encouraged me. They shared with me a love of books, card
games, music, crafts and travel. Those beloved trips that included our entire
family were filled with love, joy, and laughter.
I attended West Liberty State College
to become a dental hygienist. This profession took me to the great city of
Cleveland, where I first experienced the Big City and all the culture, sports
and after hour shenanigans a big city has to offer.
Ultimately though, I returned to
college for a Bachelors’ Degree at West Liberty and a Master of Arts at West
Virginia University. Returning to school later in life challenged my thinking
and views on many subjects. During this time, I began paying attention to my
style and most agree, I had one to call my own!
Walt and I married in 1978. Walt was a
great provider and gave me a comfortable life. Our love was very special and
unique; I cherished it. I was thankful for his daughter, Jenifer. We were so
different and yet we bonded and shared a special relationship. I was her
biggest cheerleader.
I was blessed to have Brenda, Rose and
Patty as life-long friends. I met my dear friend Jane later in life. And Jane,
her family and The Farm were very special to me.
To my surviving sister
Judy; nephew Lance and his wife, Lisa, and his daughter Kelsi; nieces Lark, and
Heather, and her son Ares, you were all large parts of my life and I loved each
of you deeply.
Although I never had human children of
my own, the four legged hounds I shared my life with gave me happiness, joy,
and laughter beyond measure. I thank Raz, Cinder,
Sinner, Shadow, my extra favorite –Tyler, and Abe for
sharing your journeys with me.
St. Ann’s Episcopal Church was my
spiritual anchor and healing haven. It is my wish that in lieu of flowers,
donations be sent to St Ann’s Episcopal Church, New Martinsville, WV or the
Nathan B. Heller Music Fund, Pleasants Community Foundation St. Marys, WV.
I thank God for the life I lived. I
couldn’t have asked for more! I ask you all to remember the good times, the
laughs and the love we shared. Love, Nancy

Cline, Thelma Fay Cline,
nee Ring
Source: The Monroe County [Ohio] Beacon,
[mcbeacon.com]; 27 Jun 2018
The beautiful, 104-year life of Thelma Fay Cline came to a
peaceful end Thursday, June 21, 2018 in her New Philadelphia home.
Thelma Ring was born on March 26, 1914 in Monroe County,
Ohio, at Ring’s Mill. She was one of seven children born to the late Walter and
Ada Ring. She went through the 8th grade at nearby Pine Knob School.
She met H. Glen Cline from Bloomfield and they wed on July
3, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1976. In addition to most of her
siblings (Edith, Ernest, Grace, Gladys and Betty), she also was preceded in
death by her oldest daughter, Janet Cline Geiser of
Ashtabula, in 2013 and an infant granddaughter, Lisa Fay Brown, in 1970.
In 1943, Thelma and Glen moved to New Philadelphia, where
Glen was a truck driver. They lived on the Southside and raised their two
daughters, Janet and Linda. In 1952, the family moved to the 1100 block of
Sherman Avenue NW and added two boys, Dale and Paul, to their household.
Thelma loved her God and her family more than anything. She
was a student of the Bible and read it daily. She was a member of the New
Philadelphia church of Christ and enjoyed a good religious debate.
She loved history, especially that of her family, and she
was instrumental in the efforts to preserve the original Ring Stone House at
the Ring’s Mill site in the Wayne National Forest.
She was an amazing seamstress, cook and baker, often
winning awards at the Tuscarawas County Fair. She also loved to garden and
raise flowers, for which she also gained accolades.
Thelma is survived by her sons and youngest daughter, Dale
Cline of Montebello, Calif., and Mrs. Richard (Linda) Brown and Paul Cline,
both of New Philadelphia. Paul was Thelma’s full-time caregiver the last few
years and his loving care allowed Thelma to remain in her home.
She is also survived by a sister, Pauline Herscher of Marietta; grandchildren, Mark (Sue) Geiser and John (Sandy) Geiser,
all of Conneaut, Sarah Tersigni of Erie, Pa, and
Renee (Steve) Parker and Tanya Brown of New Philadelphia; great-grandchildren,
Adam, Jordan, Rachel, Justin, Samantha, Jake, Sydney, Seth and Luke; and a
great-great-grandchild, Alizabeth.
In addition to her family, she also will be missed by several
longtime family friends: Marilyn Stratton, Cinda
Miller, Joseph Garcia and David Collen.
Thelma’s family is very
appreciative of the care and concern of the staff of Community Hospice.
Visitation was held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on
Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Services were held in the funeral home chapel on
Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., followed by burial in Evergreen Burial Park in New
Philadelphia. A fellowship meal in the Geib Family
Center followed the internment.
Although Thelma loved flowers, she would rather be honored
by way of donations in her memory to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue
SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or the New Philadelphia church of Christ, 749
Commercial Avenue SW.

Thomas (Junior) Dye, age 70, of Sardis, passed away on May
10, 2018, at Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born March 16, 1948, near Brownsville. He was the
son of Thomas and Bertha (Hensel) Dye and step-son of Francis Cline.
Junior was a hard worker. He worked as a coal miner, carpet
layer and a carpenter and retired from J.A. Semon
Construction, but farming was his passion. He was both an avid farmer and
outdoorsman.
He spent hours in the barn feeding and caring for his
cattle or tending to his equipment. He would even watch cattle and farming
equipment auctions on RFDTV and was always talking to someone about their
cattle. He loved to tinker with something in the garage, either trying to fix
something or trying to make something work faster and better. He also enjoyed
his hunting and fishing. It did not matter if it was deer in Ohio, Elk in
Colorado, catfish in the river or Walleye in Laker Erie; he loved it all.
But most of all, he enjoyed his time with family and close
friends. He held the love for his family and friends every day in his heart. He
was always the first to help out a neighbor or a friend, even from another
town. He always had a joke and a grin, and a way with words that would make
everyone feel at home and at ease.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Nancy L.
Dye, and a brother Loren E. Cline.
Junior is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debbie (Byers)
Dye, of Sardis; two sisters, Linda S. McBride, of Ashland, and Teresa J. Cline,
of New Matamoras; sister-in-law, Kay Cline, of Mansfield; two sons, Stacy (Kim)
Dye, of Hannibal, and Chris (Deanna) Simon, of Sardis; five grandchildren,
Kelsey Duke (Scott), of Columbus, Jeremy Dye, of New Martinsville, West
Virginia, D.J. Duke (Kristy), of Marion, Justin Dye (Cheyanne), of Clarington,
and Cody Simon, of Sardis; and four great-grandchildren: Carlee Dye, Brandon
Dye, and Cayden Dye, of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and Emmett Ann
McMullen of Columbus.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14,
2018, and from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at
the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home with Minister Ron Weber officiating. Burial will
immediately follow at St. Paul Trail Run in Sardis.
