Fouch, Tonda Fouch,
nee Kinney
Source: The Columbus [Ohio] Dispatch - Wednesday,
August 12, 2015
Fatal shooting
Murder-suicide likely in 2
deaths
Tom Folk and Tonda
Fouch had split up, but Folk told his roommate that
she was stopping by their Whitehall house to talk.
The roommate, Kraig Blair, cleared out
to give them time alone. Ninety minutes later, he returned home, to what police
say was a murder-suicide.
It was Blair who around 5 p.m. Monday
called Whitehall police to the home that he and Folk shared in the 4400 block
of St. Rita Lane.
Folk, 54, and Fouch,
42, were found in Folk's bedroom. Both had been shot, and Folk still held the
gun.
Whitehall Sgt. John Grebb
said Folk and Fouch had been in a relationship but
had since separated. Folk called Fouch to the house
on Monday in the hope that he could rekindle the relationship, Grebb said.
In his call to 911, Blair said he and Folk's
ex-wife had discovered the deaths after eventually looking into the bedroom.
"My best friend just killed
himself and his girlfriend, and they're laying on the bed, and we just found out by opening up the
bedroom door and there they were," he said.
Blair told the call-taker that he
didn't realize Folk had a gun or was capable of shooting anyone. Court records
reveal no domestic-violence complaints involving the couple.
"Had he been depressed?"
Blair told the call-taker. "Yeah, 'cause
she left him. And then he said she was going to come back for a while
today, and he wanted me to leave, you know, so that they could have some
privacy."
Blair said he left the house about 3:30
p.m.
"When I came back, the door was
shut."

Hoffman, Elizabeth Hoffman, nee Staley
Source: The
Hometown News, New Cumberland West Virginia; [as posted on findagrave.com];
March 27, 2015 - page 11
Elizabeth Staley Hoffman, 95, lifetime resident of New Cumberland, WV
passed March 20 due to complications from pneumonia.
Lib, as
most knew her, enjoyed many things from crafts and baking to music and
socializing. She enjoyed a good conversation and could and would talk with
everyone! Her family, however, was her true love. In 1936, she married the late
William Merle Hoffman, and they had 5 amazing children! Boasting of their
accomplishments and encouraging them in their ventures was her favorite past
time.
Husband
Merle, daughter, Sondra Marlene Price, son Richard Newell Hoffman and several
brothers and sisters also preceded her in her journey.
Missing
her but sharing her memory are daughters, Carol Pellegrino (Anthony), Boynton
Beach, FL., Merrill Balderson (Robert), Beverly, WV
and Heidi Adkins (John), Chester, WV, son-in-law, Robert Price and
daughter-in-law Debbie Hoffman of New Cumberland; grandchildren Kevin
Pellegrino, Laura Becraft, Anthony Pellegrino,
Jennifer Sanner, Beth Walsh, Katie Adkins, Maggie
Wells, Emma Smith, 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna McKitrick, Weirton, WV.
Lib was
a member of the New Cumberland Christian Church where she could always be found
involved with activities that included working with kids; teaching Sunday
School, Bible School, Christian Endeavor or mentoring them in their projects as
well as their shenanigans.
In
support of her kids she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, supporter of 4-H, projects
in Hancock County Schools and an adult any kid could turn to for fun as well as
direction.
A former
business owner in New Cumberland, she was the proprietress of the New
Cumberland Dry Cleaners before moving from town to what she always called
"the country".
A member
of the former Rebekah Lodge in New Cumberland, she served as Post Noble Grand,
and she also enjoyed attending the Farm Woman's Club meetings in New
Manchester.
She
opened her home to all children, and provided care for many. Lib also attended
to various friends and neighbors who needed attention and companionship when
homebound. She was a collector of many things and enjoyed the lost art of
making soap which she generously shared with any looking for an old time beauty
secret!
Most
recently she resided and was given amazing care at the Weirton Geriaric Center.
As was
her wish, her family will conduct a small private memorial to be followed by
burial in the family cemetery on the hill. In lieu of flowers or memorial
gifts, contributions in her honor can be made to the Richard Hoffman Music
Endowment Fund, 314 Crescent Lane, New Cumberland, WV
26047. Arrangements were handled by the Nixon Funeral Home, New Cumberland, WV.

Crash
on River Road kills Spotsylvania man
A Spotsylvania County man was killed
Tuesday after his pickup hit a tree, overturned and
was struck by another vehicle.
According to Virginia State Police Sgt.
Les Tyler, the crash occurred at 5:46 p.m. on River Road near the intersection
with Motts Run Road in Spotsylvania.
An investigation by Trooper M.T. Conley
revealed that a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling westbound on
River Road when it ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment
and a tree, Tyler said. The vehicle then overturned into the roadway and slid
over into the eastbound lane and was struck by a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Tyler said the driver of the 2000 Chevy
S-10, 24-year-old David Edwin Justis, died at the
scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. He was wearing a seat
belt.
The driver of the 1990 Chevy pickup
truck and a passenger were not injured, Tyler said.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's
Office, Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue, the Virginia Department of Transportation
and the Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction Team assisted with
traffic control and investigation.
River Road was closed in that area for
about four hours, according to Tyler.
