Abbott, Jeannie Abbott, nee Hunt

        Jeannie Hunt Abbott, 48, of Vienna, WV passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.

        She was born April 8, 1966 in Ravenna, OH daughter of Janet Beverly Osborne Hunt of Vienna, WV and the late Edward Eugene "Gene" Hunt.

        Including her mother, Janet Hunt, she is survived by 3 daughters, Sarah, Audrey and Erin Abbott of Kalispell, Montana; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Christy Hunt; a niece, Madison Hunt and a nephew, Jacob Hunt.

        She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Eugene "Gene" Hunt.

        A memorial service will be held at 7 P.M., Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Grace Brethren Church, Coolville, OH with Pastor George Horner officiating.

       Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Ackerman, Harvey Keith Ackerman

          Harvey Keith Ackerman, 83, of Somerton, Ohio passed away Sunday, Feb. 22 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Keith was born May 22, 1931 to the late Sam and Josephine (Hagan) Ackerman.

          He was a 1949 graduate of Somerton High School. Keith is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and is a Free Mason.

          Keith worked as a farmer and coal miner. He also owned and operated A&L Construction with his brothers in law using his talents to build homes for many years throughout Belmont and Monroe counties. He was a successful antique dealer as an entrepreneur of the Barnesville Antique Mall. He enjoyed going to antique shows selling the furniture that he loved refinishing. Keith was an avid collector of pioneer tools and traveled the country attending auctions to acquire them. He was proud of the little town of Somerton and did his best to preserve it including driving to Las Vegas to return the historic Somerton school bell to its rightful home and spearheading much of the planning and design for the Somerton Park.

          In addition to his parents Keith was preceded in death by his eldest son Lloyd K. Ackerman and his brother Myron Ackerman.

          Surviving are his loving and devoted wife Evelyn (Lucas) Ackerman, whom he married June 2, 1951. Three sons, Tim Ackerman, Danny (Brenda) Ackerman and Kendall Ackerman. Seven grandchildren Dawn Ackerman (Myriam Chaumeil), Sam Ackerman, Jennifer Ackerman, Karen (Jeff) Munn, Adam (Alyssa) Ackerman, Jeffery (Jessica) Ackerman and Samantha Ackerman. Four great-grandchildren Katherine and Aaron Munn and Owen and Avery Ackerman. A brother Ken (Sue) Ackerman; a sister Wilda (Frank) Rector and several nieces and nephews.

          Arrangements pending at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Somerton Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Somerton Community Park a place Keith loved visiting frequently with his dearest friends.

 

Armann, Jerry Armann

          Jerry “Jug” Armann, 50 of Hannibal, OH, died Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born January 25, 1965 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Dale and Betty Ramsay Armann. He was a diesel mechanic at HLC Trucking; a member of the First Church of God, Duffy, OH, and the Masonic Lodge #597 F & AM of Clarington, OH. He had a love for farming and mowing grass. He also loved spending time with his children and granchildren.

          Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Angel Smittle Armann, of Hannibal; two daughters: Ashley (Chad Baker) Armann, of Malaga, OH and Tiffany (Matt) Abbott of Clarington, OH; one son: Jerrett Armann of the home; one brother: Terry (Dianna) Armann of Beallsville, OH; five sisters: Barbara Hornyak of Washington, PA, Willie (Ronnie) Winkler of Clarington, Jackie (John) Hamilton of Shadyside, OH, Chris (Tim) Mellott of Clarington, Tammy (Donnie) Shriver of Beallsville; four grandchildren: Brayden and Brantley Baker, Colt and Kylee Abbott, as well as several nieces and nephews.

          Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Cathy Harman officiating. Masonic services will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 pm at funeral home. Burial will follow in Harter Cemetery, Hannibal.

Auten, Gaynell Auten, nee Dietch

          Gaynell Auten, age 92, of Woodsfield, passed away April 3, 2015 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Martins Ferry on January 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Melvin and Blanche Dieterich Deitch.

          She enjoyed quilting, cooking for her family and taking care of her flowers.  She truly loved and served God.  She attended the Woodsfield Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Auten, Jr., three brothers Ralph Deitch, Donald Deitch, and Gene Deitch, and son-in-law Lewis Matz.

          Surviving are two daughters, Eva (Michael) Kopnski of Duck, North Carolina, and Shirley Matz of Woodsfield; two brothers, Duane (Carol) Deitch of Clarington, Ohio  and Robert (Ronda) Deitch of Caldwell, Ohio; one sister Mary (Paul) Eddy of Woodsfield, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

          Friends were received April 7, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, where Funeral Services were held April 8, 2015 with Paul Eddy officiating.  Burial followed at the Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, West Virginia.

 

Ayers, Kenneth L. Ayers

          Kenneth L. Ayers, age 68, of Whipple, Ohio, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, after suffering an extensive stroke. He was born March 29, 1947, in Harrietsville, son of the late E. Burdette and Evelyn May Snider Ayers. He was a 1965 graduate of Stafford High School, and he was a veteran of United States Army’s First Cav.,serving in Vietnam, and earning numerous awards, including the Vietnam Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the National Defense Medal, Sharp Shooter Badge (rifle), and the Purple Heart. He retired following 28 years of service with GTE, and he had 15 years of service for Salem Township. He was a member of the Lowell American Legion Post # 750, and he was a life member of the Marietta VFW Post # 5108. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Marietta. He was an avid tractor puller, using his four big John Deere tractors, as well as several small garden pulling tractors. Kenny was deeply loved and will be truly missed.

          In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kendra Ann Ayers.

          Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Patricia Ann Moberg Ayers; three daughters, and grandchildren from a previous marriage; one step-son, Brandon (Staci) Unklesbay of Cambridge; one stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jamy) Thompson of Marietta; one brother, Allen (Diane) Ayers; one sister, Kathy (Daryl) Wolfe; three ornery grandchildren that he thought the world of Justin, Jalen and Jackson Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

          Friends may call Wednesday, September 16, 2015, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, September 17th at 11AMwith Evangelist John Wells officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Salem Township Cemetery in Lower Salem.

 

Bach, Ethel L. Bach, nee Griffin

          Ethel L. Bach, 93 of Graysville, Ohio, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 3:45pm on December 24, 2015 from the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio.

          Ethel was born March 28, 1922 at Rinard Mills, Ohio. A daughter of the late Russell and Ada (McVey) Griffin. She was a member of the Graysville United Methodist Church, Graysville, Ohio.

          She is survived by her daughter Donna (Larry) Ullman of Graysville, Ohio;a son Ronald (Helen) Gardner of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a stepdaughter Cheryl (Howard) Handschumacher of Belpre, Ohio; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister Margaret Ring of Louisville, Ohio, and one brother Heber (Twila) Griffin of Shreve, Ohio.

          She was preceded in death by her first husband Willard Gardner who died in 1989, and her second husband Lloyd Bach who died in 2001. An infant daughter Bonita Gardner who died in 1944. Five sisters Olive Hill, Wilma Fruend, Hattie Gardner, Audrie Hall, Ruby Turner; and two brothers Earl and Cecil Griffin.

          Friends will be received at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, December 28, 2015 where funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 29, 2015  with Rusty Atkinson officiating.

          Burial will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Graysville, Ohio.

Baffic, Nancy Ellen Baffic, nee Morris

        Nancy Ellen Baffic, 69, of St. Marys, died March 11, 2015, in her home.  She was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Robert Henry and Helen Marie Morris.  She attended St. Marys High School where she was an active band member and graduated in 1963.  She became a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician and went on to become a fully trained Paramedic.  She was a Pleasants County Emergency Squad volunteer serving the residents of Pleasants County for many years.  She had a true passion for emergency medicine and caring for people in need.

        She is survived by sons, Stephen P. Baffic and his wife Joanne and daughter Hallie of McDonough, GA, and Robert M. Baffic and his wife Cordelia and daughter Thallyah of Glenn Mills, PA and brother, Michael Morris and wife Cindy of Mount Pleasant, SC.

        A memorial service was held Saturday at the Celebration Center Church south of Belmont.  The Rev. Michael Morris officiated.

 

Baker, Betty Lou Baker, nee Huntsman

          Betty Lou Baker, age 75, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at her home. She was born July 2, 1939, in Barnesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Earl and Edna Morris Huntsman.

          She was a homemaker and a beloved mother. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, working puzzles, and watching birds.

          In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Chandes Baker, who died July 5, 2005; and several brothers and sisters.

          Surviving are her children, Debbie K. (Aaron) Lambert of Dexter City, Brenda L. Ogden of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, William H. (Christy) Baker of Caldwell, Thomas E. Baker of Caldwell. Joyce A. Baker of Caldwell, Kenneth E. (Nanette) Baker of Kanoe, Hawaii, Susan D. Baker of Reidsville, North Carolina, and Tresa M. Davis of Caldwell; her siblings, Janet Rock of Toronto, Ohio, Edna Lucas of Belmont, Joseph “Sonny” Huntsman of Georgia, and Thelma Hicks of Texas; one sister-in-law, Jenny (Tom) LaFollette of Lewisville; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          There will be no visitation or service at this time. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.

 

Baker, Bonnie Jean Baker

          Bonnie Jean Baker, 63, a resident of REM Group Home, Wheeling, West Virginia and formerly of Beallsville, Ohio died Monday, June 1, 2015 in Wheeling Medical Park Hospital. She was born December 11, 1951 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clem and Bessie Pittman Baker.

          Bonnie was a member of the former Bolon Ridge Chapel near Beallsville.  Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Bonnie Baker of Camden, Ohio and Bobby and Linda Baker of Beallsville, Ohio; two nephews and three nieces. 

          Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, June 3 at 2 PM in the Beallsville Cemetery with Pastor Max Robinson officiating.

 

Baker, David Allen Baker

          David Allen Baker, 47, of Beallsville, died May 25, 2015 near his home as the result of a tree trimming accident.  He was born May 24, 1968 in Barnesville, a son of Mary Ann Miller Baker Bolon and the late Lowell “Bud” Baker. 

         He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a self-employed tree trimmer, a farmer, and a US Navy Veteran.

          Surviving in addition to his mother, Mary, of Woodsfield, are his daughters, Ann Marie and Laura Claire Baker; his special friend, Carrie Kinsey, and her children, Courtney and Chad; his sister, Brenda (Lyle) Barker of Paden City; two nephews, Nathan and Justin; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

          Visitation was held Friday, May 29 at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, where a Christian Wake was held that evening.

          A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, May 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church near Miltonsburg with Father David Gaydosik officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768. 

 

Ball, Edith Mae Ball, nee Carpenter

          Edith Mae Ball, 80, of Barnesville died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home.  Heaven has gained a loving, strong, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was born  in Summerfield, Ohio on May 28, 1934 to the late Everett E. and Tressie (Alexander) Carpenter.

          Edith was a Methodist by faith and attended the Main Street United Methodist Church.  She had worked for the Jonathan Logan Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Cory L. Ball; and five brothers: Guy, Ellsworth, Donald, Sylvan and Dale Carpenter.

Edith is survived by her three children: Donna (Rudolph) Keaton of Kimbolton, Patrick S. Ball of Warwood, WV and Lorrie (Harlen) Temple of Barnesville; five grandchildren: Haley (Scott) Larrick, Clayton (Alyssa) Temple, Kenzie Temple, Kyle (Kaitlyn) Temple and Cody Temple; sister, Ora D. Carpenter of St. Clairsville; five great-grandchildren: Zoey, Lily, Sawyer, Corey and Jackson Temple; step-grandson, Kevin (Mandy) Keaton; step-great-grandson, Brenden Keaton; and special companions, her dogs, Jessie and Clark Kent.

          A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:30am at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville with Rev. Gene Miller officiating.  Arrangements by Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.

          In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edith's memory to the Ohio State Highway Patrol or the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.

 

Ball, Paul Philip Ball

        RITTMAN -- Paul Philip Ball, 57, of Rittman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Akron.

        Paul was born Feb. 20, 1958, in Boone County, W.Va., to the late French and Melba (Baisden) Ball and married Linda Wood on Oct. 10, 1984. She survives.

        He had worked at Orrville Products and had made his home in the Rittman and Creston area for the past 53 years. He had been a school crossing guard for Rittman Schools and enjoyed working on cars and fishing.

        He was a member of the Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church and had been a member of Wood Brothers Blue Grass Band and had sang with various gospel groups over the years.

        Surviving are his wife Linda; a daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Michael Sollars of Rittman; a brother, Willet (Carol) Ball of Rittman; a sister, Joann Myers of Wooster; a brother-in-law, Raymond R. Baker of Creston; and nieces and nephews.

        He was preceded in death by his father, French Ball; his mother, Melba Ball Myers; an infant son, Paul Jr.; brothers, Larry Ball and infant, Roger Dale; and sisters, Kay Baker and Loretta "Blondie" Thompson

        Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. John Castle, Jerry Hackworth and Michael Sollers officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.

        Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.

        Survived by her husband and best friend of 34 years, Bob Ballenger; mother, Annabelle G. Callicoat; sister, Jane (Rick) Smitson; brother, Mike (Beverly) Callicoat; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by father John Robert Callicoat, brother David Callicoat.

        Funeral service Friday 11:30 a.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where friends may call 1 hour prior to service. Pastor David Redding officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

 

Banks, Thelma Mae Banks, nee Lowther

      On March 14, 2015, Thelma Mae Lowther Banks, went home to be with the Lord. She died peacefully with her loving family by her side at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.

        Born on December 3, 1925 in Linn, West Virginia, she lived in the Westminster area for 26 years. She was the daughter of the late Hedgeman M. and Anna Myrtle Lattea Lowther. She was predeceased by husband James D. Banks, Sr. in 1988.

        Before her retirement, she owned and operated Banks Embroidery Service. She was an active member of Church of the Open Door. A member of the Super 60's, where she sung in the choir, and a member of The Royal Blue Sunday School Class.

        Thelma enjoyed reading her Bible, her favorite Scriptures were on Prophecy and Salvation. She enjoyed needle point, sewing, and reading the Sunday comics. Her great pleasure was to spend time with her family and watching her Grandchildren grow up.

        Surviving her are daughters and sons-in-law Sherry A. and Mason “Jimmy” Clagett and Sandra J. and Arthur “Pete” Parrish, all of New Windsor, MD; son James D. Banks, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; step-daughter and husband Dale A. and Jackie Rogers of Stamps, Arkansas; 8 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

       She was predeceased in death by daughter Phyllis Ann; brothers Henry, Argel, Worthy, and Everett Lowther; sister Columbia Keesecker; half brothers Clifford and Archie; and daughter-in-law Carolyn Banks.

       The family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, with her pastor, Rev. John Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

Baranich, Hannah Belle Baranich, nee Armann

          Hannah Belle Baranich, age 89, of Clarington, died February 28, 2015 in Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield. She was born April 24, 1925, in Powhatan Point, a daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Alice Robb Armann.

          She was a bookkeeper in a jewelry store, graduated in 1943 from Powhatan High School, a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Clarington. She loved music and played the piano and organ over 50 years.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Baranich; two sons, John Robert and William Andrew Baranich; and a granddaughter, Marsha Thompson.

          Survivors include a son, James (Carrie) Baranich of Clarington, OH, two daughters, Judy (Steve) Thompson of Hannibal, OH and Mary Alice Bishop of St. Clairsville, OH; a sister, Lena Elizabeth (Ray) Fankhauser of Powhatan Point, OH; a grandson, Tim Bishop of Severn, MD; a granddaughter, Tricia (Paul) Skrede of Viroqua, WI; a great-granddaughter, Hanna Leigh Skrede; a great-grandson, Jamen Isaah Skrede; four step grandchildren, Preston Crawford, Jeremy Crawford, Jessica Crawford and Tara Alston and seven step great-grandchildren.

         Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr. Clarington, Ohio, where services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Darla Schnegg, Rev. Bill Moran and Rev. Perry Baranich officiating.

Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, OH.

Barker, Richard D. Barker

          Richard D. “Quack” Barker, 89, of Flushing, OH passed peacefully on May 16, 2015.He was born January 31, 1926 in Holloway, OH the third son of Harold and Alice Bethel Barker.

          Richard enjoyed and excelled in all sports. He liked music and played the trumpet. Richard retired from B & O Railroad in 1985. He was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church, the Cadiz Country Club and St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159.

          Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, N. Jane Ballog Barker of Flushing; a son, James “Mick” Barker of Malvern, OH; a daughter, Lois (Ken) Schroeder of Rapid City, SD; a granddaughter, Lisa (Dr. Brent) Reich of Billings, MT; a great-granddaughter, Liv Reich (11) of Billings, MT; a brother, Gene “Boone” Margene Barker of Galloway, OH; four sisters, June Curtis of Greensboro, NC, Karen Helter of Lebanon, OH, Sandra Vina of Burbank, CA and Beverly Hager of Newark, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

         He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Daniel O. & Rosina (Cropp) Bethel; two infant brothers, and his brother, Vernon (Popeye) Barker; two sisters, Barbara Bernosky and Patricia Calovini-Diab.

          At Richard’s request, services will be private for immediate family.

          Nila L. Barnes age 78, of Market Street, Clarington, OH passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV. She was born July 22, 1937 in Graysville, WV the daughter of the late James Arnold and Mary Virginia Persinger Goudy. Survivors include a son, Steve “Jamie” Jr. (Denise) Barnes of Clarington; a brother, Martin Eugene (Clair Hanley) Goudy of Blue Hill, ME; seven grandchildren, Connor Goddard, Aislinn (Kyle Morris) Goddard, Destini (Chris) Cullum, Ciara (Matt Brown) Barnes, Mikayla Barnes, Steven Barnes, and Jasmine (Brandon Conner) Headley; eight great grandchildren, Zelda, Peyton, Mikalyn, Johnathan, Blayde, Stormi, Devan, and Hailey; and several nieces and nephews.

        REED — David Nathanael Beasley, 56, of Reed passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Anthony Lucy King Care Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Emmett and Bessie Sue (Tackett) Beasley late in their life. He was raised in and has lived in the community of Reed. David was a 1977 graduate of Henderson County High School. David married the love of his life, Ginny, on Oct. 1, 1977, and they have been married 37 years. During the last eight years, she not only had the role of a mom and housewife, but a nurse extraordinaire.

        They were known for joking about David's medical situation, which helped David get through the bad days. David and Ginny have two sons, Nathanael, in Commonwealth Baptist Bible College in Lexington, and Aaron is still at home.

        David grew up in a Christian home and received the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 12. He was a member of Greater Vision Baptist Church in Owensboro. He grew up in a farming family, but his passion was trucking. He owned a small trucking company, D.N. Beasley Trucking, from 1977 through 1991. For the last 23 years, he owned Toy Trucks and More, building scale-model semi trucks. His passion was collecting 1?64-scale trucks since childhood and he turned his passion into a business. David often commented that his life has been so blessed by doing what he loved.

        Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Brother Ken Jones, Pastor Tim Russ, Brother Ed Hembree and Pastor Eddie Calloway are officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday. Pallbearers are Frank Westerfield, Robert Collier, Jimmy Beasley, Gary Beasley, John Esche and Don Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are Moses Johnson, Gerald Burks and Chris Burnett.

        Emmett Sylvester Beasley, 103, of Reed passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree. He was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Henderson County, son of the late William Ambrose and Susie Ann (Morris) Beasley. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Sue (Tackett) Beasley; a son, David Beasley; two sisters, Cornelia Hollis and Emma Cravens; and brothers J.L., James, Carl and Ambrose Beasley.

        He was a farmer, truck driver and had owned a store in Beals. Emmett graduated from Spottsville High School where he played basketball. He also attended Western Kentucky University. He had attended New Hope Baptist Church.

        He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Ginny Beasley of Reed; two grandsons, Nathanael Beasley of Lexington and Aaron Beasley of Reed; and nieces and nephews.

        Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Nathanael Beasley, the Rev. J.W. Haire and Rev. Eddie Calloway will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Reed. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

        Raymond Frank Berendzen, 84, of Randolph Twp., passed away January 14, 2015. He was one of five children, born to the late Charles and Anna Berendzen on April 13, 1930 in Mary's Home, Missouri.

        Papa Ray worked for Modern Tool and Die in Valley City, Ohio for over 35 years. He was an avid traveler and particularly loved going to Amish Country. Papa Ray could often be found listening to country music on the radio and watching baseball games.

        He loved his stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and his many close friends. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.

       He was a retired foreman for B & N Coal Company, Dexter City, Ohio, was a farmer, and proud of his Angus cows.  He was a member of the Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Caldwell, Ohio where he served as an elder for many years. He was a former 4-H advisor and enjoyed fishing.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona Bettinger, and brother, Charles Bettinger.

        Sherry L. (Willis) Betts, age 69, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Alliance, a daughter of the late James and Freeda (Foith) Willis, and had been a Waynesburg resident 40 years.

        Sherry was a 1964 graduate of Minerva High School. She had been employed at Geauga Plastics and Catherine's in Canton. Sherry had served as clerk for the village of Waynesburg for a number of years, and was a member of Sandy Valley American Legion Post No. 432.

        She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Connie Willis of Minerva; aunts, uncles and cousins; and her good friends, Don and Darlene Russ, Cheryl Whitcomb and Rebecca Hammond.

        Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.

        Caledonia – Timothy David Bilger, 56, died Monday, December 28, 2015 in Columbus. Born on October 7, 1959 in Valdosta, GA, he was the son of Emma Gretchen Moore Bilger and the late Kenneth D. Bilger.

        Mr. Bilger attended Valdosta High School where he was a member of the Valdosta Marching Band before moving to Columbus and graduating from Lee High School in 1977. He was a master mechanic and had received many certifications in the mechanical field. He worked at Waters Truck and Tractor Sales Parts, was the owner of Tim’s Amoco Service Station and was also a welder at Columbus Rubber & Gasket until he became disabled. He was a member of First Christian Church in Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Bilger enjoyed rock music, especially The Eagles. His hobbies included water skiing, boating, motor sports. He greatly enjoyed the time he was a high school football referee.

        His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at First Christian Church, Columbus with Rev. Ed Maurer and Bro. Don Harding officiating. His Committal Service will be at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory. Pallbearers will be Randle Flippo, Rex Stokes, Brett Johnson, Jr., Marcus Johnson, Rick Bilger, Terry Scott, and Parr Colvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Stokes, Charles Scott Johnson, Paul Scott, Jason Walace, Bob Taylor, Robert Humphrey and Little Kevin Reese.

        He will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM until the service hour.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Billetter.

          Madelyn was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and member of East Richland Friends Church.

          She loved to read and taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren to love learning. She gave generously to all her family and touched hearts at Forest Hill Nursing Care Center where she resided for a few years.

          Surviving are her children, Nancy (Gary) Clark of Glencoe, Ray Billetter Jr. (Sharon) of Lewisburg, Ohio, and Margaret (Mark) Hanna of Georgia; one sister, Sharon (Edward) Stewart of Hannibal, Ohio; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

          Christine was a former employee of Sycamore Tree Service, and Trillium in Columbus, Ohio.  Christine enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, building models, spending time with her dogs and most of all spending time with family, she was a loving and caring person to anyone she met.

          In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson; Wyatt Bloom.

        On July 7, 2007, she married Duane Bohannon.

        Don Jose Boucher Beloved father, grandfather, teacher, football coach, and friend died February 5, 2015 in Santa Rosa. Born September 17, 1926 in Oakland, California, he and his mother moved to Ohio when he was 5. After high school he joined the Army Air Corps to serve his Country during WWII. After the end of the war he attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio and graduated in 1951 with a teaching degree in Physical Education. He married Molly Ann Becker that same June. He remained in Springfield where he began his teaching career. After a couple of years he moved to California and lived in Needles, Los Angeles, Corte Madera, and finally settled in Lucas Valley. He lived there for 51 years before moving to Santa Rosa. He taught P.E. and coached football at Redwood High School, Terra Linda High School, Petaluma High School, and Balboa High School. He continued to coach football at Balboa for several years after retiring from teaching. He had a passion for football, especially THE Ohio State Buckeyes, the Oakland Raisers, and the San Francisco 49ers. His hobby was assembling and painting model soldiers. He particularly enjoyed the Civil War era and recreated battles with his models.

       He was preceded by his wife Molly Boucher and his son Victor Boucher. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Crippen of San Jos‚ and Jennifer Schmicher of Las Vegas NV; four grandchildren, Brandi Hannagan of Sacramento, Ron Schmicher of Santa Rosa, Chris Schmicher of Rogers, Arkansas, and Megan Crippen of San Jos‚; his brother Michael Mattimore of Springfield, OH and two nephews, Marc and Eric Mattimore. His lady friend of 12 years, Barbara Wein also survives him.

          Virginia W. “Wave” Boyd, age 75, of Mount Vernon got her wings on Friday morning, March 20, 2015 at Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.  She was born on September 5, 1939 in Miltonsburg, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Howiler) Keylor.

          Wave was a 1956 graduate of Woodsfield High School and moved to Mount Vernon in 1961 to work for “Clippies” until its closure in 1970.  Then she drove school bus for the Mount Vernon City Schools for 20 years. After driving bus, Wave went to work for Wenco and retired in 2004.   Wave was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 and former president of the Fraternal Order Eagles #760 in Mount Vernon.

          Wave is survived by her brothers, Paul (Pat) Keylor of Woodsfield, Marlin (Mary) Keylor of Jupiter, TN and Bruce (Linda) Keylor of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many, many friends.

          In addition to her parents, Wave was preceded in death by her husband, John Boyd; and brother, Richard Keylor Sr.

          The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1 p.m. on March 24, 2015 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon with Ben McKinstry officiating.  Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta.

          Donald E. Brown age 93, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday April 18, 2015 at the New Martinsville Health Care Center.  He was born at Round Bottom, Ohio March 25, 1922 a son of the late Albert & Grace McMahon Brown.

          He was a retired carpenter and a member of the First Christian Church of Woodsfield.

          Preceded in death by one daughter Phyllis Yoho.

          He is survived by his wife of 67 years Eva Jean Norris Brown of Woodsfield, daughters Donna (Jack) Mead of Middlebourne, West Virginia, Delilah Noll (Russ Billiter) of New Martinsville, Rhonda (Brian) Jackson of Sardis, Ohio  sons Gary Brown of Clarington, Larry (Joyce) Brown of Belmont, Ohio and step son Ralph (Connie) Young of Lewisville, Ohio, sister Doris Dunn of Dayton, Ohio, grandchildren Jason Yoho, Kelly Yoho, Dustin Mead, Abigail Tennant, Brian Noll, Devin Jackson, Kenna Ellis, Ethan Brown, step grandchildren Kimberly, Christopher, and Amanda, great grandchildren Melissa, Katie, Leah, Piper, step great grandchildren Emma, Megan, Griffin, Gavin, and Blake.

Selma E. Brown

        Age 94, of Dover, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, in the New Dawn Retirement Community. Born Feb. 8, 1921 in Sterling, Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late William and Della (Blatter) Bauman. Selma graduated from high school and went on to attend the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. She was wed to Overton W. Brown on Oct. 10, 1952, in Inglewood, Calif. The Browns were missionaries with the Mission Aviation Fellowship for over twenty years in southern Mexico and Honduras. Additionally, they worked with the Bible Club Movement in Tuscarawas County.

        Selma is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Bocnuk of Leesburg, Va.; and her grandson, Nikolai. In addition to her parents, Selma was preceded in death by her beloved Overton on Jan. 7, 2013.

        Burial will be private in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Rittman. Born April 23, 1946 in Conewago Twp., he was the son of the late Paul and Myra (Landis) Buck .       John served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and had been employed as a plastics engineer at the former AMP Inc. and later retired from Tyco Electronics.

        John is survived by his wife, Anna B. (Warner) Buck; daughters, Genevra, and husband Matthew Evans of Palermo, ME and Katharine, and husband Stephen Shellenberger of Conewago Twp.; two granddaughters, Myra Evans and Mary Shellenberger; Brothers, James & Charles Buck of Conewago Twp.; sisters, Julia Yost of Hershey and Elsie Buck of Conewago Twp., as well as numerous nieces and nephews,.

        Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Rd., Hershey. Viewing will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in Shenk's Church Cemetery, Conewago Twp.

          She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 25, 1944 a daughter of the late Paul D. and Vera V. Ambrosetti Tharp.

 Paula was a retired laborer at the former International Converter, Caldwell Ohio; a Catholic by faith and a member of the D.A.V. Women’s Auxiliary.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Burbacher on October 27, 1991.

          Surviving are one daughter, Sherry (Ed) Morrison of Zanesville, Ohio; one son, Jeffery Tittle, of Zanesville, Ohio; one brother, Lee Tharp of Tehachapi, California; two half-brothers, Larry Tharp and Jim Tharp both of Cambridge, Ohio; four granddaughters, Stephanie (Keith) Evener, Shawna (Rob) Lowry, Samantha (Tyler) McElfresh and Megan Tittle; two grandsons, Shane Crum and Corey Tittle; six great grandchildren; two step granddaughters; Allie and Samantha Morrison.

        Harold R. Burger, 76, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 in his residence.

        He was born February 14, 1939, in Jasonville, Ind. to Herman Christopher Burger and Mary Mae (Cooper) Burger.

        Harold married Mary Lee (Null) Burger on April 1, 1959,* and she passed away on July 10, 2011.

        Survivors include his son, John Burger of Jasonville, Ind.; sisters, Betty R. Goodman of Jasonville, Ind., Barbara L. Null of Jasonville, Ind., Cathy Burger-Johnson-Christman of Decatur, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Elmer Eugene Burger, Herman Franklin Burger; sister, Joann Hadley; son, Terry E. Burger.

        Harold worked as a brick maker for different companies and had also worked at Malleable and Manufacturing in Terre Haute, Ind. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Harold loved fishing and hunting. He was the happiest when he could be on a pond. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

        Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville, Indiana. Graveside Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, Ind. with Pastor Jerry Ross officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow.

Burkhalter, Sam Burkhalter

          Sam Burkhalter died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Atlanta GA. He was residing in an assisted living facility near his niece since November 2008. He was 96 years old; born, June 7, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Carl and Ida Fiscus Burkhalter of Wheeling WV and Clarington, OH.

          He was pre-deceased by two siblings, Thomas Dean Burkhalter and Jane Burkhalter Speidel and by a step daughter, Judith Lindenau.

          He was a graduate of Triadelphia High School, Wheeling, WV (1936) and the University of Alabama (1940). He joined the Army for active duty on March 22, 1941 and served for the duration of WWII, continuing with the Reserves until his retirement as a full Colonel in 1978.

          Sam enjoyed a career as a mechanical engineer and continued to work as a consultant after his retirement until 2000. He was a champion marksman; one of the President’s 100 Riflemen and he taught Army instructors for many years.

He was married to Patricia Eaton Burkhalter until her death in 1970 and to Jean Wood Burkhalter until her death in 1997.

          Sam is survived by his nieces, Daphne Burkhalter of Atlanta, GA, Celia Burkhalter Nelson of Columbus OH (and her children Patrick, Gwyneth and Elspeth); his nephews Eric Speidel of Palmdale, CA and Lee Speidel of Cincinnati OH. He is also survived by his stepson, Doug Wood of Moscow, ID and Judith Lindenau’s children Jonathan and Sara Lindenau.

          Sam will be buried in the Burkhalter family plot in Clarington next to his first wife, his parents and aunt.

          Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 14th from 10 am until time of services at 11:00 am at the Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr. Clarington, with Rev. Carla Wobschall officiating.

          A short luncheon will follow and burial will be at Clarington Cemetery with military  services.

        Clarence was a retired farmer.

        In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters Josephine Christman, Wanita Wilson, and Emma Burkhart, and one brother Edward.

        He is survived by one brother John (Fritz) Burkhart of Rittman, Ohio, nephew John Christman and niece Donna Christman of Woodsfield where he made his home. Also several other nieces and nephews.

          Earl Franklin Busch, 77, passed away at his home in Gleeson, TN, on April 18, 2015. He was born in New Matamoras on April 8, 1938 to the late Clark and Margaret Shook Busch, formerly of New Matamoras.

          In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William Ruble.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Rist Busch; sons, Audie (Bobbie) Ruble, Edward (Lonnie) Ruble; siblings, Jim, Junior, Mary and Virginia; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

          He was a construction worker and a member of Washington Hall Christian Union Church in New Matamoras.

          He loved his family, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.

          Earl was laid to rest at the Eastern Memorial Garden Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio.

          She was a graduate of Wellsbug, [sic–Wellsburg] WV in 1954 and graduated OVGH Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1957 and Ohio University with a B.S. in Nursing and Education.Evelyn had a long nursing career, including working as a nurse at OVGH, as a school nurse in Monroe County, an occupational nurse for Ormet and Wheeling -Pittsburgh Steel and an Educational Nurse for WVNCC. She was a member of Sardis Church of Christ, Sardis, OH.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Barry B. Butler.

          Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William E. Butler, Sr.; two sons, William E.Butler, Jr. of Sardis, and Richard M. 3, 2015 in his home following an extended illness.

        Vaughn, the son of Donald and Margaret (Holloway) Campbell, was born on November 7, 1939 in Ontario, California. He grew up in the area and graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, California. He resided in California for many years moving to Missouri in 1976. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Republic, Mo. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic, retiring from Peterbilt Trucking Company.

        Vaughn and Ann Lowther were united in marriage on November 1, 1959. Together they were

privileged to share 56 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Campbell.

        He is survived by his wife Ann; son, Paul Campbell, three daughters: Vonda Brann Campbell, Sonya and husband Barry Trantham, Wanda and husband Glenn Sees, all of Walnut Grove; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother David Campbell of Hesperia, California; and sister, Kim Finnan of Las Vegas, Nev.

        Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Walnut Grove, MO with interment to follow in Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove.

        She was a Christian and a member of the New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, Pinch. She taught the pre-kindergarten class at New Beginnings Church.

       She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. (Billy) McCamey and Mary Opal Medley McCamey and siblings, Freda May McCamey, Charles Keith (Kayo) McCamey (Betty), Doris Jean McCamey Wentz, and George W. McCamey (Patty).

        Mrs. Peggy will be greatly missed by her husband, James W. Cavender; brother-in-law, Clarence Wentz, and nieces, Judy Arbogast, Terri McCamey, Susan Johnson and Annette Jones, four great nephews, two great nieces, three great great nephews and three great great nieces, along with step children, James W. Cavender II, and Michelle Nichols.

        Peggy was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School, class of 1974.

          He was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on October 13, 1922 a son of the late Lewis P. and Ida Paulus Christman.

          Clayton was a retired farmer and oil field worker. He was also owner of the former Christman Turkey Farm near Woodsfield, Ohio.  He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.  He enjoyed playing euchre and in his early years playing the fiddle.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in  death by his wife, Margaret Kimpel Christman on May 22, 1991; a son, David Christman; four brothers, Nova, Walter, Roy and John Christman; and a sister, Freda Hamilton.

          Surviving are three sons, Clayton Jr. (Mary) Christman of Clarington, Ohio, Danny (Chris) Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio, Dean Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio; two daughters, Susan Dick of Powhatan, Ohio, and Holly Dick of Woodsfield, Ohio; twenty two grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several great - great grandchildren.

        Kathy L. Christman, 61, of Orient, passed away on January 11, 2015. Born on February 5, 1953 to the late Ralph* and Mary (Brown) Evans in Woodsfield, OH. Kathy will be missed by her loving family and friends.

        Survived by son, Jeff Christman; siblings, Marvin Evans, Cheryl (Jan) Taylor and Greg (Lisa) Evans; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandmother Catherine Ricer.

          Elifrede Christy, 100 of Richwood, died peacefully February 18, 2015 at her home.  She was born July 25, 1914, in Graysville to the late James and Ella Mae (Cline) Harmon.

          On September 2, 1939, she married Chancy L. Christy in Woodsfield and moved to Richwood in 1954 where they resided ever since.  He died March 16, 2004.  They were married 64 years.

          She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Richwood, serving in various capacities, serving on boards as well as being custodian with her husband.  She was an active volunteer with the Union County Board of Elections.  Elifrede loved to read and enjoyed cooking and baking.  She was a great mom and grandma, and a good friend and neighbor.

          She is survived by two sons: James R. (Sandra) Christy, Piqua; Terry K. (Joyce) Christy, Covington; four grandchildren, Jill (Lee) Arent; Keith (Lori) Christy; Andy Christy; Laina Christy; and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Greal, Harold and Lloyd Harmon.

          Funeral services were February 21, 2015 at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial followed in Claibourne Cemetery.  Memorial gifts may be made to Richwood First United Methodist Church, 18 S.           Frank Circosta, 95, of Woodsfield, formerly of Shadyside, died December 19, 2015 at Westwood Place in Woodsfield. He was born June 22, 1920 in Clarksburg, West Virginia a son of the late James and Carmela Circosta.

          Frank was owner and proprietor of bowling lanes in Bellaire, Bridgeport, Moundsville, most noteable The Riviera Lanes in Bellaire, Ohio. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio and a Shadyside High School graduate, Class of 1938.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Mitchell Circosta on August 14, 2007; sisters, Rose Santarelli and Mary Vallelonga and brothers, Larry, Nick, Joe and Louis Circosta.

          Surviving are his sons, James (Barbara) Circosta of Barnesville, Ohio, Jay (Donna Sue) Circosta of Woodsfield, Ohio and Bob (Chelsea) of Clearwater, Florida. Also his grandchildren, Stephanie (Angelo) Stio of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Craig (Janmarie) Circosta of Oreland, Pennsylvania, Jayne (Matt) Vinskovich of Woodsfield, Ohio, Susan (Mike) Snively of Cambridge, Ohio and Michael, Christopher and Angela Circosta of Clearwater, Florida; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Trevor Stio, Carmella Circosta, Matison and Jaykob Vinskovich and Major Snively.

          Family and friends were received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory Shadyside, Ohio on December 22, 2015. Funeral liturgy with Mass was celebrated December 23 at 10 am at the St. Mary Catholic Church Shadyside with Fr. Samuel R. Saprano, as Celebrant.

        SULLIVAN — Mary Francis Thompson-City, 66, of Sullivan, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, on May 10, 2015, at 11 a.m., surrounded by her family. She was born in Wright City, Okla., on Dec. 6, 1948, the daughter of John Parker and Ethel Viola Jones Parker.

        She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John C. Parker Jr. and Leonard C. Parker; and a stepbrother, Roy Shane Moore.

        Mary was a member of the Word of Life Church in Sullivan. She worked at Owens Brockway, also the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. Her love was her children and grandchildren.

        Survivors include her husband, Elmer D. City; four sons, Curtis Thompson, and Anthony Thompson (Michelle), all of Texas, Mark Thompson (Stacy) of Terre Haute, and John Brooks of Virginia; one daughter, Marla Gadberry of Florida; one stepbrother, Lester Moore of Oklahoma; one sister, Faye Robert (Jesse) of Virginia; 16 grandchildren; Joshua Thompson, Austin Thompson, Sydney Thompson, Jerricha Ashba, Jordan Ashba, Jarred Ashba, Cody Gadberry, Kyle Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Bobby and Wesley Mickelson, Cora Thompson, Dalton Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Noah Thompson and Gunner Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Gavin Meeks.

        Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Canfield officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 Wednesday. Cremation is chosen, with private burial at a later date in Center Ridge Cemetery.

          Elizabeth Clark, 96, of Beallsville, Ohio formerly of Albany, Ohio died Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was born November 25, 1918 in Rutland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Wayne and Hilda Hysell King.

          Elizabeth was a member of the New Marshfield Church of Christ.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Clark; a son, Ray Clark; and a brother, Raymond King. Surviving are two sons, Wayne (Linda) Clark of Beallsville and Steve (Donna) Clark of Orange Park, Florida; one sister, Ann Meehan of Naples, Florida; seven grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Brannon, Tammie Jones, Linaka Stein, Carrie (William) Cababat, Greg (Rebecca) Clark, Ryan Clark, Steven (Jackie) Clark; nine great grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, Christian, Ethan, Joshua, Inoa, Kelena, Zoie, and Caleb; several nieces and nephews. 

          Friends and family will be received Sunday, March 29 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Visitation will then be held at the New Marshfield Church of Christ, Monday, March 30 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 PM with Ministers Buford Brown and Jeff Wallace officiating.  Interment follows in Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, Ohio.

          Ralph L. Clark, age 86, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at his home. He was born January 10, 1929, in Middleburg, son of the late Walter Lee and Bertha Heddleson Clark.

          He studied electronics at DeVry Institute in Chicago, and he was a United States Air Force veteran. He retired in 1992 as a supervisor at Central Ohio Coal Company following 36 years of service. Mr. Clark was a member of the Reinersville United Methodist Church, a member of the Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, the Valley of Cambridge AASR, 32nd degree mason, the Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus, and he was a member of the Dexter City American Legion Post #418. He loved to golf and fish.

          In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Garry G. Clark and Dennis D. Clark, who died July 8, 2006; one grandson, Christopher Clark; and three brothers, George Lee Clark, Arthur Leland “Buzz” Clark, and Raymond Harry Clark.

          Surviving are his wife, L. Jolene Long Clark, whom he married June 18, 1950; his children, Larry L. (Linda) Clark of Reinersville, Randy R. Clark (Mark VanZanten) of Marietta, Eugene E. (Scott) Clark of Zanesville, and Alan A. (Tiah) Clark of New Concord; one sister, Louise Barnett of Devola; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Clark of Summerfield and Sandy Clark of Delaware; one brother-in-law, Ralph Long of Byesville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          William C. Clark, age 70, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born November 12, 1944, in Noble County, son of the late Little Zedrick and Rosa Belle Bates Clark.

          He was a 1964 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Mr. Clark was employed as a village police officer in Caldwell and as a deputy sheriff for the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.

He retired in 2008 from the former Mahle Corporation plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Belle Valley American Legion Post #641, and the Noble County Cruzers Car Club.

          In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Josey Lee Clark, who died July 13, 2014; two sisters, Opal Leasure and Mary LuCinda Anderson; and two brothers, Delbert B. Clark and John Jacob Clark.

          Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Bond Clark, whom he married January 12, 2002; three children, Eric K. (Sherri) Clark of Pleasant City, Billie Jo (Craig) Clark of Reinersville, and Clint P. Clark of Dexter City; three step-children, Shannon (Dusty) Wilson of Delaware, Ohio, Susan (Bud) Reed of Caldwell, and Chuck (Elaine) Smith of Belle Valley; his siblings, James R.           Beryl attended Fox Hollow School, graduated 8th grade from Monroefield and graduated from Lewisville High School in 1939 as valedictorian. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Lewisville, Ohio where she served as a piano player and Sunday School teacher.

          In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Walter Claus, whom she married September 20, 1947 (60 years of marriage), four sisters; Esther Claus, Gertrude Kahrig, Alma Burkhart, and Laura Kahrig, three brothers; Clarence, Arthur, and Paul Christman.

          Surviving are three sons; Roger (Phyllis) Claus of Lewisville, Ohio, Dale (Susie) Claus of Columbus, Ohio, and Ray (Debbie) Claus of Avon, Indiana, six grandchildren; Pam (Jeff) Horner, Russell, Ryan, Ben, Aaron, and Andrew Claus, four great grandchildren; Jeffrey and Liberti Horner, Nicholas and Felicity Claus.

He was born November 28, 1937, in Coal Run, son of the late Budd and Clara Mae Gates Cobb. He was employed by Big Lots in Cambridge in its maintenance department, and as a truck driver for Goodwill in Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, doing mechanical work, and he loved old time country music.

          In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Lucretia “Angel” McMasters; four brothers, Earl, Virgil, Ralph, and Ivan Cobb; his former wife, Margaret Cobb; and his beloved Brittany spaniel, Brittney.


          Surviving are his wife, Sue Ann Chonoski Cobb, whom he married March 22, 1979; his children, Dean (Pam) Cobb of Sydney, Arlene (Richard) Reed, Darlene (Kevin) Harris, and Linda Ewing, all of Columbus, Roy (Arin) McMasters of Summerfield, John (Carol) McMasters of Cambridge, and Clarissa McMasters of Senecaville; one brother, Walter (Shirley) Cobb of Belle Valley; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his three beloved dogs, Bissie, Marley, and Duke.

        ADA – Carol Jane Colbert passed from this life Sept. 5, 2015, at the age of 56. Carol was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Ada to her parents, Bernard Sr. and Bonnie Gray.

        Carol has been a longtime resident of Ada. She attended Ada High School and later graduated from Pontotoc County Vo-tech. Carol met her late husband, Senator Colbert Jr., in 1984, and they married a few years later.

        Carol enjoyed working in her yard and caring for animals. She loved helping people and was known for a wonderful heart. Carol also enjoyed in her spare time crafting and taking long walks.

        She is survived by her two sons, Christian and Jesse Colbert of Ada; three sisters, JoAnn and husband Paul DeaVille, Susan Bice, Linda and husband Lester Albert; four brothers, Frank and Ronald Tarr, Robert and wife LeQuitta Tarr, and Bill Gary; and a host of longtime friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews.

        Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Gray Sr. in 1968 and Bonnie Gray in 2000, and husband, Senator H. Colbert Jr. in 2004.

         He was a retired captain for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Woodsfield, Ohio and was owner/operator of Cheyenne Farms, Jerusalem, Ohio.  Bruce was a U.S. Marine veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 768, Beallsville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emory and Lena Walters.

          Surviving are his wife, Margie Haught Contos whom he married on April 14, 1990; one daughter, Brandy Contos of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Dustin (Angel) Contos of Lenore, West Virginia; two sisters, Karen (Joe) Stenger of Barnesville, Ohio, Cheryl Stephen of Barnesville, Ohio; two brothers, Kirk (Jill) Contos, of Belmont, Ohio, Chris Contos of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Hailey and Grayson Contos; and several nieces and nephews. 

         There will be no visitation or service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

        Dwight David Cook was born Sept. 19, 1952, in Rockfield and died Aug. 26, 2015, at age 62 at his home in Radcliff.

        He was the son of the late Hattie Whalin* Cook and the late C.W. Cook.

        He is survived by the mother of his sons, Janet Cook; three sons, David Cook, Jonathan Cook and Joshua Cook; sisters, Betty Hullett and Marilyn Thompson (C.P.) of Rockfield; brothers, James C. Alford of Rockfield, William Cook of Bowling Green and Charles Cook (Sherry) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Leann Jennings of Bowling Green.

        Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby & Son, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 2. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

        William "Bill" James Cooner Jr. went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, August 16, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital. He was 82.

        He was born October 26, 1932 in Ashland, Ohio to parents William James & Ethel Cooner. He was graduated from Ashland High School with the class of 1950.

        After graduating high school he went on to join the Air National Guard and served from 1950 until his retirement in 1984. A Bellville resident, Bill held the position of Bellville Police Chief for 16 years before retiring in 2001.

        He was a member of American Legion Post #535, Am Vets Post #43, National Rifle Association, State Rifle and Pistol Club and also volunteered for the Red Cross.

        He is survived by daughters Catherine (Ron) Cox of Butler and Haley Cooner of Bellville; sons John (Venus) Cooner of Columbus, Russell (Suzanne) Cooner of Leon, Iowa and William Cooner of Columbus; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Mary Jane Lautzenhiser of Ashland; and numerous friends and extended family.

        In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his previous wife Barbara (Brown) Cooner and his second wife Linda (Conner) Cooner.

        The family will receive friends Saturday August 22, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Kevin Moreland will officiate.

        William “Bill” Coplan, age 85, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015 at the Sunnyslope Nursing Home Bowerston, Ohio.  He was born in Monroe County Ohio March 14, 1929 a son of the late James & Leona Mae Craig Coplan.

        Bill retired from the Monroe County Engineers Highway Dept., and was a member of the Goudy Church of Christ.

        Preceded in death by his first wife Hilda E. Kenney Coplan in 1995, sisters Clara Coplan and Mary Forshey, brother Jim Coplan and a brother-in-law Gerald Williamson.

        He is survived by his wife of 15 years; Jean Straight Faber Coplan of Woodsfield, one son Mark Coplan of Woodsfield and his friend Dian Christman, one daughter Carol Coplan of Woodsfield, one brother Clifford (Shirley) Coplan of Tallmadge, Ohio, one sister Virginia Williamson of Marr, Ohio, sister-in-law Donna Coplan of Laings, Ohio, brother-in-law Gilbert Forshey of Woodsfield, grandchildren Danielle Coplan, and Lisa Coplan, and great grandchildren Ben and Tiffany Childs, and Chelsey Coplan, several nieces and nephews.

        Friends received from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 4 p.m. Friday January 16, 2015 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio with Paul Eddy officiating.  Burial will be made at the convenience of the family at the Goudy Cemetery near Woodsfield, Ohio.

        SUMMERSVILLE — Joshua Chad Cox, 24, of Summersville, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his home.

        He was the son of James Kevin and Jacqueline Faye Key Cox of Summersville and was born at Beckley on September 11, 1990.

        Chad was a 2009 graduate of Nicholas County High School.

        Surviving in addition to his parents are three brothers, James Kevin II (Rachel) Cox. Richard David (Ashley) Cox, all of North Carolina, and John Key at home; one nephew; one niece.

        Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville, with Rev. Delmas Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Glade Creek. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 1 p.m. until service time on Friday.

          She is survived by her mom - Viola of Calis, Ohio; sisters - Lynn (Kevin) Ekbomb of Syracuse, NY and Robin (Mike) Guy of Calis, Ohio; son - Robert (Michelle) Anderson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughters - Sue (Justin) Sundberg of Logan, Utah and Rose (Herald) Anderson of Bethesda; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.

          Preceded in death by her dad - Robert C. Craft, Sr.; and brothers - Todd Allen Craft, Robert C. Craft, Jr. and Joseph C. Craft.

        Seven Springs - Gary Linden Crosby, 78, of Seven Springs, peacefully passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home. Gary was born January 4, 1937 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Walter and Lelia Keller Crosby. At the age of nine, Gary was adopted by Frank and Hallie Keller who he called Dad and Mom. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Gary along with his son, Ken, owned and operated G & W Couriers. A jokester and somewhat temperamental by nature, Gary enjoyed chasing his wife, Winnie, and loved the catch as much as the chase. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, Gary was most happy when spending time at Topsail Island and nothing was more pleasing to Gary than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size. He was a proud member of Sandy Bottom Baptist Church.

        A service of remembrance will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dixon officiating. Interment with military honors will be Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 1 p.m. from the Virginia State Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.

       Gary is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Winnie Kennedy Crosby; two children, Ken Crosby of Richmond, VA and Lori Crosby Tracoma and husband, John of Powhatan, VA; five grandchildren, Crystal Ramus, Shannon Crosby, Scott Crosby, Jason Tracoma and Dustin Tracoma; five great-grandchildren, Alex Tracoma, Annabelle Tracoma, Desiree Ramus, Justin Ramus and Avalynn Ramus; two siblings, Deloran Buck Crosby of Richmond, VA and Bernice L. Slider of Beaver Falls, PA; along with a niece, Donna Boston; and two nephews, Jack Godbey and Joe Godbey. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Crosby; and a sister, Elaine Godbey.

        Rose A. Cunningham (McAlister), 61, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at IU Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte.

        Rose was born in La Porte on Oct. 17, 1953, to Henry and Beatrice (Handy) McAlister. After high school, she married Gayle Cunningham, and worked at American Home Foods in La Porte for about 10 years. After that, she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Rose enjoyed listening to country music (especially with her granddaughters), and playing games with her family.

        Rose is survived by her beloved children Jason Cunningham, Nick Cunningham and Jody Phillips, and two granddaughters Alexandra and Chrissy Cunningham, all of La Porte. Also surviving are her sisters Nancy Inman of South Bend and Vickie Swanson of Union Mills; and brothers Henry McAlister and John McAlister, both of La Porte, Mark McAlister of South Bend and Walter McAlister of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Christopher Cunningham; her parents; and her brother Robert McAlister.

        A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2456 E. Ind. 2, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. A time of visitation will be held from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the church.

Cusick, John Cusick

        John "The Barber" Cusick, 1950-2015, passed with his family by his side on Wednesday after battling cancer.

        John was dearly loved by his daughter, Wendy; son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Jill, and his grandchildren, Nathan, Shayla, and Micah; along with more friends than can be counted.

        A native of Tiltonsville, OH, John enjoyed golfing, gambling, fishing, sports and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

        Being a barber allowed him to make many friends.  He loved sharing stories with his clients, and hated to disappoint people when his shop was closed.

        Pap Pap will be missed, but we look forward to hearing some big stories and hearing his laughter when we see him again.

        Special thanks to the Davis family and Dominic Panepucci for all of their love and support.

          He was a former employee of Longwell Excavation and Timber, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Harry enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.

          In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Sonny Dalrymple, and one sister, Janice Matthews.

          Surviving are his wife, Sandra Rose Nalley Dalrymple, whom he married on May 1, 1982, three daughters, Lesley (Joshua) Smith of Paden City, West Virginia, Courtney Dalrymple and her fiancé' Christopher Smathers of Powhatan Point, Ohio, Kristina (Casey) Lucas of Canton, Ohio; one son, Michael (Dannelle) Dalrymple of Woodsfield, Ohio; three brothers, Roger Dalrymple, Woodsfield, Ohio, Herb Dalrymple, Lewisville, Ohio, Raymond Dalrymple, Woodsfield, Ohio; two sisters, Cheryl Wise of Graysville, Ohio, Donna Clark of Woodsfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Adam and Tyler Smith, Emmalyn Smathers, Kasen Lucas, Dillon, Makenzie, Kayleigh, Kynnlee, and Khloe Dalrymple; and several nieces and nephews.

          Gladys Ruth Danford, 104, of Barnesville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Barnesville Health Care Center.  She was born in Belmont County, Ohio on March 11, 1911 to the late Jim and Sadie (Edwards) Trott.

          Gladys was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Working Hearts Sunday School Class.  She worked as a seamstress for many years.  She started at Hansy's Mills and retired from Jonathan Logan.  Gladys was also a member of the Garment Worker's Union.

          She was saved at an old fashioned revival service at the age of 18, and baptized in Captine Creek.  She was a true Proverbs 31 woman to her Lord and family.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Hendershot; and six sisters: Pearl Lallathin, Florence Hossman, Helen Starr, Edith Basford, Doris Warrick and Mary McEndree.

          Gladys is survived by her loving husband of 78 years, Virgil Danford; son, Larry (Sandra) Danford of New Matamoras, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Robert Hendershot.

        Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 10:00am until the time of the service at noon with Pastor Richard Cox officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.

        Georgia Irene Dantic age 93, of Owensboro, passed away October 7, 2015 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky, surrounded by family and friends.  She was born to the late George and Irene Belle Cox April 19, 1922.  Georgia was a lifelong member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church and played the organ and piano for numerous years.  She retired from General Electric after many years of service.   Georgia enjoyed singing, reading her Bible, and family activities.  

        Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Dantic, one son, Randal Dantic, and eight siblings.   She is survived by sons, James (Myrna) Dantic and Paul Thomas (Idelisa) Dantic; daughter-in-law, Jill Dantic, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; sister Doris (Rev. Charles) Bennett, and several nieces and nephews.   

        Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.  The service will immediately follow at the conclusion of visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

        Datkuliak, Elvira C., age 89, of Clarington, Ohio, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at home. She was born June 1, 1925 at Clarington, the daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Frieda Bauer Roth. Elvira was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Powhatan Point, Ohio, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the St. John’s Women’s Guild.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Roth, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Foy Turner. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Elmer Datkuliak; two sons, Ronald (Karen) Datkuliak of Powhatan Point and Larry (Helen) Datkuliak of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Ila Turner of Clarington; five grand children, Reuben (Amy) Datkuliak and Levi Datkuliak, both of Powhatan Point, David (Victoria) Datkuliak of Cameron, NC, Steven Datkuliak of Gainesville, FL, and Lisa Datkuliak of Melbourne; three great grand-children, Adam and Peter Datkuliak and Carma Datkuliak; and several nieces and nephews.

          Sherrell James Daugherty, age 60, of Clarington, OH died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, WV. He was born on September 27, 1954 in New Martinsville, WV a son of the late James Myles Daugherty and Virginia Lasure Daugherty who survives of Woodsfield, OH.

 Sherrell was an employee of Sprouse Windows, New Martinsville; loved to fish and attend flea markets.

          In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katrina Janeen Grayam on November 5, 2009.

          Surviving in addition to his mother, are two sons:  Brian (Jacque) Daugherty of Jerusalem, OH and Myles (Ashley Hammel) Daugherty of Cameron, OH; two daughters:  Yolanda (James Crumm) Daugherty of Clarington and Cheryl (Dave Bright). Daugherty of Woodsfield; two brothers:  Donald (Inez) Daugherty of Clarington and Johnny Daugherty of Woodsfield; five sisters:  Eunice Daugherty and Carolyn Daugherty both of Woodsfield, Sandra (Bruce) Monahan of Cambridge, OH, Betty Jane Daugherty of Woodsfield and Linda (Clarence) Salisbury of Sardis, OH; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.at the Grisell Funeral Home, Clarington where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, with Rick Brown officiating.  Burial will be in the Clarington Cemetery, Clarington.

        Thomas A. Davis, age 62, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care in Zanesville. He was born June 10, 1952, in Ohio, son of the late Grant A. Davis and the late Evelyn C. Blake Christman. He was a 1970 graduate of Caldwell High School, and he was employed by the former Gould plant in Caldwell, and by Christman Quarry. He loved fishing and hunting.

        In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Walter Christman.

        Surviving are his sister, Sandi K. (Robert) Stapleton of Huffman, Texas; and his niece and nephews, Todd Clark, Aaron Clark, Brittney Stapleton, and Joshua Stapleton.

        DEARTH, Genova, 94 of Weirton, WV, died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2015, in Buellton, CA., where she had resided with her daughter, Sharon for the past four months.

        She is the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Lena M. Haught Dennis and was born on Aug. 7, 1920, in Paden City, WV. Genova was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel Arja Dearth, a son, David Lee Dearth and eight brothers and sisters.

        Genova is survived by seven children, Marjorie Kay (Sigmund) Kempler, Kenneth (Ruth) Dearth, Judith (Herbert) Lashhorn, Larry (Debra) Dearth, Sharon (Wes) Fritz, Martha (Bill) Lewis and Richard (Stacey) Dearth, 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great- great- grand-children.

        She spent the greater part of her life working as a homemaker, taking care of her husband and raising seven children. Her greatest thrill was spending time with her family, going to bingo, watching golf and working puzzles.

        She will be cremated in California and returned to Weirton, WV. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 135 Gilson Ave., Weirton, WV.

        Lyle Clarence Dearth, Jr .47, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, of St. Marys, WV passed away Sept. 17, 2015 at 9:56pm at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, with his wife at his side, after a courageous battle with Hepatitis C and end stage liver disease that resulted in other complications that took him home to our Lord and Savior.

        He was born Oct. 15, 1967 at Marietta, OH. He is the son of Lyle Sr. and Mickey Dearth of St. Marys, WV. He had been employed by Reed's, Inc. prior to his lengthy illness. Lyle attended First Baptist Church of St. Marys and was a 1986 St. Marys High School graduate. He was a member of the SMHS FFA, achieving the honor of State Degree, and a member of The St Marys golf team during his high school career. As an adult, he was an avid farmer and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, riding four wheelers, fishing, campfires, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, WVU, and always cheering on the hometown team The Blue Devils. Lyle also enjoyed spending time in the hay field and farming with his father who was his best friend. His favorite pastime was spending time with his daughter, Hannah Grace. He enjoyed feeding the cows at night with her, helping coach her softball team, teaching her how to hunt and taking her to McDonald's for breakfast. He was always her biggest fan in all of her sporting and academic activities. She was the light of his life and always his number one priority. Her favorite thing to do with her daddy was riding in the tractor and playing softball in the yard. She would like for him to be remembered as the best daddy that he could be and that he thought more of others than he did himself. He was a devoted husband to his wife Janice Kay Hill Dearth, whom he married on June 19, 1999, and who survives at their home with their daughter, Hannah and their dog Chloe.

        Also surviving are his parents, sister Barbara (Randy) Holland of Belmont, WV, brother Lester Dearth, of St. Marys, WV, sister Marchelle (Kirk) Hines of Marietta, OH and brother Michael (Kim Thomas) Dearth, of St. Marys, WV, mother and father-in-law Ron and Charlene Hill of Marietta, OH, sister-in-law Candy (Travis) Westfall of Marietta, OH, sister-in-law Mandy (Davey) Westfall, of Marietta, OH, brother-in-law Tony Hill, of Marietta, OH. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Keith, Kelcey and Kevin Holland of Belmont, WV, Larissa Dearth of St. Marys, WV, Corey, Carley and Makayla Hines of Marietta, OH, Josh, Mallory and Cameron Westfall of Marietta, OH and several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

        He was preceded in death by his oldest infant brother, James Allan Dearth, maternal grandparents Rosemond and Lucille Lucas, paternal grandparents Lester and Ethel Dearth, great grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

        A special thank you goes to Brian Metz and McKayla Winland for the gift of life that they gave Lyle. Through their selfless act of donating life, Lyle was able to live life to the fullest and have the opportunity to savor many precious moments with his daughter and wife. Lyle's legacy can be continued by registering as an organ donor and passing on the gift of life to others.

        Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV with Pastor John Strimer, Jason Hughes and Jody Laughery officiating. Interment will be at Adams Cemetery, Point Lookout Road, Friendly, WV. Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Monday at the funeral home and 12-1 prior to service.

        Jan, Hannah and their families would like to thank all of their community, friends and family for their continued love, prayers and support throughout his illness. To know Lyle was to love Lyle and that is what our wonderful community did.

        Patricia McSherry Del Paggio, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 12, 2015. Born on November 14, 1940 in Parma, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William McSherry and Janet Brown and the wife of the late David Del Paggio.

        Pat had an infectious smile and outgoing personality that always brightened everyone around her. She busied herself with community work and was very active in her daughters' lives. Pat will be remembered as a vivacious, energetic, and warm wife, mother, sister, and friend. She truly brought a smile to every person she ever met.

        She is survived by her daughters, Dia Roberts and husband Hugh Roberts of Winston-Salem (grandchildren Maria and Meredith Roberts), Susan Fletcher and husband John Fletcher of Candler (grandchildren Regan and Steven Fletcher), and Cherie Johnson and husband Brian Johnson of Raleigh (Coleman Johnson). Additionally, she is survived by many siblings: Janet Faye Novak, Roberta Petznick, Laura DiLallo, Jo Ann Agostinelli, Dan Brown, Betsy Wise, Jim McSherry, Bill McSherry, and Sali McSherry.

        Pat's family greatly appreciates the continued love, support, and care at Raleigh Rehabilitation Health Center, where she has resided since 1990.

        A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2PM at First Presbyterian Church, with family to receive friends following the service.

          Sharon L. Dennis, 68, of New Martinsville departed this life Monday, September 7, 2015 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. She was born January 15, 1947 in Tyler County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy Howell Posey.

          Sharon was a homemaker. She loved camping with her husbgand at the dock in St. Marys where she had several close camping friends. She was a membr of Paden Fork Chapel, Paden City.

          In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Roger and Larry Posey and a sister Cheryl Lesure.

          Sharon is survived by her husband, Charles E. Dennis. Two sons; Rodney (Linda) Dennis, Friendly and Steen (Cindy) Dennis, Sistersville; Two daughters; Annette (Rusty) Wetzel, Sistersville and Ronda (Tim) Bohrer, Proctor. A brother, Lee (Patty) Posey, New Martinsville, a sister Penny (Gary) Midcap, Sistersville, Four grandchildren; Spenser Wetzel, Caleb Bohrer, Shanna Dennis and Justin Dennis.

        Marvel J. (Jamison) Dennison, 77, residing in Sandusky, passed away late Tuesday evening, Jan. 6, 2015, in her residence after a lengthy illness.

        Marvel was born April 14, 1937, in Sandusky to Arthur J. and Delores P. (Winters) Jamison.

        Marvel was employed at the Dollar Tree as a sales clerk, the Chesapeake Factory, and most recently as a laundry assistant at the Best Western for Danny Lee.

        She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing, dancing, playing the organ, going to the clubs and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, and her dog, Maverick.

        Marvel is survived by her daughters, Debra Grooms, Tammy Thomas and Marvel (Bob) Hutchinson, all of Sandusky; sons, Arthur Killian of Sandusky and Charles (Kim) McNair Jr. of Whiteslanding; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Marshall and Darlene Lynch, both of Sandusky; brother, John Walters; special friend, Linda 'Killer' Eckart; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

        In addition to her parents, Marvel was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Dennison, in 1982; her daughter, Charlene McNair, in 1985; her son, Daniel Killian Jr.; and brothers, Harold and Donald Walters.

        The family would like to give a special thanks to Stein Hospice Care Center for the exceptional care that was given to their mother.

        Donald D. DeVault 65, of Strasburg, died Saturday August 1, 2015 in Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a 17 month illness.

        Born April 18, 1950 in Whitecourt Alberta, Canada. He was a son of the late Edward E. and May Ellen Beardsley DeVault.

        Donald honorably served his country in the United States Army, and was active in Army Navy Clubs at Beach City, Navarre and New Philadelphia. He was the owner of D & D Construction at Strasburg. Donald enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer.

        He is survived by 4 children; his brother Charles (Violet) DeVault of Panama City, Florida; and 3 sisters, Penny Ann (Rick) Gamble of New Philadelphia, Daphne (Robert) Hilberg of Mineral City, and Diana (David) McCreery of Massillon.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene DeVault.

        Funeral services will be held Thursday August 6, 2015 at 11AM in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave. Bolivar. Private burial will take place in Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman at a later date.         Dennis “Denny” Lee Doerr, 74, of Merritt Island, FL passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015. A native of Louisville, KY, Denny first moved to Florida in 1988, returning to KY in 1995, before making his way back to Merritt Island in 2008. He served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Trinity High School in Kentucky where he was the first quarterback to beat Saint X. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University and worked as a financial planner. He also was a life insurance broker and owned his own insurance company. Denny was a certified captain and was the former President of the Sailing Club in Louisville and former owner of Limestone Marina. He was a member of the Port Canaveral Yacht Club and former member of the Merritt Island Moose Lodge. Denny was full of life and will be remembered for the way he could light up the room and make others smile. A true adventurer, he loved sailing, free diving, fishing and enjoyed any outdoor adventure.

        He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Anna Doerr; six children: Jeff Doerr (Robin), Darren Doerr, Spencer Doerr, Michael Wyatt (Donna), Jeff Wyatt (Laura), and Lisa Harris (Nathaniel); sister, Linda Kremer (David) and their children, Rob Kremer (Missy) and Amy Treibly (Scott); and 14 grandchildren.

        In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of the Captain’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1PM at the Port Canaveral Yacht Club: 910 Mullet Drive, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920.           Jane Lenora Dolan of Woodsfield, passed away July 11, 2015 at her home. She was born in her home in Richmond, Indiana, a daughter of the late John F. and Leah Watkins.

          Jane attended both Barnesville and Woodsfield Church of the Nazarene where she played piano for both churches. Jane was an ordained minister for the Church of Christ in Christian Union for which she helped found a church in Madison, Wisconsin. Jane also held a local preaching license with different Nazarene churches that she attended over the years. She has written over 50 gospel songs and published an album of 10 of these songs in 1999.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a younger brother Charles D. Watkins and two sons-in-law. Jeffery Palfrey and Patrick Schooley.

Surviving Jane is her husband Scott of 21 years; four children, Rhonda (Mike) Raver of Carrol, Ohio, Nathan Simons and life partner Frank of Grove City, Ohio, Carl (Beth) Simons of Madison, Wisconsin, Leanne Simons, of Dublin, Ohio; four brothers, John F. Watkins Jr. of Imlay City, Michigan, Joseph W. Watkins of Noblesville, Indiana, Robert A. Watkins, of Brooksville, Ohio, Phillips A. Watkins of Madison, Wisconsin; one sister Leanne Miller of Terre Haute, Indiana, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

          A loving husband and uncle, Richard worked as Purchasing Agent for Rockwell International and Hamilton Beach and later years, retired from farming. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Quaker City 0500, the Barnesville Elks #1699, life time member of the NRA, and served 15 years on the Guernsey Muskingum Electric Board.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Dollison.

          Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Dollison of Quaker City; sister-in-law, Sharron Dollison; nephew, Dr. Carl R. (Lori) Dollison of Quaker City; niece, Christine (John) Huffstutler; great nieces, Victoria, Lauren, Caitlin; great nephew, Jack; and his good friend, John Grissom.

          Helen Aileen Drake, 102, of Marietta, passed away Jan. 25, 2015, at Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born April 4, 1912, in Alliance, Ohio to the late James F. and Ina Waife Cline McHugh.

          Helen was a teacher for 43 years for Switzerland of Ohio Local Schools. She was a member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church, Monroe and Washington County Retired Teachers Association, Muskingum Garden Club and Reno Garden Club.

          Helen is survived by her daughter Bonnie Jane Forni (David) of New Matamoras, Ohio, three step-daughters Cindy (Doug) Wittekind, Beverly (John) Huffman, Nancy (Allan) Tubaugh; one step-son Dean Riley;  grandchildren Kyle (Laura) Forni, Glenn (Adrienne) Forni and Aleesia Forni (John);  seven step-grandchildren; Tommy Keylor, Missy Keylor, Allison (Shane) Mincks, Yalanda (Rick) Mullen, Alexandra (Scott) Trew, Cassidy (Kayleigh)Tubaugh and Braison Tubaugh: 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Beryl Poulton,  and Margie Olson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Glenn Dye, second husband Carl Drake, two sisters, a brother, a step-daughter, two nieces and a nephew.

          Helen graduated from Salem High School and Kent State University. She taught her entire 43 year career in Benton Township, Monroe County - her first six years in one room schools, then 32 years at Brownsville School teaching the four primary grades and the later years at Midway Elementary teaching only 2nd grade. Helen loved teaching and was devoted to her students.

          Helen was widely known for her love of decorating (both her home and herself), love of gardening, and her generosity. From her daughter, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and in-laws to former students, neighbors and friends, Helen loved them all. She could always be counted on to remember each one with cards, gifts or a note on their special days.

          Services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, Marietta, OH. with Pastor Darla Schnegg officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, Ohio. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 30 at the funeral home.

Drake, Jacquelyn Sue Drake, nee Montgomery

        ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- Jacquelyn "Jackie" Sue Drake, 61, of Deltona, died suddenly Monday (Sept. 14, 2015).

        She was the daughter of Herbert and Louise Montgomery.

        Mrs. Drake was a 1972 graduate of Cambridge High School, Cambridge, Ohio. She is a member of the Ninth Street Methodist Church, and was employed as a deputy clerk at the Seminole County Courthouse in Sanford for 12 years.

        She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Montgomery; sister, Connie Johnson; brother, Don Montgomery; granddaughter, Amy Drake; and stepfather, John Severance.

        She leaves her husband, Dan, and son, Scott of Deltona; son, Danny (Cheryl) and grandson, Christian of Orlando; brother, Dave Montgomery of Lakeland; mother, Louise Severance of Orange City; five nephews and two nieces.

        Friends were received Thursday at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, where services followed at 7 p.m.

 

Drengacs, John Drengacs III

          John Drengacs III, 57, Powhatan Point, died February 3, 2015 at his home. John was born May 5, 1957 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late John and Shirley Scott Drengacs Jr.

          He was employed at Murray Energy’s #6 Mine, was a Protestant by faith. He was an avid fisherman and bow hunter and a member of the Powhatan Sportsman Club and the Powhatan Bass Club.

          Surviving are his wife, Teresa Ady Drengacs, a daughter Valerie (Josh) Lude of Rayland, OH and a son Jeremy (Jill) Drengacs of Wheeling, WV, two grandchildren, Rylee Lude and Gabriel Lude.

          Family and friends were received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Powhatan Point, Ohio on Feb. 6, 2015 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. with Lorna Knight officiating.

          Final arrangement will be at the convenience of the family.

 

Duncan, Patricia L. Ducan, nee Sievertson

          Patricia L. Duncan, age 83, of Cumming, Ga., formerly of Baton Rouge, LS, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Patricia was of the Methodist Faith and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s group. She loved to travel all over the world. She was passionate about her family, especially her childen and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Duncan; brother, William Sievertson; granddaughter, Lindsey Marshall.

          She is survived by her childen, Robert Marc Duncan, Jill Duncan Marshall, Jan Duncan LeBlanc (Michael) and Jean Duncan Carville (Neil); brother General John Sievertson (Anna Lee); grandchildren, Valerie Marshall, Britta LeBlanc Morrison, Meika LeBlalnc, Sara Sarville, Evan LeBlanc, Abby Carville, Ethan LeBlanc and Ducan Carville; great grandchildren, Gaines Gossard, Leah Gossard.

Menorial services were held on Saturday, November 28th, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 3140 Pleasant Grove Road, Cumming, GA 30028. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, GA, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Dupee, Sally Dupee, nee Brown

        Sally Dupee, 71, of Wellington, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. She was born in Lodi on December 7, 1944 to the late Lawrence and Blanche (nee McConnell) Brown. Sally was a graduate of North Fairfield High School and grew up in Greenwich before moving to Wellington in 1975.

       Sally was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her love and care. She was also very artistic and enjoyed painting. Sally was a member of the Wellington First United Methodist Church.

        Sally is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Robert; son Steven (Laurie) of Wellington; granddaughters Hanna and Jessica; a brother Loren Brown of Greenwich. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Jr., and her daughter Shelly Dupee.

        Friends and family will gather on Saturday, December 26, at the Wellington First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington from 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Wilson will officiate and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Dye, Franklin S. Dye

          Franklin S. Dye of New Matamoras died April 8, 2015. Franklin was born December 24, 1916 to Forest Hunter Dye and Cora Alma Fox Dye at Dye Ridge, Benton Township, Monroe County.

          He married Mildred Barnhouse April 2, 1937 who predeceased him on February 7, 2008.

          Surviving are their children, a daughter, Norma Jean Antill and a son, Roger Franklin (Darlene Cline) Dye; grandchildren:  Janice (Terry) Pringle, Tammie Jean (Loren) Rinard, Vickie Turner, Brenda (Mark) Mendenhall, Valerie McPeek, Franklin Dale (Kim) Antill; great grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Lauer, Lauren (Roman) Thompson, Marcie (Josh Rockwell) Turner, Tiffany (Tyler) Schumacher, Benjamin (Megan Pape) Turner, Amy Jean (Chad) Kilburn, Quinton (Alissa) McPeek, Heidi (Kris Comstock) McPeek, Nicodemus Franklin Antill, Anna Aubrey Antill; great-great grandchildren: Leigha and Blake Lauer, Raylin and Lucas Schumacher and Lyla Thompson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Christine Barnhouse Thomas and Vivian Dye along with nieces and nephews.

          Deceased are a granddaughter, Rhonda Dye-1959; son-in-law, L. Dale Antill-2014; siblings: an infant brother-1904; Ruthella Dye-1921; Martha Rose Dye Winland Cline-2008; Lois Dye Graham-2010; Willis Dye-2012.

          He was a husband, dad and grandpa called Bobby for a few years by the Antill grandchildren. He graduated from Graysville High School and Ohio University Athens. He was a schoolteacher at Bloomfield, Pine Knob, Fox, Yankeeburg, Brownsville, Sardis and Hannibal; a general store keeper at Rinard Mills and Brownsville; a dairy and beef farmer and also shared with his wife the job of telephone central at Bloomfield. He was an agent and director of the German Farmer’s Insurance Agency, a former member of Sons of Union Veterans-the last remaining grandson of Civil War soldier Benjamin Franklin Dye and a member of Monroe County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations. He was interested in genealogy, had a memory for telling stories and was known to quote Anna Bell Lee by Poe to Mildred on April 2, 1995 anniversary.

          He was a member of New Matamoras United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 549; a life member of the Matamoras Area Historical Society, Post Office Box 1846; a member/organizer of the Jericho Cemetery and Perpetual Care Association, Post Office Box 46 and a member of the Matamoras Area Senior Citizens, Post Office Box 604. Donations may be given to any of the above organizations at the New Matamoras OH 45767 Post Office Box listed.

          Calling hours were Sunday, April 12 at Hadley Funeral Home, Matamoras Chapel.

          Services were held Monday, April 13, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial followed in Matamoras Cemetery.
