Missouri so he could embrace his love for the outdoors and the love he had for
his animals. Buck was known as "The Beast Master". All animals sensed
his love for them and were drawn to him, even his coyote Maggie which he raised
from a baby. Buck was known for being a man of his word and his strength of
character, along with his unique sense of humor that left a lasting impression
on everyone he came in contact with. Buck will be missed by many, especially
his family on their birthdays for his gift of "SINGING" to them, and
the legendary life he left behind for all to tell and remember for many years
to come.
Memorial services will be held in California at a later date with family and friends. Please make any donations in memory of Buck to the SPCA. Condolences may be sent to Barbara Snider at 21465 E 1300 Road, Stockton, MO 65785.

Staley,
Vivian Geraldine "Jerry" Staley, nee Wright
Source: timesonline.com;
Sep 2014
Vivian
Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Wright Staley, 82, of Franklin, TN, formerly of Georgetown,
PA, slipped the bounds of earth into the loving arms of Jesus her Savior early
in the morning of September 3, 2014 at Williamson Medical Center, Franklin, TN,
after a lengthy bout with pneumonia.
She was
preceded on this glorious journey on August 20, 2013, by her beloved husband of
58 years, Paul Dean Staley. Also gone on before her were parents, Edgar E.
Wright and Gladys M. Anderson Wright; a dear sister, Shirley Wright Schrockman,
and wonderful brother-in-law, Charles ‘Chuck’ Schrockman.
She is
survived by son, Paul David Staley; daughter-in-law, Lynn Fyffe Staley of Lodi,
CA; daughter, Karen Ruth Staley, and daughter-in-law, Laurie Lynn Larson of
Brentwood, TN, along with many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews
from the surviving Schrockman, Wagner, Mark, Giarletta, and Staley generations.
Jerry
was born July 2, 1932, in Weirton, WV. In her early years, she attended a one
room schoolhouse in the country then later moved to the ‘city’ and graduated
from Weir High where she made many life-long friends before getting her first
job as a switchboard operator for Weirton Steel Corp. After meeting a handsome
blonde haired man with a million watt smile and stellar dancing skills at Rock
Springs Park, she and Paul were engaged within a few months and married on May
12, 1956 at Paris Presbyterian Church. Paul said he knew right away she was
‘The One’ and continued to hold that sentiment through their entire marriage.
They both remained fiercely and lovingly devoted through thick and thin.
After
marrying, Paul built their house on Rt. 168 in Georgetown, PA, and Jerry became
a housewife until David and Karen were in high school when she began a long
career as a teacher’s aide at South Side Area Elementary in Hookstown, PA. Both
Jerry and Paul were very present and involved parents who never missed a band
concert, football or basketball game or any of the many other activities the
kids were part of. Jerry’s South Side colleagues all spoke of their love,
respect and admiration for her easy going nature, willingness to help others
and patience with both the school children and staff.
Jerry
and Paul were also faithful members of Bethel United Methodist Church near
their home for over 50 years. They both felt blessed to have so many kind and
generous neighbors and church family who regularly came by to check on them,
bring them home cooked meals, and sit on the porch and visit. Most anyone’s
friends and neighbors would do these things for a short-term illness but Paul
and Jerry’s friends, neighbors and church family did this religiously for
nearly two decades!
Jerry
was a kind and loving person to all in her sphere of influence.
She was
truly the epitome of an ‘All American Girl Next Door’ whose faith was evident
by her actions not just her words. She and Paul enjoyed home life, camping and
Western Square Dancing with their local group The Peppy Promenaders.
After
caring for both her own mother and mother-in-law who suffered dementia in their
last several years, Jerry again became a selfless caretaker for Paul who began
a 17 year daily health battle with a stroke in 1997. Jerry’s own health began
to decline a few years later and Karen realizing both parents needed around the
clock care.
After a
year at Wyngate Assisted Living in Weirton, WV, they were able to move back
into their home thanks to the many wonderful caretakers who spoiled Jerry and
Paul by catering to their every need and became family. There are not enough
accolades to describe the selfless compassion of these ‘Angels On Earth.’ When it was evident Jerry and Paul needed an even
higher level of care, daughter Karen moved them to an assisted living facility
near her in Nashville, TN. Less than a week after Paul’s passing, Jerry was
injured and entered the hospital for several weeks and finally residing for
almost a year at NHC Place, Cool Springs Skilled Care, also near her daughter
Karen in Brentwood, TN. There ‘Miss Jerry’ was loved and doted on by so many of
the staff that despite relentless chronic pain issues and related health
challenges she enjoyed her last days with people who were no longer strangers
but caring and compassionate friends.
Karen
felt blessed to spend nearly every day of the last two years with both of her
parents. Despite deep homesickness from having to leave all they had ever known
and loved for such a drastic change of geography and culture, Jerry and Paul
were still glad to be living out their last days with their beloved daughter
Karen. Karen would like to thank the many faithful PA and WV friends and
neighbors who continued to keep in touch with Jerry and Paul after their move
to TN by calling and sending encouraging letters, cards and cookies.
Both
Jerry and Paul exemplified the virtues of honesty, integrity, loyalty,
friendship and a deep faith. The world has lost two wonderful people but Heaven
has gained two more beloved children.
Visitation for Jerry will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 10:30 a.m.
until time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME &
CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Pastor Ken Jacobs will
preside. Burial will follow at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, 1530 Rt. 168, Hookstown, PA.
In lieu
of flowers, the family requests making a donation to Bethel United Methodist
Church, 2137 Rt. 168, Georgetown, PA 15043.

Youngstown police
investigating fatal shooting on Tod Lane
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio
Youngstown police say an unknown dispute between two men, who at one
time were friends, is possibly behind the city's most
recent homicide.
The suspect Prince Jennings had been at
116 Tod Lane a few times on Friday looking for his estranged friend. Police say
Dillon Howard wasn't home so Jennings went looking for him.
Sergeant John Purdue, with Youngstown
PD, said, "Earlier that day he had seen Howard and a friend of his walking
on Wick Avenue, and Jennings took a couple of shots at Howard. Before that he
allegedly assaulted a woman who was letting him stay at her place. And early
yesterday on Mount Vernon he got into an altercation with a lady who let him
stay with her.
At around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning,
we believe the suspect came here to 116 Tod Lane, knocked on the door, then fired 12 shots into the house.

YOUNGSTOWN
Investigators say the suspect in the
shooting death of a 33-year-old woman in a North Side home early Saturday was
looking for someone else.
Detective Sgt. John Perdue, lead
investigator, said the suspect, Prince Jennings, 29, was looking for an
ex-boyfriend of someone inside the home when he fired several shots inside
about 12:55 a.m. Saturday.
Killed in the shooting was Shannon
Strosnider. Reports said she was shot in the calf and was unresponsive when
found by police and the other people inside the home. Reports said her friends
told officers Strosnider suffered from a heart ailment.
Perdue said that Jennings had shot at
the ex-boyfriend at Wick and Bissell avenues Friday afternoon, and
investigators think Jennings headed over to the house because he believed the
man would be there.

Cheyenne Wise:
UC, community ban
together to show
support for Wise
family
Union College students, staff members
and the community came together Friday to show their support for someone they
have only known a short while.
The college hosted a "Praying and
Playing" event to help raise funds for the family of Cheyenne Wise,
daughter of Jeremy and Katie Wise. Three-month-old Cheyenne passed away
recently after being diagnosed with cancer.
Caitlin Merritt, a Union volleyball
player and organizer of the event, said, "When we initially came up with
the idea to have a volleyball tournament to help raise money for the Wise
family, we knew it would be big, but not big enough to raise $4, 500."
Merritt said they received many requests for a special tee shirt designed
especially for the event.
"We even had people from around the
world asking for a Playing and Praying t shirt, which was awesome! We literally
put the whole thing together in about five days and the amount of support we
received from Union and the community was endless, " she
said.
Merritt said Wise has had a big impact
on her life.
"Coach Wise has impacted not only
my life, but this team's in the short amount of time we have known him. We
could not do enough to help his situation the best we could. Every cent donated
to the Playing and Praying event has helped tremendously. It is amazing to know
that as the small Union Community on this campus, we will always be there for
each other."
In a statement from Wise, he said,
"We have been so overwhelmed by the show of love and support from the
Union College community. We have lived here for only seven or eight months, and
moving here not knowing anyone. All of our family are
in Ohio and Tennessee. But after going through what we've been through -- which
no one should have to deal with, we now know we have family here in Kentucky.
Union College is amazing. Union has truly overwhelmed us with their love. We
are Union."
