That Morning
"We didn't know that
morning,
God was going to call your
name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose
you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful
memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by
one,
The chain will link
again."---Author Unknown
Following the service the immediate family

Christina was born at home on a farm
near Springfield, SD in Bon Homme County on the Missouri River. Her
schoolteacher then Americanized her name and she was called Christine. Later
she would be called Chris and Christy, her favorite title was Christy. She was
the fifth child of eight and the first girl.
They drove horse and buggy or walked to
a one-room schoolhouse a mile to a mile and a half away. When she was school
age the family moved to Potter County, near Aberdeen SD. While there, when she
was 7 years old she flew out the buggy while going around a corner because her
brothers where driving too fast. She dislocated her hip, knee and broke her
femur. She would miss a lot of school and while recuperating she taught her
mother how to read English. Her Mother said if Christina would teach her what
she knew, then she would teach Christina the rest of the schoolbook. After
Christina's mother learned English her father declared to the family that no
Danish would be spoken at home.
They packed their lunches in lard cans
and often for lunch they would have a baked potato that had been baked in the
school stove along with the other kid's potatoes all morning long. In order to
go to high school she had to leave home and go to Gettysburg, SD. She worked
for her board and room taking care of a family with four-year-old twins, Paul and
Pauline Westfall. They have remained life long friends. She remained there
through high school and graduated in 1934.
Upon graduation she went to work for
Northern Power and Light, where she taught people how to use electrical
appliances. She became popular for making an angel food cake in the new
electric ovens. During World War II she moved to Seattle, Washington and worked
as a bank teller where she met her husband Earl Meeks. Six months later they
where married on November 6, 1942 and enjoyed 39 years of a happy marriage.
She was an avid reader who was
concerned with current events and political issues. She continued to self
educate with a special interest in vocabulary her lifelong. She spent the
majority of her life as a homemaker her hobbies included: sewing, handwork,
canning, baking bread and gardening. She was active in Tibbets' Methodist
Church and was a much-appreciated Girl Scout leader where she taught among
other things, horticulture, sewing, and basket weaving.
Eventually she went back to work and
retired from the King County Treasury Office. She loved to travel with her

3rd
person dies of injuries in Lolo crash
Source: The Indy Star, [Indianapolis, Indiana]; 12
Mar 2014
MISSOULA – A 47-year-old Florence woman
is the third person to die as a result of a Feb. 22 head-on crash on U.S.
Highway 93 south of Lolo.
Missoula County sheriff’s spokeswoman
Paige Pavalone says 47-year-old Pam Okon died Tuesday morning of injuries
suffered in the crash.
Okon’s 9-year-old daughter, Meghan,
died of her injuries the day after the crash while the driver of the other
vehicle, 23-year-old Hanna Capen of Missoula, died at the scene.
The Montana Highway Patrol says Capen
lost control of her pickup truck on the icy road, it
crossed the center line and collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by
Okon. Okon’s other daughter, Morghan, spent just more than a week in the
hospital.
Source: missoulian. com - March
23, 2014
This is the story about an amazing
woman, a vibrant little girl, and their extraordinary life together. It’s about
Pam and Meghan Okon, their life, their love and how they left us far too soon.
Pam Okon met her husband, Randy, while
both were working for the Missoula Fire Department. They fell in love and
decided to spend their lives together. Of course, children were very much part
of the plan; the first of two dreams of parenthood were realized when two
gracious, beautiful young people decided that their baby girl would join the
Okon family. Meghan Sierra Okon lit up their hearts and, three years later,
another blessed gift in the form of a spunky, curly-haired girl they named
Morghan would make their family complete. Pam was overjoyed with her girls,
often saying “They were birthed from my heart.”
Randy continued to work for Missoula
Fire and Pam joined the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation
as an Incident Business Coordinator. Pam was an expert in matters related to
fire finance; she was also a member of a National Type 1 Incident Management
Team, traveling around the country to wildfires and other critical incidents to
offer her expertise. She worked in many different capacities in the fire
business sector and was highly regarded and sought after by many in the fire
community. Randy and Pam’s work in fire services had quite an affect on their
girls: they knew firsthand the sacrifice and reward that comes from helping
others. Meghan in particular, never passed up the opportunity to make a
difference in the lives of everyone she knew. The word many of her friends used
to describe her was “kind.”
Though she had many titles, Pam’s
favorites by far were wife and mother. Her girls, Meghan and Morghan, were the
light of her life, as was the opportunity to share them with her husband,
Randy, and their extended family and friends. She absolutely loved the new home
they had just built together out in the country. Pam had a keen sense of humor,
a joyful heart, and a passion for helping others.
Meghan was a bright-eyed girl with an
infectious smile and a kind heart. She had a quick wit, a bold sense of
adventure, and boundless energy. Whether riding horses, fishing, sailing or
playing with her friends, Meghan was up for anything; she loved life and lived
it to the fullest. For her little sister, Morghan, she was a role model,
confidante and best friend.
The entire family had an adventurous
spirit. Pam and Randy learned to sail and the family frequently set out to
exotic locales for some fun in the sun and the tranquil life at sea. Pam spoke
wistfully of taking the girls out of school and living at sea for a year. There
are precious memories of camping trips, a visit to Disneyland, and more. The
four of them sure knew how to live, love and have fun!
Tragically, this story took an
unexpected turn when Pam and the girls were involved in a vehicle accident on
icy roads not far from their home. It was to be a special “Mother-Daughter date
night,” which all had been looking forward to for some time. But it was not to
be. Heaven has gained two angels in Meghan and Pam, and we are left with broken
hearts, but a deep appreciation for each day we had to spend with them. The
sting of our loss is made bearable by the knowledge that Pam and Meghan are
together and that we will see them again in Heaven. Until then, whenever we
gaze upon an ocean sunset, a wildflower, or the Montana Sky, we will think of
them and be reminded once more of the beauty they brought to our world. Their
time was brief, but our precious memories will endure forever.
A Celebration of Life for Pam and
Meghan Okon will be held on Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. at Florence Carlton
School, Florence. In lieu of flowers, donations in support of the Butterfly
House, P.O. Box 8885, Missoula, MT 59807, are requested. This fledgling project
was dear to Meghan, and Pam would certainly want to ensure continued support of
it for the enjoyment of other kids into the future. Condolences can be sent to
the Okon family home at 1165 Neon Moon Lane, Florence, MT 59833.
Oldemeyer, Shirley Fae Oldemeyer, nee Schlessinger
Source: The Longmont [Colorado] Times-Call; 9 Mar
2014
Shirley Fae (Schlessinger) Oldemeyer of
Longmont, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Sterling House of Littleton where she
spent the last seven months of her life to be near her daughter Kristin and
family. Her two daughters were with her when she died of heart failure. She was
89 years old.
Shirley was born June 23, 1924, at the
home of her aunt and uncle in Colorado Springs. She grew up there, the daughter
of a meat cutter and grocery store owner, and graduated from Colorado Springs
High School in 1942. She entered Colorado A&M that
fall where she met and married US Army First Lt. Robert (Bob) King Oldemeyer,
the beginning of a happy and productive partnership and family. Shirley left
before the end of her sophomore year to follow Bob to various posts before he
was shipped to Europe. At that point she moved back to her parents' house in
Colorado Springs and shared a small room with her much younger sister and her
first daughter Janine who was born while Bob was in the occupation army. When
he came home, they lived in a tiny trailer in Fort Collins while Bob finished
his B.S. and then moved to Madison, Wisconsin to finish Bob's education during
which time daughter Kristin was born. Shirley's first passion (she was always passionate
about whatever she was involved in) was her family to the end of her days. When
Bob and Shirley moved to Longmont in 1950, she was a Girl Scout leader for both
daughters, taught their Sunday School classes, sewed
and knitted for them by the hour, was President of PTA and was generally
involved with every aspect of their lives. For Bob, she entertained his fellow
scientists from around the world, travelled with him on business, and gave him
the freedom to pursue his interests, as he did hers. They particularly enjoyed
travelling with children and grandchildren. They took their grandson Sterling
to Africa and their granddaughter Zella to the Far East and Australia. On her
last trip, Sterling escorted Shirley around France. In short, Shirley and Bob respected
each other dearly, especially in the context of family. He taught her to love
nature, and she led him to enjoy all the arts. They grew up together instead of
apart and gave their children wonderful lives. Shirley was a natural leader.
Jan and Kris always said she was born a generation too early. She loved being a
wife and mother but needed more in life. Like so many mothers of her daughters'
friends, she helped make Longmont, her church, and the wider community better
places. Her family determined on her 60th birthday that she had been president
of 21 local organizations, starting with Longmont Newcomers' Club. Included in
the list were presidents of the Longmont United Hospital Auxiliary, the
Longmont chapter of the American Association of University Women, Colorado
State President of P.E.O. and chairman of its international convention in
Denver, and Women's Fellowship of the First Congregational Church. Besides
these leadership positions, Shirley was a member of the Longmont United
Hospital Board for several years and the Christian Education Board for the
Colorado Synod of the United Church of Christ, the executive board of the
Colorado P.E.O. Chapter House in Colorado Springs, and heavily involved with
the St. Vrain Historical Society and its archives. In 1977, at age 53, Shirley
fulfilled her lifelong dream of obtaining her college degree. Majoring in
history, she earned her B.A. at CSU in 1980, as well as memberships in Phi Beta
Kappa and the history honorary. Both the faculty and many young students
regarded her as a friend and attended he graduation party at home. Encouraged
by her faculty advisor, she proceeded to earn an M.A. in archival management at
CSU. She freelanced for a couple of years, establishing the archives of
hospitals. Finally, starting in 1980 and commuting by 6:00 am
RTD, she worked at the Colorado State Archives in Denver for five years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her
parents Zella Alma (Bishop) Schlessinger and Marvin Sterling Schlessinger and
her sister Audrey Sucharski. Husband Dr. Robert Oldemeyer died in 2006.
Her survivors include daughters Janine
Reid and her husband William Reid of Massachusetts, and Kristin Moyer and her husband Kenneth Moyer of Littleton and their children
Zella and her husband Jason Goettsch, and Sterling Oldemeyer. Two young
grandsons, Oliver and Jack Goettsch gave her great pleasure these past two
years. Bob's sister Beverly Decker and brother Donald
Oldemeyer and their families remain close.

If you could see me now you would understand why I’m no
longer there. Remember my spirit that is the real me because I’m still very
much alive. I’ve just been set free, OH, if you could only see! I have beheld
our Father’s face and I’ve touched my Savior’s hand. All of Heaven’s angels
rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the
gates of pearl I’ve walked on the golden streets. I’ve touched the walls of
jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and
nothing could compare. I’ve even seen your mansion and someday I’ll meet you
there. Let Jesus be your guide because His Word will show you the way! So
please don’t cry because we will meet again someday. By Patsy Stambaugh

Mr. Reeder was unresponsive when a

The officer was able to get Mr. Reeder
