Source: Bauer Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, December 2009 Hilda E. Abbott, age 74, of Woodsfield, Ohio died Sunday December 13, 2009 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born December 1, 1935 in Monroe County Ohio a daughter of the late Alvy& Laura Holmes Berry.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by her husband: Edward L. Abbott- 2005, 2 sons: Brad and Gary Abbott, 1 grandson: Brandon Abbott, 1 great grandson, 2 sisters: Betty Swallie & Wilma Swallie, 1 brother: Elmer Berry, and an infant sister: Nellie.

She is survived by 2 sons: Roger (Jenny) Abbott - Clarington, Ohio,Doug Abbott -Woodsfield, Ohio, 1 daughter: Debbie Abbott - Marietta, Ohio, 13 grandchildren. Friends received from (2-4) & (6-8) p.m. Tuesday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday December 16, 2009 with Minister Jeff Rich officiating. Interment in the Jerusalem Cemetery Jerusalem, Ohio.

Adams, Elmer E. Adams, Jr.  “Bud”

Elmer E. Adams Jr. (Bud), of Woodsfield, Ohio age 84 passed away Tuesday July 14, 2009, after a short illness. Beloved husband of 46 years to Catherine; Living father of Cynthia (Adams) Riley; dearest grandfather of Steven Riley and Susanne (Riley) Haines; dearest brother to Audrey Carbone; dearest great-grandfather to Cole and Tessa Riley and also Nilah, Gwen and Riley Haines; Elmer was born and spent the majority of his life in Brimfield, Oh. Living his last years in Woodsfield, OH. Elmer served in the United states Navy during World War II, Serving with the Ninth Australian Division before being honorably discharged. Elmer was a graduate of Kent State High School and attended Kent State Univrsity. Elmer retired after 32 years of service with Ohio Bell Telephone Company. He loved to travel, fishing in Canada and hunting. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. There will be No services or calling hours.

 

Adkins, Mary Agnes Adkins nee Hughes

ADKINS, Mary Agnes, 87, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Monday, February, 2, 2009 in Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab. She was born August 21, 1921, in Temperanceville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph A. Hughes and Rose V. Pfeffer Hughes.

Mary was a homemaker and worked with the former Barnesville Manufacturing Co., and was a member of the Barnesville Assumption Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (Doc) Adkins; a sister, Constance I. Biedenbach and brothers, Frank, Ernest and Anthony Hughes.

Surviving are four daughters, Jenny (John) Loos of Cambridge, Ohio, Mary Lou (Don) Pandzik of Powhatan, Ohio, Nancy (Lee) Cunard, and Barb (Russell) Lackie, all of Barnesville; three sons, Fred (Mary) Adkins of Barnesville, Dallas (Gloria) Adkins and Ralph (Phyliss) Adkins, all of Woodsfield, Ohio; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kelly-Kemp- Braido Funeral Home, 702 East Main Street, Barnesville, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville, with Monsignor Mark Froelich officiating. Burial in Assumption Cemetary, Barnesville.

 

Alleman, Gertrude Katheran Alleman nee Holtsclaw

Source: Waiters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, November 2009 Gertrude "Gertie" Katheran Holtsclaw Alleman, 89, of the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the center. She was born at Benwood, Ohio on December 29, 1919 a daughter of the late James and Margaret Ann "Annie" Craig Holtsclaw.

Gertie was a homemaker and was a member of the Moffett-Fletcher United Methodist Church near Woodsfield, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Alleman on May 13, 1974; one brother, Wilbur Holtsclaw; three sisters, Velma Holtsclaw, Ethel Pyles and Opal Claus.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law: Florence Alleman of Sardis, Ohio, Elizabeth Alleman of Woodsfield, Ohio and Wilma Alleman of Woodsfield, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Waters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

 

Amos, Charles William Amos

        AMOS, Charles "Chuckie" William, 65, of McColloch Street in Wheeling, W.Va., formerly of Greggsville, W.Va., went to meet his savior on Sunday, August 23, 2009, in Wheeling Hospital.

        Charlie was a former employee of McKeen Security; Wheeling Coffee & Spice and the Wheeling Civic Center. He also served for years as a police reservist.

        He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Velva Bowers Amos; a brother, Paul Amos; and a sister, Louise Howe

        He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 25 years, Gaynelle; two children, Amy Hutchison (Matthew Cox) and James (Holly) Hutchison both of Wheeling; two granddaughters, Grace Arianna age five and Makayla Hope age two, these girls were pappy's pride and joy; two brothers, Leroy (Sandy) Armstrong of Waynesburg, Pa. and George (Sis) Amos of Benwood, W.Va.; a sister, Dorothy Ullom of Dallas, W.Va.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

        Charlie will forever be remembered by those who loved him as testament to the strength of the human spirit and proof that miracles do happen. He will be sadly missed.

        Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at CARE Funeral & Cremation Service, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, WV, where services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Leigh Warmbrand officiating.

Antill, Mona Irene Antill nee Venham

Marietta Times, Marietta, Ohio, dated, September 24, 2009

VINCENT - Mona Irene Venham Antill, 51, of Vincent, Ohio, left this world Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2009) to enter "The Next Place."

She was born Oct. 9, 1957, and just as God adopts us into his family, she was adopted and raised by Daniel T. and Irene J. Beck Venham as their very own.

Mona was a member of Veto Church of Christ, attended Marietta High School, graduated from Washington State College of Marietta with honors. She had worked for 15 years at Harts-Big Bear Plus and for 11 years in the office of Wood Crafters in Parkersburg, until her health failed.

She married David Antill on Dec. 21,1974. He is of Vincent, Ohio, and he survives with two sons, Jason J. Antill (Tammy) and Joseph S. Antill (Denice), both of Marietta. A grandson, Gage S. Antill, and granddaughters, Kera Raine Antill and Jazzmine Antill, stepgrandsons, Ben Brady and Nathan Brady, two stepgranddaughters, Kayla Wentz and Kaitlynn Williams, also survive. She is also survived by one sister, Linda S. Venham of Sardis, Ohio; several nephews and nieces; and treasured friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas D. Venham and Terry D. Venham; one sister, Judith A. Venham Friend (birth mother); and beloved nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 25, 2009) at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, with Dan Plum officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Sept. 24, 2009) at the funeral home.

 

Archer, Anna "Tina" Archer, nee Lattea

        Anna "Tina" Archer, 82, longtime resident of Akron and Florida, passed away Dec. 17, 2009, unexpectedly at her home in Florida.

        Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill Archer; she is survived by her sons, Gary (Mary Jane) Archer of Florida and Rick Archer of Canal Fulton; daughter, Becki (Gary) Sharrock of Florida; grandchildren, Gary (Liz) Archer and Simona (Jim) Hoy; three great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson; brother, Marshall (Janet) Short; close family friend, Brian Ross; numerous other relatives and friends.

        Tina was best known in this area for her and Bill owning Archer's Blue Roof Cottages, Marina and Resort in Campbellford, Ont., Canada. She was also former owner of Spring Heights Educational Center in Spencer, W.Va. Along with Bill, she owned several other businesses during her lifetime.

        Funeral services WEDNESDAY 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Pastor Brent Malone officiating. Burial Canal Fulton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY 4 to 7 p.m.

 

Archer, Donald Vincent Archer

Marietta Times, Marietta, Ohio, dated, April 16, 2009

Donald Vincent Archer, 86, of Caldwell formerly of Circleville, passed away on Wednesday, April 15 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born in East Union, OH on July 15, 1922 a son of the late Ford and Dean Archer. He married his high school sweetheart, Martha Geneva (Wilson) Archer in 1945.

Don served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard, was a graduate of The Ohio State University and a member of the Summerfield American Legion Post #415. Growing up on the farmland of Noble County instilled a passion for the land and the environment that he carried into his 33 year career as Pickaway County District Soil Conservationist. After retirement, he continued the work he loved as a surveyor for the Pickaway County Engineer. He often mentored university students studying in the field and treasured the opportunity to teach and pass along his respect for the land to the next generation.

He and Geneva made Circleville, Ohio their home for more than 56 years where he was involved in the community as a 4-H advisor and member of the Community United Methodist Church where he served as council president, treasurer, trustee and head of religious education. He and Geneva enjoyed volunteering their time each October to help bake hundreds of pumpkin pies to be sold at the Circleville Pumpkin Show as a church fundraiser.

Don was a loving father and grand-father and enjoyed spending time visiting his family in Noble County where he taught them about appreciating the simple things in life like picking raspberries, hunting and enjoying a good rain storm from a front porch rocking chair. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities like sporting events and showing cattle at the Noble County Fair.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leighton Archer and David Archer.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years Geneva Archer; two sons, Tom (Robin) Archer of Summerfield and Don (Michelle) Archer of Summerfield; four grandchildren, Alison (Matthew) Hannahs, Luke (Megan) Archer, Josh Archer and Justin Archer; one great-grandchild, Lane Hannahs; a sister, Mary Evelyn Scott and two brothers, Virgil Archer and William Archer.

Family and friends will be received at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Floyd Costello Officiating.

Arnold, Wavalene Gay Arnold, nee Yost

        Wavalene Gay Yost Arnold, 87, of Orma. West Virginia, passed away February 11, 2009 in Huntington.

        She is survived by six children, Kathleen (Ernest) Miller of Bellvue, Ohio, Karen King of Orma, Twila Ann Arnold of Belpre. Ohio, Carroll Arnold of Spencer, WV, Dale Arnold of Parkersburg, WV, and Danny (Linda) Arnold of Orma; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

        She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Matilda Yost; 4 sisters; 4 brothers; and 1 granddaughter.

        Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, February 15 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV. Interment will follow in the Yost Cemetery at Chloe, WV

        Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

 

Ault, Hilbert Lee Ault

 Hilbert Lee Ault, 77, of 228 South Main Street, Woodsfield, Ohio died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his home. He was born in Cameron, Ohio on April 6, 1932 a son of the late Stephen Douglas and Rahel Agnes Ady Ault.

Hilvert was a former owner of Ault Automotive, Barnesville, Ohio; was a member of the Bush Church of Christ, Malaga, Ohio; was a eteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy serving during he Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Jean Kibble Ault on July 22, 2004; four brothers: Floyd, Lester, Ralph and Stanley Ault; two sisters: Vera McConnell and Erma Jones.

Surviving are three daughters: Deborah (John) Jones of Woodsfield, Ohio, Denise (Stephen) Harris of Woodsfield, Ohio and Joyce Helmick of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers: Clyde (Martha Lee) Ault of Woodsfield, Ohio and Chester (Donna) Ault of Woodsfield, Ohio; one sister: Sylvia (Ralph) Jones of Woodsfield, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Private visitation and services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio with Dick Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Cameron Cemetery, Cameron, Ohio.

 

Baehler, Betty Baehler, nee Denney

        LAKE PARK, Minn. - Betty L. Baehler, 67, of Lake Park died January 20, 2009. Memorial services were Jan. 23 in Hawley.

        Betty Lou Denney was born to Walter and Edith (Elder) Denney on April 4, 1941, in Rose Hill, Iowa. Betty married Gilbert Baehler on July 25, 1964, in Davenport, Iowa. She was a 1959 graduate of Davenport High School. After that, she worked at Northwest Bank, Davenport, and later at Central Market, Detroit Lakes.

        Betty is survived by her husband, Gilbert Baehler, of Lake Park; two sons, Michael (Tammy) Baehler, of Moorhead, and Andrew Baehler, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Charles (Deanna) Denney and Kevin Denney, both of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Mary (Jack) Smith, of Minden, Iowa, and Sally Keel, of Davenport, Iowa; as well as two grandchildren.

Barber, Clifford E. Barber

        EMPIRE, Ohio - Clifford E. Barber, 73, of Empire, Ohio passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at the Trinity Medical Center - West, Steubenville.

        He was born June 11, 1936 in Reedsville, Ohio the son of the late Lester and Evelyn Miller Barber.

        Mr. Barber was retired from the former Kaul Clay Co., of Toronto.

       He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delorma Hall Barber, and his second wife, Barbara Lowther Barber.

        His survivors are two daughters, Rhonda Wells of Empire and Verna Brown of Yorkville, Ohio; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and step-mother, Lorain Barber of Empire.

        Friends and family will gather for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto.

        A celebration service of Clifford's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Ricky Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery - County Road 68 near Empire, Ohio.

 

Barker, Lola Mae Barker, nee Casler

        The graveside service for Lola Mae Casler Barker, 90, of Woodward, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward. The Rev. Junior Zollinger will officiate. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.

        She was born July 29, 1919, in May to George Henry and Euphemia Johnson Casler and died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at her home.

        She was raised and educated in May. She married Oral Everett Barker July 17, 1937, in May, where they lived before moving to Woodward in the 1940s. She worked for Tregos, Sonic Drive-In and was a cook at the school cafeteria.

        Surviving are one son, Jack Barker of Woodward; two daughters, Darlene Lanham of Vici and Ada Loucks of Woodward; one brother, George Casler of Woodward; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

        She was preceded in death by her husband, Oral, one son, two sisters, one brother, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

       Audrey D. Barrows, age 84 of New Matamoras, Ohio died Wednesday April 29, 2009 at Trinity East Medical Center Steubenville, Ohio. She was born in Castlewood, Virginia July 8th, 1924 a daughter of the late Joe and Sudie Litton.

       She was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church Fly, Ohio, and member of V.F.W. post 6387 Ladies Auxiliary.

       Preceded in death by her husband: Lee Barrows – Aug. 1998, 2 brothers: Gene and Lonnie Martin, 1 sister: Ann Gorby.

       She is survived by 1 daughter: Debbie (Bob) Rees – St. Clairsville, Ohio, 2 sons: James (Sharon) Barrows – Woodsfield, Ohio, Randy Barrows – New Matamoras, Ohio, 5 grandchildren: Trudy Willis, Tim Barrows, Dustin Barrows, Danae Barrows, and Melissa Link. 8 great grandchildren.

Bartenschlag, Ellis Burdette Bartenschlag

Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, July 21, 2009

Ellis Burdette Bartenschlag, age 85, of Lewisville, Ohio died July 21, 2009 at the Monroe County Care Center in Woodsfield. He was born August 18, 1923 in Wayne Township near Lewisville a son of the late Walter & Amelia Steed Bartenschlag.

Ellis graduated as Valedictorian of Lewisville High School class of 1941. He served in World War II from 1943 – 1946 in the Navy and Marine Corps as a medic in the South Pacific, including Okinawa and Guadalcanal. After leaving the service, he worked in the Oilfields and as a care giver for his parents until their death. He worked at Ormet Corp. from 1966 until he retired in 1983. Ellis was a member of the American Legion Post 87. Ellis enjoyed working on the farm which was established in 1856 by his great grandparents Fredrich and Christina when they immigrated to America from Germany.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; William and Clayton (Thelma) Bartenschlag, sister; Melba Bartenschlag and niece Debbie Haurez.

He is survived by 2 brothers; Bob (Pat) Bartenschlag of Berea, Kentucky; Jack (Jane) Bartenschlag of Columbus, Ohio; Sister-in-law Wilda Bartenschlag of Lewisville, Caregivers and their families for the last several years, nephew John (Kim) Bartenschlag of Parkersburg, West Virginia, niece Crystal (Pat) Willis of Pleasant City, Ohio, and nephew: Don (Aimee) Bartenschlag of Chandlersville, Ohio. Other nieces and nephews are Patty Secreto of Akron, Fran (Ron) Morris of Akron, Kathy Bartenschlag of Columbus, Cheryl (JR) Eshem of Marysville, Mark (Amy) Bartenschlag of Danville, Illinois, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Per Ellis’s request, his remains are to be cremated and there will be no viewing or services.

Bates, Danny Lee Bates

Chandler Funeral Home, Caldwell, Ohio, dated, February 26, 2009

Danny Lee Bates Sr., age 58, of East Union, OH passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his home. He was born March 11, 1950 in Sarahsville, OH a son of the Alwilda Irene Sorg Bates Ferguson and the late Ronald Wayne Bates.

Danny was a member of the Summerfield American Legion Post #415. He served and protected his country in the U.S. Navy Serving on a Submarine from 1968 to 1972 and in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976, having served in Germany. He was an employee of Spectra Energy for over 31 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, raising horses and tinkering with electronic and mechanical items of any sort.

He was preceded in death by his father.

In addition to his mother he is survived by three Sons Danny (Dana) Lee Bates Jr. of Colorado, Ronald Edward Bates (Sarah Browning) of East Union and Cory Evan Bates of Barnesville; one Daughter Crista Daneen Bates of Barnesville; 3 Grandsons Brandon Lee Bates, Cyler Alexander Bates and one to arrive soon. Loving Girlfriend Kay McDonald of Summerfield, OH; one Brother Wayne (Barb) Bates of Summerfield; four Sisters Beverly West of Dayton, Becky (Tim) Rine of Arkansas, Brenda (Jake) Wells of Caldwell and Betsy (Kevin) Williams of Summerfield. Also Survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and Co-Workers.

Friends will be received Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724.         KENSINGTON — Elsie Marie Baxter, 89, formerly of Kensington, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Blossom Nursing Home in Salem, Ohio. She was born March 10, 1920, in Salineville, Ohio, to the late William and Mary (Smith) Hunter.

        She is survived by three daughters, Janice Baxter of Lisbon, Mrs. Alfred (Donna) Kloos, also of Lisbon and Mrs. James (Barbara) Erb of Kensington; a brother, Charles (Jean) Hunter of North Carolina; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

        Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Baxter; an infant son, James; and a daughter, Bonnie (Baxter) Stokes.

        A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the First Christian Church of Kensington with the Rev. Lloyd Campbell officiating.         Evelyn Baxter, 82, of Shelbyville died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at her home.

        Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Leander and Nancy (Price) McGrew.

        Survivors include her sons, Phil (wife, Nancy) Baxter of Indianapolis, Alan Baxter and Kent (wife, Terry) Baxter, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Doris Winterrowd of Shelbyville and Louise Mullen of Fairland; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

        She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

        Mrs. Baxter was a lifelong Shelbyville resident.

        She had been a factory worker at KCL Corp. for 12 years, retiring in 1992. She previously was a clerk at the former Parks-Belk Department Store in Shelbyville for several years, retiring in 1980.

        Mrs. Baxter was a volunteer at Major Hospital for many years.

        She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1944.

        Mrs. Baxter was a member of West Street United Methodist Church.

        She loved to travel and spend time in Branson, Mo.

        Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

        Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Perry Richards and Carl Ewick officiating.

        Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

       USAF  TSgt. (Ret.) Walter C. Beaty, Sr., age 88 of Dayton, formerly a resident of Fairborn for 52 years, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009.  He was born September 18, 1921 in Clarington, Ohio, the son of the late Ira Clyde and Minnie (Cunningham) Beaty.  Walter served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and Korea in the Aleutian Islands, retiring in 1963 after 20 years of service.  He was then employed by Wright State University in the Physical Plant, retiring after 23 years.  A longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairborn, he volunteered in various capacities in earlier years; and he volunteered for the Park Hills High School Music Department when the high school first opened.

        In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Walter C. Beaty, Jr. in 1996; two brothers, Ralph and Rex Beaty; two sisters, Pauline Walton and Virginia Veyon.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn; a devoted daughter-in-law, Nancy Beaty of Fairborn; loving grandchildren, Erin (Mark) Teeples, Benjamin Beaty; a great-grandson, Matthew Teeples; sisters-in-law, Annabelle Callicoat, Linda (Paul) Boyer; brother-in-law, Douglas (Michele) Dietz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

        A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Rev. Edward L.         James was married to Bonnie (Riggins) Benear for several years. James worked as OTR at Firestone/Bridgestone for 20 yrs.

        James is survived by his mother Lilly* Hughes. His wife Bonnie Benear, one brother Jeffery Benear of Ohio, one sister Nancy Price of Ohio, two sons James Benear, Joey Johnson, and step-daughter Candy Benear.

Jean Delores (Rogalski) Bennett, 84, of Beallsville, Ohio went home with her Saviour early in the morning, March 21, 2009. She was surrounded by her family whom she deeply cherished.

She was an amazing story-teller who loved to laugh and had  a  wonderful sense of humor. She loved the ocean, her Lord, and her family, especially her grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than they did. 

Jean was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 8, 1924 and lived there until moving to Beallsville in 1957. She took great pleasure in raising and caring for her three children. Though we rejoice that she is with Jesus, she will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Donald, and her three children, Charles V. (Maxine) Rogalski of Beallsville, Stephen (Eva) Rogalski of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and Donna (Gene) Kanzigg of Strongsville; grandchildren Rene (Michael) Pozderac of Mt. Vernon, Michael (Becky) Rogalski of Westminster, MD, Brian Kanzigg of Concord, North Carolina, and Stephen Chase Rogalski of New Martinsville, West Virginia.

She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Alexander, Michael, Katie, and Grace Pozderac, and Lauren, Rachel, and Julia Rogalski, whom she adored.  Also surviving are her sister Normalee Trocik of Linthicum, Maryland and step-son, Tom (Sue) Bennett of  San Jose, California.

Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Rogalski and her mother, Katherine Richardson. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Jerusalem United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM with Pastor Jean Cooper officiating. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery.

        Zona Marie Bennett, 81, of Crestview Manor, Jane Lew, passed away at 7:32 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness.She was born September 23, 1927, in Hurst, a daughter of the late Homer Sprouse and Jane Lattea Sprouse.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell J. Stout; her second husband, William K. Bennett; and her youngest sister, Alice Rollyson.

        She is survived by five sons, Mackie, Mike and Gary Stout of Weston, Donnie Bennett of Wheeling, and Rodney Bennett of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Madalene Lamb of Weston; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was a 1947 graduate of Weston High School, Weston State Hospital retiree, homemaker and United Methodist by faith.Friends were received Tuesday, March 10, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston.

          Richard Adlai Berry, 78, passed away Thursday, Feb 19, 2009, at Brown Memorial Home in Circleville, OH, after a period of declining health. He was born in Meadville, PA, on Dec 25, 1930, to George Harold & Grace Elizabeth Rundell Berry.
He was a graduate of Erie Technical High School in Erie, PA, and served in the US Navy. His aviation career began with dirigibles in Akron, OH, and continued as a flight test engineer with Lockheed CA Company. He also worked again with the Navy on ASW aircraft. His hobbies were his vehicles, flying, boating, hunting, and doing anything mechanical.
          He is survived by his children, Anne Wade, of Circleville, OH, Alan (Wendie Wertz) Berry of Massillon, OH, and Gene (Carolee Rafn) Berry of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren Kate Wade (Jeremy) Addy of Burien, WA, John Wade of Columbus, OH, Allison Berry and Ashley Berry, both of Canal Fulton, OH, Melissa Berry of Charlottesville, VA, and Stephen Berry and Eric Berry, both of Roanoke, VA; great-grandson Preston Addy of Burien, WA; sisters Nancy (Anthony) Franczkowski of Elgin, PA, and Linda (Joseph) Filipowicz of New Iberia, LA; wives Lavona Dye Weber of Woodsfield, OH and Beverly Bristow Berry of Ventura, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1966, his father in 1967, and his brother Hugh in 1975. Private services will be held by the family at a later date.

He was born September 24, 1947 in Ft. Jackson, SC, the son of Phyllis Northcraft of Bens Run, WV, and the late, John Samuel Bettem.

He was a Vietnam Army Veteran; a former coal miner with Consol Coal; and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 39 years, Kathy Bettem; a son, John S, III (Kelly) Bettem of St. Clairsville, OH; a grandson, Nathan S. Bettem of St. Clairsville; two sisters, Vicky (Jim) Byers of Sardis, OH, and Raenell (David) Echard of Cairo, WV; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Batesville, Ohio; a member of the Guernsey Lodge #632, F.&A.M., Cambridge, Ohio; a member of the Valley of Cambridge; a member of the Shrine and a member of the Good Sam Camping Club Pioneer Sams #49.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louella Eileen Foraker Betts on May 22, 1982; a grandson, John Allen Betts.

Surviving are his loving wife, Judy Ball Kilburn Betts whom he married on July 12, 2005; two daughters: Jane (Craig) Zezeck of Morgantown, West Virginia and Joyce Ann Betts of Marietta, Ohio; two sons: John Raymond (Joyce L.) Betts of Freeport, Ohio and James A. Zelda M. Betts, age 95, of Lewisville, OH, died Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Monroe County Ohio July 22, 1913, a daughter of the late David H. and Clara Yoho Weber.

She was a graduate of Lewisville High School May 6, 1932. Zelda joined the Buchanan Presbyterian Church on July 17, 1932 and remained active in the church until 85 years of age. She had served as Clerk of Session for 18 years, Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school and Elder. She was the oldest living member of the Church. Her hobby was sewing since the age of 10. She quilted 99 quilts for friends and neighbors plus many for the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Wesley Betts (1990) whom she married Oct. 30, 1935. Four brothers Raymond, Floyd, Willard and Irvin. 2 sisters viola Winland and Laura Fisher. 1 Grandson, Danny Betts. 3 nieces Geraldine Winland, Doris Weber, and Ruth Weber. 1 nephew Neal Evan Weber.

She is survived by 5 sons; Darrel (Dianne) Betts of Newark, Russell (Mary) Betts of Lewisville, Delmas (Lucy) Betts of Lewisville, Ronald Betts of Lewisville, and Gary Betts of Woodsfield. 2 brother Lawrence and Earl Weber. 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

        Louetta O. Beuoy 96, Greenwood, passed away Friday evening, January 30, 2009. She was born August 27, 1912 in Nashville, IN to Robert and Oma (Taylor) Voland. She married J. Eugene Beuoy September 14, 1935. He preceded her in death April 3, 1997.

        Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Vincent; three sons, Jay (Judy) Beuoy, John (Jeanne) A. Beuoy and Bob (Shirley) Beuoy; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, and one great grandchild.

        LOUDONVILLE -- Glenn E. Bilger, 78, of Loudonville, died Thursday morning, Jan. 8, 2009, in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, after an extended illness.

        Glenn was born May 1, 1930, in Ashland County, the son of R.O. and Edith (Kyser) Bilger. He attended Ashland High School and Savannah High School and had been a resident of Loudonville since 1973, moving from Perrysville.

        Glenn retired in 1996 from the village of Loudonville, where he served 17 years as street superintendent. He had previously worked at Butts Plumbing and Heating and was manager of Perrysville Elevator. He loved fishing and hunting and was a former 4-H adviser. He was a 23-year member of Perrysville Fire Department and a former member of Loudonville and Perrysville Lions Clubs and the Ashland Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders.

        He is survived by his wife, Barb (Cummings) Bilger, whom he married Aug. 6, 1949; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Bev Bilger and Rickie and Darlene Bilger, all of Loudonville; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Rick Ziegler of Sunbury; nine grandchildren, KaSandra Bilger, Kristopher Bilger, Jacqueline Bilger, Robert (Rasheena) Bilger, Misty (Terry) Ward, Benjamin Joe (Tanya) Bilger, Lyndzi Ziegler, Scott Sutterlin, and Angie (Ryan) Van Dyke; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Jan) Bilger of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth Bilger, and a sister, Gloria Hupp.

He was born at Cambidge, Ohio on September 6, 1990 a son of Gregory and Carol Glasgow Bilyeu who survive of Lewisville, Ohio.

Steve was a 2008 graduate of Monroe Central High School and Swiss Hills Career Center near Woodsfielde, Ohio. He was a laborer for the Meadowbrook Tire and Muffler Company, Byesville, Ohio. He enjoyed his friends and also guitar playing.

          Edith Eva Bishop, age 99, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell.  She was born November 27, 1909, near Summerfield, Ohio, daughter of the late Ed and Rosa Stallings.  

          She was a graduate of the former Summerfield High School, and she was a homemaker, loving mother and a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell.  Edith was a member of the Dopey Dozens Quilting Bee in Monroe County.  She enjoyed reading and quilting.
          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Ward Bishop; one son, Dale Bishop; one daughter, Janice Bishop; three sisters, Grace Keylor, Oneda Starr and Lulu McDonald; and one brother, Irvin Stallings.
          Surviving are one son, David (Sharon) Bishop of Rifle, Colorado; one daughter, Kathy Chester of Caldwell; one sister-in-law, Betty Stallings of Caldwell; six grandchildren, Tammy (John) McCort, Tim (Mandy) Bishop, Krista (Bret) Parrish, Kara Chester, Brook (Kurt) Rich and Trent (Carresa) Bishop;  eight great-grandchildren, Ryan McCort, Brandi (Sam) Bailey, Paige Parrish, Andrew Parrish, Skylar Rich, Dakoda Rich, Brisa Bishop and Kolton Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.

        Lillian Katherine Bishop, 89, of Hartsville, Indiana died Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 6:40 p.m. at her daughter's residence.

        Mrs. Bishop was born and raised in Shelby County. She had lived on a farm south of Westport for 58 years before moving to Hartsville in 2007. She was a member of Letts United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and gardening.

        The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastors Tammy and Bill Leak officiating. Calling will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at Finley Cemetery.

        Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Bartholomew County through the funeral home.

        Mrs. Bishop was born October 6, 1919 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of Alvin and Alma McKee Pope. She married Wilford "Bud" Bishop June 24, 1939 in Greenfield, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2007.

        Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (David) Spangler of Hartsville, Indiana; two sons, Tom (Dottie) Bishop of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Terry (Emma) Bishop of North Vernon, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

        She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Becky Bishop; a son-in-law, Don Beck; and five brothers, Morris, Charles, Harold, Raymond and Walter Pope.

passed away Nov. 21st, 2009, at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Gene was born in North Canton, OH, and joined the Perry Township Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Detective. After moving to Florida, he joined the Port Richey Police Department on April 26, 1991. He attained the rank of Corporal in 1997, and was a long time Marine Patrol Officer with the department. He also loved recreational boating. Among other honors, he received the Medal of Valor and the Volunteer Service Award. He retired from the police department on Oct. 31, 2003. He is survived by his son, Matthew Blythe and daughter-in-law Jennifer Blythe; brother Richard Blythe, companion Vickie Lummer, and numerous nieices [sic–nieces] and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Ruby Blythe and brothers Merle Blythe and Donald Blythe. He was loved and will be missed. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Elmer Alonzo Boney

        Age 94, of Canton passed away in Aultman Hospital on Nov. 24, 2009. He was born on Dec. 23, 1914 in Noble County to the late Alonzo and Lavina Boney. Elmer retired from the Timken Company in 1981 after 30 years of service he also worked at Republic Steel for a short time. He was a long time active member of The Market Street Church of Christ for as long as his health permitted. Elmer enjoyed people, all people, young and old and loved interacting with them. His love for his family was his number one priority, especially his grandchildren which he enjoyed them being a part of his life and attending their special projects. Elmer never missed a family picnic or special party, and was always first out the door to eat at a good restaurant. He enjoyed his gardening work and kept a beautiful yard. Elmer loved long walks and conversation with everyone he met along the way. He had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.

        In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step mother, Maggie Boney; daughter, Katherine M. Hawk; son-in- law, Roger Hawk Sr.; five brothers, three sisters and two grandsons. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 75 years Carrie; four sons, Merle, Wayne, Walter and Jerry Boney; three daughters-in-laws, June, Birdie, and Cheryl Boney and one fiancé, Robin Hardesty; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren and one on the way.

        The family wishes to thank all the staff at Aultman Hospital especially those in Palliative Care that tended him with loving care until he went home with the Lord. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Minister Keith Kull officiating. Burial will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery.         Reicky Bosell lost his battle with cancer Nov. 12, 2009 at his home in Florida. He was born July 22, 1951 in Lafayette.

        He is survived by his children: Ryan Malloy, Joshua Bosell, Bryony Bosell, Autumn Bosell, Sierra Bosell and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry Schneider and Darrell Bosell; sisters, Norma Pope and Carla (Bosell) Rollison.

        He was preceded in death by his parents Carl (Bo) and Orma Bosell.

        Reicky graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in 1969 and Vincennes University.

        He served with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He was a Drug and Alcohol councilor in New Mexico.

        A memorial service was held at the Connection Pointe Church in Brownsburg, Ind., on Nov. 28, 2009.

        Sena was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of The Apostle and Prophet Ministry in Juniata (Pa.) where she taught Christian Education.

        She was also an Assistant Teacher in the public school system.

        Sena liked cooking and also baking for her Family and shopping with her Daughters.

        Sena was predeceased by her parents, four grandsons, a great grandson, and a great great granddaughter.

        Herman R. Bradham, 90, Henderson, entered into his Heavenly home at 5:40 p.m.Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Methodist Hospital.

        He started his day at Gene's Restaurant and ended his day at Eastgate Family Restaurant.  He transferred from an Illinois oil field in 1959.  He later retired from Eaton Axle in 1983 to care for his wife before she passed away.  He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran.

        He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene* Bradham, who died in 1988; three borthers, Thomas Bradham, Roofie Bradham and Kenneth Bradham; and two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Opal Hensel.

        Survivors include two sons, Mickey D. Bradham of Florida and Carrol Gene "Sonny" Bradham of Henderson; two daughters, Karen Wilson, his caregiver, and Rebecca Jo Cannon, both of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

        Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.  Brother Jeff Burke and J.D. Pemberton will officiate.  Entombment will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with full military rites performed by the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.

WINGETT RUN - John Brewer, 79, of Wingett Run, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 1, 2009) at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1930, in Kentucky, a son of John Brewer and Lula Adkins Brewer. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force, and was a 32nd degree Mason of Aurelius Lodge. He owned and operated his own welding shop.

John is survived by his children, Judy, John, Bruce, Jack and Skylar; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Erma.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers, George, Lonnie and Willie; three sisters, Gladys, Elizabeth and Mary; and his son, Mark.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Bethel Cemetery in Oak Hill. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

        NEW CASTLE -- Roy C. Brigham, 74, died peacefully Friday night, May 1, 2009 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

        Born in Jefferson, Ohio, on June 29, 1934, he was the son of Keston and Stella (Weber) Brigham.

        He attended schools in Woodsfield, Ohio, before joining the Marine Corps in 1953. He was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Base as a guard for the naval prison. He settled in Portsmouth and married his wife, Germaine, in 1955. In 1964, they built their home in New Castle.

        After graduating from NH Voc/Tech School as a Tool & Die Maker, he worked for Clarostat in Dover and later General Electric in Somersworth. He left GE to begin his own business, Brigham Tool & Die, in 1976, where he worked until his retirement in 2000.

        In retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren, dining out and traveling around New Hampshire.

        He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene B. and William Grand of Strafford and Terry B. and Gregg Smith of Strafford; granddaughters Courtney and Erika Grand of Strafford, Shayera Seavey of Northwood, Brittany Smith of Dover; grandsons Jeremy Seavey of Arlington, Va., and Kris Seavey of Northwood; and brother and sister-in-law, John and Sheila Brigham of Eliot, Maine.

        He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Germaine (Quirk) Brigham; and eight brothers and sisters.

        Calling hours are Thursday, May 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, NH. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on October 6, 1941 a son of the late Charles H. and Ethel Dunn Brown.

Les was a retired mechanic and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, New Martinsville, West Virginia. He was also a Protestant by faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Brown.

Clarence Edward “Ed” Brown, 65, of 39736 State Route 800, Woodsfield, Ohio died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at his home. He was born at Mechanicsburg, Ohio on October 19, 1943 a son of the late Clarence and Ina Randall Brown.

Ed was a retired employee of the Monroe County Department of Engineers; a member of the Unity Baptist Church near Antioch, Ohio; a member of the Antioch Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the Southeastern Horseman’s Association and a past member of the Circle M Riding Club. He enjoyed horseback riding, spending time with his grandchildren and extended grandchildren. He was known as “Pappy Ed” to many children besides his own grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-brother, Robert Harding.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Woodruff Brown whom he married on October 25, 1964; two sons: Mike (Amy) Brown of Antioch, Ohio and Jeff (Kathy) Brown of Graysville, Ohio; one brother: Denzil (Beverly) Brown of Antioch, Ohio; one half-sister: Zelda (Floyd) Cline of Antioch, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tucker, Tanner, Trevor and Macy Brown; several special nieces, nephews and friends.

        Dick was married for 62 years to his beloved Bessie Carolyn Schladen Brown. Their three children and spouses are: Cathy Saltsman (married to Floyd Saltsman) of Glenmoor Ohio, Susan Weaver (and companion Rhett Maze) of Chester, and Richard Brown (married to Patty Brown) of Pottstown, Pa.

        Dick graduated from Chester High School in 1944 and became a carpenter in the Carpenters Union No. 922. After retirement, he maintained his skills by driving around in his van, bearing the license plate, "Old Carp," and advising anyone who was in the midst of a remodeling project. His biggest passion in his retirement years however was carving. His carvings have been displayed numerous places in the Tri-State area. He enjoyed showing his creations and teaching others to carve. He was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association and The Friends Carving Club.

        He was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Chester, The Scottish Rite 32, Chester VFW Post 6450 and American Legion Post 121. Dick was recently honored with a "50 Year" gold pin from the Masonic Lodge. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and served aboard the USS Lanier (APA-125) in the Pacific Theatre.

        He is preceded in death by both parents and a brother Brooks Brown. His other siblings are Johnny Brown of San Miguel, Calif., Carol Brown Wern (and husband Don) of San Miguel, Jim Brown (and wife Janice) of Salinas, Calif., and Bob Brown (and wife Rosie) of Crossville, Tenn. Dick is also survived by his faithful companion, his Jack Russell Terrier, "Skippy."

        Dick was also known as "Pap" to four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Stacey Weaver Murphy (husband John), Scott Saltsman (wife Krista), Brandon Weaver and Jessica Brown. The great-grandchildren are Tea Weaver, Levi McPeek, Hunter Saltsman, Ryder Saltsman, Sloane Murphy, Layne Murphy, and John Weaver. His grandchildren were extremely devoted to him and like to boast that their Pap helped "rebuild the Big Teapot."

        Friends may call Sunday, April 19, 2009, during the hours of 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Pastor Larry Rose, of Northside Community Church, will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20. Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri-state Veterans Burial Group will accord military honors.

Eunice F. Brown, age 92, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday October 8, 2009 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born in Glencoe, Ohio October 19, 1916 a daughter of he late Everett James Ady, and Ida May Palmer Ady.

She was a member of the Woodsfild Church of Christ, and a retired Supervisor for the Former Kegerreis 5& 10 in Woodsfield.

Preceded in death by her husband: Chester W. Bown – Feb. 1, 1993, 3 sisters: Stella Pittman, Amanda Ault, & Bessie Pletcher. 3 brothers: Henry (Hak), James and Ralph Ady.

She is survived by 1 son: Paul Brown – Smyrna, Tennessee, 2 daughters: Willa (Lloyd) Goddard – Sardis, Ohio, Esther Wagnild – Woodsfield, 1 brother: Glenn Stephen Anthony Goddard, Valerie Anne Morris, and Stephanie Louise Lindenmayer.

Numerous great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Jerry was a former oil field worker and driller; enjoyed working on derby cars and stock cars and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan.

        Rick Brown, 65, of Arrow Drive, Marietta, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, while participating in the Detroit, Michigan Marathon/Half Marathon. He was born September 12, 1944 in Marietta to Hubert and Maude Leasure Brown. He was a retired pipefitter, having worked through Local #168 for 30 years. He was a member of the Gilman United Methodist Church. Rick was a member of the River City Runners and Walkers Club and enjoyed golfing. He was known as Coach Rick to many runners and walkers.

        He is survived by his wife, Vivian Cowdery Brown; his son, Steve Brown (Heather) of Sunbury; his daughter, Sarah Hess (Jason) of Marietta; five granddaughters, Allison, Taylor and Hannah Brown and Mackenzie and Ella Hess; two brothers, Buster Brown (Mary) and Don Brown (Susan) of Marietta; sister, Joan Thomas of Marietta; half sister, Dianne Minniefield (Johnny) of Cleveland and many nieces and nephews.

        He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Denny. Rick’s funeral service will be at the Gilman United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, with the Rev. Diann O’Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. His visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to his services at the church on Friday.

He was born near Stafford, Ohio, on 21 July 1946, son of the late Charles and Ethel Dunn Brown. He was a mechanic and equipment operator for B&N Coal Co., Dexter City, Ohio. He was a member of the Army Reserves and was a Methodist by faith. Terry enjoyed his grandchildren, family, and his dog, Coffee.

Surviving are his wife, Diane McElfresh Brown, whom he married on June 24, 1972; two sons, Terry G. (Amy) Brown II of Belle Valley, Ohio, and Joshua L. (Staci) Brown of Sarahsville, Ohio; three grandchildren and expected grandchild. He was born September 24, 1918, in Hendrysburg, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Brown and Sarah McMurray Brown.

Walter was a retired farmer and school bus driver, and he was also a private pilot for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Johnson Brown; a daughter, Rita Ruiz; a half-sister Elsie Goodman, and a step- brother Newel Moore.

Surviving are his daughters, Ina (Steven) Schwilling of Idaho, Fay (Leonard) D'embrosia of Oregon; a son, Charles (Mary) Brown of Connecticut; grandchildren, Corrie Albright, Kelly Matmati, Sarah Brown, Christopher and Michael D'embrosia, Roseangela Scrivner, and Charles Fliger; great- grandchildren, Asher and Ainsley Albright and Laila Matmati; a sister, Kathleen Allen of Dayton, Ohio; and a half-sister, Ruth Moreland of Orange Park, Fla.

Janice Brown-Boehm, age 69, passed away September 7, 2009 in Portland, OR She was born on October 4, 1939 in Pendleton, OR to Irwin and Blanche Drake. They moved to Washougal, WA in 1940 and Janice would graduate from Washougal High School.

She married Ed Allen, Jr. and would later get divorced.

Janice worked at the Camas/Washougal Post Record and married Lynn Brown in 1970. Together they owned Brown's Chevron in Camas, WA and in 1986, Lynn passed away. Janice continued to operate the gas station and in 1993 she was named Business Person of the Year. That same year she married Alvin Boehm. Janice and Alvin remodeled a few buildings in Camas including the Dairy Queen and Sprouse Reitz. In 1998 she sold the gas station and retired. She and Alvin spent their time between their home in Vancouver, WA and their home in Chinook, WA.

Janice loved to travel. She also loved the beach and entertaining at their home there.

She was also an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas.

Janice is survived by her husband, Alvin, at home; children, Ed Allen, III of Portland, OR, Bonnie Allen of Washougal; step- children, Laura Kohler of Longview, WA, Ruth Ladage of Washougal, Russell Boehm of Washougal, Christine Youngren of Cook, WA, Sandra Boehm of Washougal; brothers, Bob Drake of Vancouver, Mark Schell of Libby, MT; sister, Lean Barlow of Camas; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Janice's life will be held Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11:00 am. at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Inurnment will be private at the Camas Cemetery.

Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.

        Mr. Alvin L. Browning, 80, La Porte, died at 4:58 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 22, 2009) at University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago.

        Mr. Browning was born May 27, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Browning.

        On Oct. 19, 1947, in Linton, Ind., he married Eva M. Miller, who preceded him on March 27, 1988.

        He had worked at Allis-Chalmers as a welder and he was also a union painter and owned Browning Excavating. He was a La Porte Lake Patrol member and former captain, La Porte County Sheriff's Department reserve member, and a member of Local 1118 Union Painters and Decorators of South Bend.

        He leaves behind two sons, Don and Paul Browning, both of La Porte; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

        He is preceded by his parents, wife and one granddaughter.

        A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Essing Funeral Home with Capt. George Gibbons officiating.

        Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Monday at Essling Funeral Home.

        Arrangements are being handled by Essling Funeral Home.

Jeanne Poulton Buckio, age 84, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Monroe County Care Center. She was born September 14, 1925 in Woodsfield, Ohio, daughter of James Garfield (Gar) Poulton and Edna Larinda Hubbard Poulton. Jeanne was educated in Woodsfield where she met and later married her long time love, Frank L. Buckio, Jr. They spent 54 years exploring all that life had to offer. As a fighter pilot's wife, she became a strong, independent woman, raising her three children on multiple military bases all over the world during two wars. She was a member of the Woodsfield First United Methodist Church.

Jeanne spent many years working in the retail industry including, interior decorating, boutique shops, owner of the Sears Roebuck catalog store, and Der Kinder Haus, a children's clothing store. She enjoyed traveling the world, meeting new people, and establishing new homes for her family. Her talent in decorating, design, and furniture were exhibited in all of her homes, Her joy in life was the role of an Air Force wife, mother and grandmother.

Jeanne is survived by three children, Jeffrey Charles Buckio and his wife, Melodi, Reno, NV; Jennifer Buckio Henthorn and her husband, Mark, Woodsfield, OH; Joellen Buckio and her husband, Charles Ephland, Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shane Garfield (Carla) Kuntz, Cambridge, OH; Shannon Kuntz (Bill) Winland, Antioch, OH; Arianne Buckio (Mitch) Clouse, Dublin, 01-1; Courtney Buckio (Brian) Cherry, Chesterfield, VA and two great grandchildren, John Andrew Clouse, Dublin, OH and Carlee Katlin Kuntz, Cambridge, OH. Other survivors include three nieces, three nephews, and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lt Col. Frank Leroy Buckio Jr, brother, Lt. Col. Kenneth V. Poulton and one niece. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11 am. at First United Methodist Church, 136 N. Main Street, Woodsfield. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.         He was born Oct. 15, 1957, son of Sam Bundy of Byesville and the late Mary J. (Czech) Bundy.

        Mr. Bundy enjoyed playing cards, sports, NASCAR and hunting.

        He was an oil field worker for the past 20 years.

        In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

        He is also survived by one son, Dale R. Bundy II of the home; one daughter, Teaira (Eric) Brown of Florida; a stepdaughter, Cassandra J. He was born at Bellaire, Ohio on May 5, 1964 a son of Luther and Frances "Frannie" Urbanek Burke who survive of Woodsfield, Ohio.

Gerald was currently the Oaklawn Cemetery Sexton for the Village of Woodsfield, Ohio; owner/operator of Burke's Towing, Woodsfield, Ohio; a Lieutenant and member of the Woodsfield Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the Towing and Recovery Association of Ohio; a member of the Harley Owner's Group; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Woodsfield, Ohio; a member of the Monroe Central Sideliners and a member of the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club (Firemen on Harleys).

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Barbara Greenwald Burke whom he married on October 5, 1991; one son: Zachary Burke of the home; one daughter: Katlynn Burke of the home; one sister: Charlotte Burke of Lewisville, Ohio; his two dogs: Benji and Bella; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Together Again

Melvin "Butch" L. Burkey, 79, of North Benton, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

Melvin was born on Dec. I2,* 1929, in Deerfield, the son of the late Glenn and Edith M. (James) Burkey. Butch was a member of North Benton Presbyterian Church, where he served on and was involved in many committees and activities. He was also a trustee of the church. Butch was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kuntzman Trucking in 1984 and was a member of the Teamsters Local 92.

Melvin is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Ruffier, and two grandchildren, Josh and Jon, all of Sebring. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Hartzell of Berlin Center and Caroline Haupt of Sebring.

Besides his parents Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Ann E. (Manypenny), whom he married on June 14, 1953, and who died on Dec. 31, 2001; an infant daughter, Ann; and his brother, Benard James Burkey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, at North Benton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Sawyer officiating. Friends may call the half hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fairmount Memorial Park

Stewart was a retired Architect and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the Korean War, member of the First United Methodist Church of Woodsfield, adult Sunday School teacher, member of Gideon's International, President of the Monroe County Area for Aging for AARP, and a member of the American Legion Post #87.

He is survived by his adopted grandchildren: Dr. Keneth & Karena Cooper - Woodsfield.

Larry was a retired aluminum worker for the Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Burkhart and one sister, Mary Ann Burkhart.

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Goldie Marie Bumess, 94. of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away at HealthPark Medical Center on Sunday (July 5, 2009) as a result of cardiac arrest.

She was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Monroe County, Lebanon, Ohio, the daughter of Homer Newhart and Lula Pabst Newhart.

On Oct. 11, 1941, she married William A. Bumess, who preceded her in death in 1987.

She attended Ohio University and taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Ohio. Goldie was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars. She attended Southside Christian Church in Fort Myers, Fla.

Goldie is survived by three daughters, Mary Ellen (Gerald) Harvey of Fort Myers, Fla., Billie Jo Meldrum of Radcliff, Ky., and Jean A. Bumess of Calabash, N.C.: four grandchildren, Elizabeth Harvey Godwin, Margaret Harvey Briscoe, Michele Meldrum Redmond and Paul Meldrum; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Redmond, Katherine Godwin, Sarah Godwin and Audrey Godwin; and her sister, Ruth E. English of Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born at Fredericksdale, Ohio on December 1, 1930 a son of the late Herlan and Daisy Carter Butler. Delbert was a retired maintenance worker for General Electric, New Concord, Ohio; a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ, Caldwell, Ohio; a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a lifetime member of the Caldwell V.F.W. Post 4721, Caldwell, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria McNeal Butler on June 11, 1996; a son, Timmy Butler; one sister, Anna Mae Connell and one brother, Wayne Butler.

Paul William Byers, Sr. 77, of Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Trail Run) passed away at 3:20 A.M. at Marietta Memorial Hospital on Saturday May 16, 2009 after a battle with extensive cancer. His family was by his side for the last two days before his passing, celebrating his life and comforting him in his last hours.

He was born on September 24, 1931 in Trail Run, Ohio, the youngest child of George and Mary Kathryn Merckle Byers. Paul attended Brownsville Grade School and graduated from Antioch High School. Paul married Vera Imogene Cox on February 17, 1951 at the Woodsfield Church of Christ. He was a member and elder at the Brownsville Church of Christ. He also served as president of the Fly Elementary and Midway Elementary Parent Teacher League for many years. He formerly owned and operated both, the Gulf and Amoco service stations, as well as Byers' Variety and

Hardware Store in New Matamoras, Ohio. He was also a bus driver for Switzerland of Ohio Schools for 32 years.

After moving to Woodsfield, Paul served on the Oaklawn Cemetery Board, volunteering tirelessly to upgrade the mausoleum and brought improvements to the cemetery by paving the driveways and improving maintenance practices. He also served on the Woodsfield Village Board of Public Affairs and Woodsfield City Council until his death. A fanner for over 65 years, Paul kept his green thumb active even in retirement by cultivating vibrant flowerbeds and vegetable gardens around his house.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Vera; four children - Rita (Coy) Rosenlieb of Trail Run, Paul (Paula) Byers of Trail Run, Tom (Ruth) Byers of Wheeling, and Paula (Jay) Ruble of Kentucky; six grandchildren - Troy (Christina) Rosenlieb of Marietta, Mindy Rosenlieb and her fiance Mark Panepinto of Wheeling, Tim (Valerie) Byers of Texas, Chad Byers of Trail Run, Austin Byers of Wheeling and Nathan Ruble of Kentucky; and one great-grandchild- Ava Rosenlieb. He is also survived by siblings Mae Yoss of California, George Wilfred Byers of Texas, and Dave Byers of Georgia

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Kathryn (Merckle) Byers; one grandchild- Zachary Ruble; and eight siblings - Georgia Lohr, Ralph Byers, Bessie (Cline) Edington, Roy Byers, Mildred Allen, Carl Byers, Art Byers, and Edna Cochran.

Funeral Services were held at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home on Monday, May 18 in Woodsfield, Ohio, with graveside services held at Oaklawn Cemetery immediately following.

        David "Shawn" Cagey, 53, passed away March 1, 2009.

        He was born June 21, 1955 in Akron to Norman and Beulah Cagey. He had worked as a recruiter for Sanford Rose and enjoyed playing music with bands.


        Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Norman C. Cagey. He is survived by his son, Gareth Cagey; mother, Beulah Barker; brothers, Terry (Pamela) Cagey and Nicholas Cagey; sisters, Melody (Dave) Tanner, Laurie (Nick) Whited, and Pamela (Steve) Boggs; very special friend, Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews.

        A gathering of family and friends will be held for Shawn at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service following at 6 p.m.

CARMAN, Shirley, 72, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, in the East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.She was born May 11, 1936 in Bellaire, a daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn Tice Rejonis.

Shirley was a former nurse's aide at the Peterson Hospital in Wheeling and a Methodist by faith. She graduated from Bellaire High School, class of 1954.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carman on May 17, 1987.

Surviving are three children, Randy Wheeler of Bellaire, Rick (Dee) Carman of Sardis and Stacey Yoka (Jim Twarog) of Shadyside; two brothers, Frank Rejonis of Shadyside and Fred Rejonis of Powhatan Point; and one sister, Doris Goff of Shadyside; four grandchildren, Alexis Yoka and Lindsay Yoka, Gunnar Carman and Brooke Carman.

Ralph E. Carpenter, age 88, of Adrian, formerly of Irving, Texas, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Provincial House.

He was born May 1, 1920, in Wooster, Ohio, to Marshall and Delphia (Ross) Carpenter. Ralph married Virginia Gray on August 13, 1940, in Ashland County, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2004.* He was a farmer in Ashland County, Ohio, and a school bus driver for Nova and Nankin Schools. Ralph and Virginia then moved to Nankin, Ohio, and operated Carpenter's IGA Grocery. Ralph was a member of the Nazarene Church in Irving, Texas, and he directed the choir. He owned his own auto repair business in the Irving, Texas, area for many years. He enjoyed sailing his sailboat, was a lover of music and played the guitar.

Ralph is survived by one son, David (Arlene) Carpenter of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Joyce Parades of West Yellowstone, Mont., and Patricia Loveday (Dan Bowles) of Jasper, Mich.; two brothers, Lloyd (Mildred) Carpenter of Sullivan, Ohio, and Edwin (Mary) Carpenter of Wabash, hid.; one sister, Irene (Bob) Schwan ofleromesville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Scott Carpenter, Leyah (Abed) Ghezzi, Angie Kocsis, Valerie (Dan) Rutz, Jan Jones, Arlen Wood, Doug (Kristen) Gomey, Darren Gomey, Danny (Annette) Gomey, Dusty Gorney, Troy (Deborah) Loveday, Bryan Loveday, and Tonya (Dave) Ward; and numerous much-loved great-grandchildren. Matthew Allan Christman, age 36 of Woodsfield, Ohio died Wednesday February 18, 2009. He was born in Barnesville, Ohio March 18, 1972 a son of Charles and Rosalie Thomas Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio.

Matthew graduated in 1993 from Woodsfield High School and Swiss Hills Vocational School in Auto Mechanics. He was an employee of Christman Supply of Woodsfield and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Woodsfield. Matthew loved his dog, and friend Chocolate. Preceded in death by his grandparents: Roy and Dorothy Christman, and Wilbur and Mildred Thomas.

He is survived by his parents: Charles and Rosalie Thomas Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio, 1 sister: Melissa Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio, Niece and Nephews: Taylor, Christian, and Colt Wilson. Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Richard Ray Christman, a former Data Warehouse team manager, enjoyed watching the changing seasons in Missouri.

"The first snowfall every year was a 'wow' factor for him," said his wife, Jill Christman.

Mr. Christman died at his home on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. He was 62.

He was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Upland, Calif, to Lloyd and Ardis Geer Christman. He married Jill in 1995 in Laguna Beach, Calif. They moved to Missouri in 2003.

His wife described him as a kind and gentle man, a "big ol' teddy bear."

Jill first met her husband 25 years ago, when they both worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Southern California. They have been married for 14 years.

Mr. Christman had one child, Jay Christman, 12, who his wife said was "the light of his la" Her favorite memory of her husband was "seeing the look in his eyes the day his son was born. He was a miracle."

Although he was not into sports, Jill Christman said her husband loved to watch their son play soccer and basketball.

"His personal passion was children," she said. "He supported St. Jude's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network."

He was a member of the Ashland Christian Church, the Ashland Optimist Club and the Project Management Institute.

Survivors include his wife; his son; his mother, of Lake Forest, Calif.; and one brother, Robert Lloyd Christman.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 27 at the Ashland Christian Church, 14775 S. Highway DD. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Richard Ray Christman, 62, of Ashland passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Ashland Christian Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Mr. Christman was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Upland, Calif , the son of Lloyd and Ardis Geer Christman. He married Jill Christman in December of 1995 in Laguna Beach, Calif. He worked for the University of Missouri as manager of the data warehouse team. He was a member of Ashland Christian Church, Ashland Optimist Club and the Project Management Institute.

Survivors include his mother, Ardis Christman of Lake Forest, Calif.; his wife, Jill Christman and son Jay Christman of Ashland; one brother, Robert Lloyd Christman and wife Meredith; one nephew, Evan Lloyd Christman; a special friend, brother Richard Greek and his wife, Christine, and their son, Kristopher Lloyd.

         DENNISON -- Pamela A. Christman-Nayman, 41, of Bowerston, died unexpectedly on Sunday (April 19, 2009).

        A former resident of Guernsey County, she had worked at the Noble Correctional Institute and the Guernsey County Home, in addition to being an EMT in Quaker City.

        She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Nayman; her parents, the Rev. John and Mrs. Gladys Johnson; her paternal grandmother, Jeanette Gossett of Cambridge; her son, Adam (Veronica) Christman of Quaker City; a sister, Faith (Jim) Dodd of Cambridge; brothers, John and Dale Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

        Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Dennison, O.R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., (740) 922-1970; www. lindseyfh. com.

Eldon Christy, 72, of 34072 Hartshorn. Ridge Road, Graysville, Ohio died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, West Virginia.

He was born near Graysville, Ohio on November 5, 1936 a son of the late Clarence and Edna Smith Christy.

He was a retired carbon setter at Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the Church of Christ, a member of Stafford Lodge #300, Stafford, Ohio; Osiris Shrine, Wheeling, West Virginia; Loyal Order of Moose, Woodsfield, Ohio; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Woodsfield, Ohio; Monroe County Shrine Club; Monroe County Sportsman Association and the Tyler County Shrine Club.

Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Schmidt Christy whom he married on February 23, 1957; three daughters: Terry (Phil) Wells of Lewisville, Ohio, Lisa (Danny) Vesper of Ashland, Ohio and Tracy (Bob) Blackstone of Lewisville, Ohio; two sisters: Erma Dye of Akron, Ohio and Cynthia Reger of Lancaster, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Christy and one sister, Dorothy Harmon.

Friends will be received at the Waiters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 3-9 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

Scott A. Christy, 42, of 6512 Highlands Court, Delaware, OH (formerly of Graysville, OH) died Dec. 19, 2009 at the James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born at Marietta, Ohio on March 8, 1967 a son of Frances Schmidt Christy Hixson and step-father Don Hixson who survive of Woodsfield, Ohio and the late James E. Christy.

Scott was a 1985 graduate of Skyvue High School near Graysville, Ohio and a graduate of the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio with a degree in civil engineering. He was a civil engineer employed by Continental Building Systems, Columbus, Ohio; a member of the Stafford Lodge #300 F.&A.M., Stafford, Ohio.

Surviving in addition to his mother and step-father are his wife Cathy Wilson Christy whom he married on October 9, 1999; two daughters: Michaela Christy and Faith Christy both of the home; one son: Morgan Christy of the home; two brothers: Greg (Carol) Christy of Lewisville, Ohio and Vaughn (Pam) Christy of Woodsfield, Ohio; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Richard and Eleanor Wilson of Jerusalem, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mitchell Christy.

        Born on January 22, 1941, passed away on September 14, 2009 at the age of 68 under the loving care of his family, Fran's Lean On Me AFC Home and Heartland Hospice.

        Survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Wynona Clark; sons, North (Jeanine) Clark, David (Susan) Clark, Doyle "Dutch" (Lori) Clark; daughter, Wesley Keller; stepsons, Randy (Julie) Stull, Rodney (Laura) Stull; grandchildren, Michael (Monique) Scott, Cody, Cameron, Caitlyn and Carson Clark, Andrew Clark, Shalene Clark, John Keller; step grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Stull, Kellie (Joel) Rangel, Grace Stull, Tyler and Luke Bradley; great-grandchildren, James Clark, River Scott, Olivia Stull, Marina Rangel; brother, Gordon "Scoop" (Jill) Clark; special Aunt Doris, many cousins and friends, and special dog, Tonka, and "the cats". Preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Edna (Ellingson) Clark; brother, David Clark and faithful dog "Jake", who was the best worker, companion and helper he ever had.

        He worked in construction and roofing, and worked on the World Trade Center Towers. He was a Merchant Marine on the SS..NYU Victory Ship and was also a pet groomer and entrepreneur. He loved animals, building, and antique cars. He enjoyed driving his cars with wife Nonie and the dogs and stopping for a picnic. John also enjoyed riding his antique tractor. He was very proud of his children and loved them dearly.

        Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Roseland Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with minister Brian Hendricks officiating. A brunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Gene Davis Banquet Hall, 3575 Francis St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Quiet Place Ministries, 334 Bradley Drive, Jackson, MI 49201.         Lillian A. Clark, age 89, of 147 Lariat Drive, Kearneysville, WV, (formerly of the Broad Oaks section of Clarksburg) went to be with the Lord at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at her daughter’s residence.

        She was born in Pickens, WV, on December 8, 1920, a daughter of the late Louis Haslebacher and Rose Betler Haslebacher.

        Her husband, Denzel Clay Clark, whom she married September 28, 1941, preceded her in death January 9, 1987.

        Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Denzel Clay “Denny” Clark, Jr. and wife, Laraine, of Mannington, WV and Suds Run Community; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. Elnora Rose Ganoe, Clarksburg, WV, Mrs. Sandra Kay Hoffman, Brigantine, NJ, and Mrs. Donna Joy Grooms, and husband, Stanley, Martinsburg, WV; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Joyce Haslebacher, Clarksburg, WV; a sister, Frieda Grace Logsdon, Keyser, WV; ten grandchildren, Deborah Springston, Michael Ganoe, Stephanie Bordeleau and husband, Peter, Shawn Ganoe and wife, Lela-Jo, Robert Hoffman and wife, Deborah, Michael Hoffman and wife, Michele, Lisa Hoffman, Aaron Grooms, Clay Clark and wife, Sherri and April Santee, and husband, Vernon; a step-granddaughter, Dawn Shoop and husband, John; 17 great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Starcher, KY, and Norma Jean Clark, Elkins, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

        Mrs. Clark was a member of the Broad Oaks United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she was very active in the activities of the church. She was a graduate of Pickens High School and WV Business College. She was a 4-H leader for many years and was honored as a 4-H All Star. She was also active in the WV Homemakers Clubs. She had been employed at Helms Express from 1959 until 1983 as a secretary, office manager and retired as dispatcher.

        Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at the Broad Oaks United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, where she will lie in state from noon until the service time. Elder Janis Wright will preside.

        Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Clegg, Ada Ruth, age 83, of Russell Avenue, New Martinsville, WV, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. She was born August 29, 1925 in Monroe County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas Allen and Ethel Ester Webber Litman. She was a member of the Bridge Street Church of Christ in New Martinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John H. and Ronald Litman; three half brothers and two half sisters. Survivors include her husband, Earl F. Clegg; two brothers, Allen J. (Elda) Litman of New Martinsville and Kenneth Litman of New Matamoras,

Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Edra Litman of Canton, Ohio and Betty Litman of Hannibal, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday at 11:00am at Northview Cemetery, 219 N. State Route 2, New Martinsville, with

Evangelist Donald Kline officiating.

 

Clemson, Shirley Ann Clemson, nee White

        Shirley Ann (White) Clemson, age 73, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Dec. 8, 2009, at her residence in Jefferson.

        She was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Frederick O. and Esther J. (Lintela) White and had lived in this area much of her life.

        She was a 1954 graduate of Austinburg High School.

        Shirley was a stenographer with Edward P. McHugh & Associates, a worker's compensation service company in Cleveland. She returned to Eagleville in 1960, and was later employed as a secretary at the Ashtabula Plant of the former Diamond Alkali Corp. (Occidental Chemical Corp.). She held various clerical positions, retiring in 2001 as office administrator.

        Shirley attended Eagleville Bible Church and enjoyed painting, gardening, golfing, traveling and activities with her family and friends.

        She is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Denise) Clemson of Rock Creek, Timothy (Andrea) Clemson of Geneva, Jennifer (Stephen) Fularz of Painesville and Kelly (William) Brainard of Sedona, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Heather (Rich) Crum, Aimee (Jim) Rich, Joshua and Brandon Clemson, Tyler Fularz and Tessa and Trace Brainard; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Graydon Crum, Kenny Vanyo, Caidem Rich and Cassidy Rich; mother-in-law, Georgia Clemson of Rock Creek; brother-in-law, Thomas Richcreek of Melbourne, Fla.; nephew, Christopher (Susan) Richcreek of Orlando, Fla.; and two great-nephews, William and Thomas J.

        She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Richcreek; and nephew, Thomas Richcreek.

        Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Eagleville Bible Church, 1981 State Route 45, Rock Creek. Pastor Bill McMinn will be officiating. Burial will follow in Eagleville Cemetery.

CLEVENGER, Mary Rose, 66, of Bethesda Ohio, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at her home.

She was born July 11, 1943, a daughter of the late Rudolph Koci and Rose Agnes Kubic Koci.

Mary Rose was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville, Ohio. She was retired from K-Mart.

Mary Rose never gave up her battle with cancer, and she loved her grandbabies and her special niece, Katie with all her heart; she was a selfless, compassionate and deeply faithful Catholic.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Clevenger.

Surviving are daughters, Kris (Jason) Suter of Barnesville and Theresa Clevenger of Jerusalem, Ohio; a son, Jay Clevenger of Bethesda; grandchildren Lacey, Leanna and Jacctlyne; sisters, Bernadine Ellis of Bridgeport, Ruth Murray of Weirton and Emilie Freeman of Blaine, Ohio. Blanche I. Cline, of Uniontown, Ohio passed away July 14, 2009, after a short illness.

She was born July 28, 1913 in Rinard Mills, Ohio to George and Victoria Weckbacher.

She lived most of her life in Low Gap, Ohio before moving to Akron in 1996. She was a member of the Low Gap Christian Union Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking and making special treats for them.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Homer Paul Cline in 1993, to whom she was married for sixty-one years. Siblings: Freda Kendall, Opal Reel, Mary Mikes, and Paul Weckbacher. Nephew: Jimmy Kendall.

She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Barbara Flinn of Ravenswood, West Virginia, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Catherine Cline of Akron, Ohio. Brother, Carl Weckbacher of Beach City, Ohio, Sisters June (Chauncey) Mobberly of New Matamoras, Ohio and Wilma Smith of Marietta, Ohio. Grandchildren: Cheryl (John) Apazeller, David (Diane) Cline of Akron, Michael (Linda) Cline of Douglassville, Pennsylvania. Step-Grandchildren: Doug Flinn of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Debbie (Greg) Cooper of Ravenswood, West Virginia. Donald was a former coal miner for the former Y&O Coal Company, Beallsville, Ohio and was also a welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Virginia Bums Cline whom he married on July 15, 1978; one daughter: Angela (Anthony) Bettinger of Caldwell, Ohio; two sons: James R. (Nancy) Cline of Ashland, Ohio and Donald J. ALBANY — Wiley Colburn, 95, of Albany, passed away on Sept. 3, 2009, at Hickory Creek of Athens. His death was due to natural causes. He was born Feb, 27, 1914, in Athens County, the son of the late Clyde and Amanda Staneart Colburn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was in Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941.

He was a member of the Alexander Presbyterian Church and Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and Masonic Temple.

Wiley is survived by sons Loyd (Jackie) Colburn of Celina, David (Cheryl) Colburn of Cicero, Ind., and a daughter, Karen (Rick) Gerver of Mishawaka, Ind.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers Wilbur and Carl of Lancaster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Thomas Colburn, in March 1996 and sisters Lucille and Mabel.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893, Athens VFW Post 3477 and KT Crossen Post 21 American Legion.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

 

Coleman, Helen I. Coleman, nee Harrison

        COLEMAN, Helen I. Harrison, 88, of Wheeling WV, having just held the hand of her daughter and being kissed by her grandson, died peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital. Born in Wheeling WV on June 29, 1920, Helen was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Hazel Elizabeth Hermann Harrison. She was a member of the former Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on Wheeling Island and a current member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Helen was the Past President of the Island Mothers Club, Past President of the Island Garden Club, Past President of the American Legion Auxillary Post # 1, former member of the Blessed Trinity Womens Guild and was the former Secretary of the Island Community Association. She was the retired Advertising Copywriter for the former WHLL Radio and WKWK Radio of Wheeling. Among Helen’s joys in life were her family, reading, her love for travel, writing poetry and short stories, dancing with the Wheeling Reelers Square Dance Club and working crossword puzzles always using an ink pen.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles G. Coleman in 2005; her daughter, Linda Reed in 2000, her son in law, Jim O. Smith in 1987, and son in law, Irvin Jennings Jr. in 1980.

        BURLINGTON - Mr. Neil Edward Coleman, 71, of 3109 Commerce Place, Burlington died suddenly at his residence on Saturday, November 14, 2009.

        A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the husband of the late Dorothy D. Coleman and the son of William J. Coleman and Caroline D. Coleman, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired salesman. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the American Legion.

        Survivors include a daughter, Caroline M. Tuck of Zebulon; three sons, Shawn P. Coleman of Raleigh, Michael N. Coleman of Jamestown and Mark D. Coleman of Asheboro; six grandchildren, Karen M. Brittain, Colleen E. Brittain, Hailey G. Tuck, Connor M. Coleman, Annalise D. Coleman and Emily F. Coleman; and two brothers, William Coleman of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gary Coleman of Louisville, Ky.

        The funeral service will be conducted at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

        CONLEY, Kenny D. 58, of Springfield lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 07, 2009 in his residence. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on August 17, 1950, the son of Winfield and Mildred (Perkins) Conley.

        Kenny had been a machinist with Carmichael Machine Corp. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, working on computers, building and enjoying his hot rod cars.

        Kenny was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, nephew Richard Conley, and cousins Tim & Raymond Cantrell. His survivors include his mother Mildred Conley of Springfield, daughter Denise (Jason) Reed of South Vienna, son Dustan (Becky) Conley, brother Monte (Mary) Conley both of Springfield, the mother of his children and lifelong friend Teiga Burden of South Vienna, grandchildren Kyle, Cody, Kayla, Cady, Dustan, Caleb, Cidney, Kayla, Austan, Haley, Deanna, Chase, and Michael, niece Christina Conley, nephew Jason Conley, many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

        BRIDGEPORT — Glenda Sue “Susan” Conlon, 67, Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2009.

        She was born April 7, 1941, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Bessie Belle Snyder Lattea.

        She was preceded in death by her second husband, Thomas J. Conlon, and is survived by her first husband, Lynn Moneypenny, Camden, WV.

        She is survived by two daughters, Molly Sue Patterson and her husband Kevin, Buckhannon, and Shari Lynn Corathers and her husband David, Cranberry Township, PA; a stepson, Patrick J. Conlon and his wife Debbie, Twinsburg, OH; four grandchildren, Christopher Patterson and his fiancee Caitlin Orsburn, Dustin Corathers, Casey Patterson and Paige Corathers. Two sisters, Irene Cherney, McKinleyville, CA, Betty George, Fairmont; a brother, Bill Lattea, Charleston; and several nieces and nephews complete her family.

        In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Spicer, Kathryn Carrig and June Perry; and three brothers, George Lattea, Lee Lattea and a brother who died in infancy.

        Susan was an Office Manager with Mason Family Chiropractic for the past eight years. She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Stephanie Renae Copeland, 20, of Billings, died June 23, 2009, at the Billings Clinic, of cystic fibrosis.

She was born in Havre, April 28, 1989. Stephanie was raised in Harlem and Havre; Mt. Vernon, Wash.; Shelby, Shepherd and Billings. She graduated from Shepherd High School in 2007.

She was preceded in death by grandfather Jack Richman, grandmother Delores Sohm, uncles Danny Joe Richman, Richard Richman, Jay Yarn and cousin Michael Richman. Stephanie is survived by her mother and father, Linda and Terry Haberman; brothers Allen and Zachary Haberman; special aunt Susan Richman, all of Billings; sisters Jennifer Haberman and Tera Ronish of Tacoma, Wash.; grandparents Beverly Richman of Harlem, Donna and Lee Haberman of Phoenix, and Margaret Yarn of Shelby. Stephanie is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins

Stephanie touched many lives, was greatly loved and will be forever missed.

Viewing will be Monday, June 29, 5 to 9 p.m., at Smith's Downtown Funeral Chapel, 925 S. 27th St., Billings. Funeral will be 11 am.         He was born July 4, 1931 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Pete and Sara Coss.

        Jim was a retired owner operator truck driver.

        After retirement he enjoyed his farm and caring for his cattle.

        He was a member of the Grandview Christian Church of Powhatan Point, Ohio.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Coss; a son, James R. Coss; a stepson, Timothy Inherst and a granddaughter, Betty Robertson.

        Surviving are his wife, Carol Inherst Coss, daughters Ruth Ann (David) Rayner, Evelyn Palmer, Janet (Roger) Darrah, stepdaughter Cathy (David) Carter, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and his pet companions Billy and Bobby.

Coss, Mary Natalie Jones, age 76, of Hannibal, Ohio, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 in the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born January 28, 1933 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of the late David K. and Leola E. Newcomb Jones.

Mary retired from Omal Credit Union in July 1995 after 26 years of service with her last employment position as CEO. She was a member of the Ohio Valley Chorale for several years and traveled with them to Spain and the World's Fair in New Orleans. She was also a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, New Martinsville, where she was the organist for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Jones.

Survivors include her loving husband, John Coss; three daughters, Laura (Alex) Dezubay of Bethlehem, PA, Sylvia (Bruce) Brackbill of Cranberry Township, PA, and Natalie (Bryan) Fox of Mt. Clair, WVa.; a sister, Marcia Long of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Heidi and Stephanie Brackbill, Lauretta and Kathleen Dezubay, and John and Megan Fox.

He was born February 23, 1952 in Meadville, Pa., to Robert and Mary Coughenour. He had numerous businesses, but had recently worked for the Salvation Army.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of four years, Becky; and son, Kyle Dalton. Kyle, there was not a day that went by that he did not think about you. COUGHLAN, Carole Lynn, 55, of Wheeling, W.Va., died on January 1, 2009, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling. She was the beloved daughter of Jean Clark Coughlan of Wheeling, and the late Harold A. Coughlan, who died in 2000.

Carole was a high school graduate of the former Triadelphia High School in 1971; a former assistant for 30 years at the Good Shepherd

Nursing Home; and a member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wheeling.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Scott Coughlan, in May of 2005.

Surviving in addition to her mother is her sister, Nancy Chalak and her husband, John, of Wheeling.

He was born Feb, 3, 1937, in Woodsfield, son of Clark and Helen Truex Craig.

Mr. Craig retired from the Akron Brass Company in 1993 as an assembler. He was a member of the Wooster Moose Lodge for 35 years. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rosemary Ickes.

Surviving are his wife, Marian L Brown Craig, whom he married Dec. 6, 1969; a daughter, Sharon (William) Smith of Wooster; and a son, Richard (Linda) Crosby of Marietta; grandchildren, Lisa (Christopher) Campbell of Waterford, Vicki (Rock) Frost of West Salem and Brian (Lori) Gray of West Salem; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; his siblings, Ruth Pfalzgraf of Clarington, Linda (Dave) Wood of Moundville, W.Va., Mary (Robert) Krownapple of Creston, Elsie McMorrow of Wooster, Dean (Nellie) Craig and David Craig, both of Woodsfield.

        Thomas Eugene Cross, 66, of Ashland, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his residence.

        He was born Oct. 11, 1942, in Ashland, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Doggett) Cross.

        Mr. Cross was a resident all his life of Ashland, where he was a farmer. He was a volunteer with Life Works and most recently with the Council on Aging. He was a member of Shenandoah Christian Church and Yesteryear Machinery Club and had served in the Army National Guard for six years.

        Survivors include his two sons and daughters in-law, Jeffrey and Kimberly Cross of Oklahoma and James and Rebecca Cross of Port Clinton; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jason Shopbell of Ashland; his stepmother, Ruth Cross of Ashland; seven grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and David Dotson of Georgia.

Work was considered a hobby, she also enjoyed spending time at the Sunbury Library, reading Beverly Lewis Amish books, and solving jig saw puzzles. While both loving and giving, she always saw the goodness in everyone. Dependable as well as hardworking, she treasured her family, her daughters, and watching her grandchildren grow. Survived by daughters, Denise (Mike) Stover of Johnstown, Kristi Layton of Centerburg, Marci Young of Delaware; seven grandchildren, Colin, Brandon, Alicia, Melissa, Corbin, Tyler, and Taylor; father, Harold Crossman of Florida; brothers, Ronald (Ella) Crossman of Phoenix, and Richard (Liz) Crossman of Columbus. Preceded in death by mother Mary (Wooster) Crossman.

        BEDFORD — Gerald R. Curry, 77, 206 Shawnee Lane, Bedford, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at White River Lodge in Bedford.

        He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Danville, Ill., the son of Ivan & Thelma (Cronkhite) Curry. He married Judi Piper on July 21, 1973, in Avoca, and she survives.

        He was a maintenance supervisor over large apartment complexes in Indianapolis, South Carolina and North Carolina.

        He was of the United Methodist faith, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, he also loved to help neighbors with any maintenence [sic–maintenance] problems. He loved playing bridge and Euchre. Mr. Curry's pleasant personality endeared him to everyone he met.

        Surviving are his wife, Judi (Piper) Curry of Bedford; two daughters, Sally Woody of North Ogden, Utah, and Michelle Clair of Indianapolis; one son, Scott Thurley of Bloomington; one sister, Jean Shelby of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Jim Curry.

        Cremation was chosen. Burial at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

          A celebration of life is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the residence, 206 Shawnee Lane, Bedford.

Foxy was a retired assistant manager of the former State Liquor Store, Woodsfield, Ohio; a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Yellowstone National Park.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman and also enjoyed pitching horseshoes in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Lester and George Dailey; three sisters, Lavada Hooper, Bessie Parker and Nellie Galliher.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Willison Dailey whom he married on July 21, 1945; two daughters: Sue (James) Hooper of Woodsfield, Ohio and Bonnie (John) Giesy of Loudonville, Ohio; one son: Jerry (Wanda) Dailey of Pickerington, Ohio; four grandchildren: Kurt and Todd Hooper, Beth Evans and Kimberly Dailey; seven great grandchildren.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Powhatan Point, Ohio and the St. John's church choir. She and her husband Lenzy were Sunday school teachers at St. John's. Eula was a member of the Women's Guild and enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and feeding the birds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lenzy R. Darrah, Jr., whom she married June 2, 1945; a daughter, Diane Darrah; and a brother, Harold Isaly.

        In addition to his mother and wife, Bobby is survived by one daughter Jill Costello Henline and husband Michael of Bridgeport, one son Brian Davisson and friend Daisy of Weston, and two grandchildren Matthew and Meghan Henline

        Also surviving is one brother Rycke Davisson of Weston.

        Bobby Davisson was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. He was a member of the Weston Eagles and Moose clubs.

She was born near Batesville, Ohio on December 20, 1912 a daughter of the late Aaron Melvin and Amanda M. Bates Gregg.

Mildred was a homemaker; member of the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, Kennonsburg, Ohio; member of the former Order of Eastern Star Lodge, Summerfield, Ohio where she held many offices including that of Deputy Grand Matron and later transferring her membership to the Order of Eastern Star #206, Barnesville, Ohio; member of the Kennonsburg Grange; member of the Beaver Hills Garden Club; member of the Good Cheer Circle and was a volunteer at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Blaine Day on November 5, 1990; two brothers, Frank and William Gregg; two sisters, Nellie Ahrendt and Mary E. Somers.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including, Evan (Nancy) Brill of Columbus, Ohio and Frank M. (Peggy) Gregg, Jr. of Lafayette, Colorado both of whom were raised in the Day home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Winland, Vernon Winland, Clesson Winland and Cecil Winland; three sisters, Myrtle Williams, Doris Wittenbrook and Grethel DeVore.

        The graveside service for Orlin Sherman Dennis, 87, of Watonga, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Watonga. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.

        He was born April 5, 1921, in Birdstown,* Tenn., to Thomas Millard Dennis and Ada Ethel Garrett and died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Watonga Municipal Hospital.

        He married Ruby L. Meade Oct. 1, 1940, in Watonga. He lived most of his life in Watonga, and worked as a mechanic and in farming and ranching.

        Surviving are his wife, Ruby; three daughters, Athena Price of Tulsa, and Loretta Young and Francis Lamothe, both of Watonga; two sisters, Wanda Norris of Marlow and Imogene Batten of LaConner, Wash.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

        He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and five sisters.

        She was born May 10, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Otto Rossi and Helen Rovella Rossi.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Edward DeNoon, Sr.; brothers, Reno and Eddie Rossi.

        Surviving are four children, Roger (Kandace) DeNoon, Jr., Kimberly DeNoon, and Dominick (Denise) DeNoon of St. Clairsville, and Kelly DeNoon of Fairpoint; brother, Dan Rossi; sister, Florence Fatigato; 8 grandchildren.

        A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family in Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.

Barbara A. DeVault, 79, of Dover, went home to be with the lord peacefully with her loving daughters by her side, on October 19, 2009 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia. Born on June 30, 1930, in New Philadelphia, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Florence Harper Dupler. She married, William DeVault, on October 11, 1969. William preceded her in death on July 20, 1998. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Dupler; her sister, Dolores Fragasse; two grandsons, Michael and Kevin Proper; and her daughter in-law, Suzanne Proper.

Barbara enjoyed working as a press operator for Dover Molded Products. She retired after 23 years of service. She traveled all over the United States and always looked forward to a road trip. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Barbara was a very generous and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her family was very important to her. She was a member of New Life Church of God and the Tops Club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) #1504 which are both in Dover.

She will be sadly missed by her five sons; Daniel (Louann) Proper, Paul Proper, and Thomas Proper, all of Florida, Douglas Proper of North Canton, and Dennis Proper of Parral; three daughters, Rebecca Dye of New Philadelphia, Barbara (Daniel) Saunders and Sue (Timothy) Beachy both of Brightwood; her sister, Juanita (Bill) Page of Dover; her brother in-law, Henry Fragasse of Dover; her two sisters-in law, Emma Jane Dupler of Dover and Betty Dupler of Greenville, SC, her step-son, Jeff De Vault; as well as many grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind, Marjorie Croft of Barberton, who was one of her closest friends for 70 years.

A celebration of Barbara's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the service of committal, a meal will take place at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center in Dover.

He was a former supervisor for the former Dierkes Landscaping, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio; enjoyed farming, being outdoors and taking his kids fishing.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Daniel Dierkes on February 8, 1993.

He was born October 9, 1926 in New Martinsville, WV, a son of the late Melvin and Blanche Dietrich Deitch.

He was a retired auto mechanic at Ormet Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio; a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 28 in New Martinsville; and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII having served with the 11th Airborne division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris Johnston Deitch, on October 27, 2002; a son, Rodney Deitch; and a brother, Ralph Deitch.

Survivors include a son, David (Tammy) Deitch of Paden City; three brothers, Gene Deitch and Robert Deitch, both of Akron, Ohio, and Duane Deitch of Clarington, Ohio; two sisters, Gaynell Auten and Mary Eddy, both of Woodsfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Elva "Jo" Dietrich, 91, formerly of Orcard Lake, Michigan, died Jan. 1, 2009, at Woodland Terrace in Bridgeman. She was born Aug. 2, 1917 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Carl and Ada Walters Dotta.

She was a graduate of Salem High School and worked for many years as a secretary in the accounting profession. She enjoyed gardening, bridge, crossword pu771es, was an outstanding homemaker and loving grandmother. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Joseph.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan (Steven) Dietrich-Reed of St. Joseph; and two grandsons, Jonathan and Alexander, both of St. Joseph.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul William Dietrich, in 1989, whom she married May 10, 1941 in Woodsfield; a son, John in 1979; a sister, Ruth Trembly; and two brothers, Charles Dotta and Ray Dotta.

A Celebration of Life service was held Jan. 5, at the First Congregational Church, St. Joseph, officiated by Rev. Dr. Robert Bramen. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home, Citadel Dance and Music Center or charity of your choice.

        Jimmy Ray Dinwiddie Jr., 36, of Springfield, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

        He was born June 26, 1973, in Springfield, the son of Jimmy Sr. and Martha (Young) Dinwiddie. On July 25, 1998, he married Tammy Kay Hoskins in Springfield. Jimmy was a 1991 graduate of Central High School in Springfield. He worked as a welder for Loren Cook Company for over 10 years, and was of the Baptist faith. Jimmy loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

        Those surviving him include his wife, Tammy; their three children, Sabriana, Alyssa and Jimmy III, all of the home; his parents, Martha and Jimmy Dinwiddie Sr.; a brother, Scott Dinwiddie, and his family, of Springfield; sisters, Jasmine and Rosie, both of Springfield; and a host of relatives and friends.

        His grandparents preceded him in death.

        Harry Francis Dougherty, 85, of Parkersburg, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

        He was born June 9, 1923, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Harry S. and Lyda Marie Dotson Dougherty.

        He was a 1941 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a paratrooper and was in Company H 187th Glider Infantry. While in Japan, he was present when McArthur signed the Peace Treaty. After the Peace Treaty, he served in the Occupational Force in Japan. He retired as a Lieutenant and was a former Chief of Police of the Parkersburg Police Department, where he served from 1947-1983. He was a member of the Marrtown Church of Christ, where he served as elder, deacon and Bible Class teacher. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.

        He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Reba F. Stanley Dougherty; one daughter, Kathy Kemp (Michael) of Poteau, Okla.; one son, Don Dougherty (Brenda) of Davisville, W.Va.; four sisters, Lillian Plum of Parkersburg, Becky Petty of Boaz, W.Va., Barbara Dougherty of Great Falls, Mont., and Ava Stanley of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Ed Dougherty of Norwalk, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Jesse Kemp, Jared Dougherty, Justin Kemp, and Julie Dougherty.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant sons; two brothers, Kenneth and James Dougherty; and one sister, Marjorie Showalter.

        Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Evangelist Randy Yerby officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

She was currently a Senior Manager for Ernst & Young Mergers and Acquisitions Group and was formerly employed by Price Waterhouse and Company. She was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister: Linda (Dr. Rick) Moulton of Johnson City, Tennessee; two brothers: Greg (Julie) DuBois of Worthington, Ohio and Brian (Jaymie) DuBois of Redwood City, California; several nieces and nephews.

She was a Girl Scout leader, a Red Cross Instructor, and assistant swim coach in Shadyside, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Dye; grandson, Robert William Reid; great great granddaughter, Alexis Hefner; parents, Clarence and Edna Christy; sister, Dorothy Harmon; and brothers, Eldon and James Christy.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Roger) Brown of Shadyside, Cathie Johnson of Rock Hill, SC., Leslie (John) Wilhelm of Springdale, PA.; and Arnie (James) Hall of Canton; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grand children; and sister, Cynthia (Fred) Reger of Lancaster, Ohio.

DYER, Betty, 76, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at her home.

Betty was born March 13, 1933, in Clarington, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Rosella Connors Taylor.

She was a Red Cross volunteer and a Presbyterian by faith.

Preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are her companion, Richard John Sharpe; three sons, Richard (Erlinda) Dyer of Santa Ana, Calif., Dan Robert Dyer, of Bellaire, and John (Melanie) Dyer of Bellaire; a daughter, Diana Ikey of Shadyside, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Tammy) Taylor of Lewisville, Ohio, and five grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at the Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, OH., on Thursday July 23, 2009, from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 7 p.m. with Monsignor Gene Mullett officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
