Leo Metz was a chemist and Marine Corps
veteran.
He was born 19 November 1929 to Elmer
& Georgia (Leiss) Metz near Jackson Center, Shelby County, Ohio; he was the
fourth of five children and oldest of their two sons. He grew up on the family
farm and graduated from Jackson Center High School in 1947. Mr. Metz served
three years (the standard enlistment term at the time) in the Marine Corps
during the Korean War, but never saw combat.
After his service, he attended Capital
University in Columbus, Ohio, earning a bachelor's degree in Chemistry. In
1957, he married Nancy Ann Henthorne--a Zanesville native and nursing student
at Ohio State University. They had four daughters.
Mr. Metz began his career working for
the state of Ohio, testing liquors to ensure they met
legal requirements (like % alcohol). He also worked on developing new
detergents and in the early 70s, worked to develop manufacturing processes for
a cardboard box manufacturer until the plant burned down. He divorced Nancy in
1971 and spent the rest of his career in the construction industry cleaning
brickwork (a process that requires knowledge and application of acids to clean
the dust that builds up during construction).
Leo retired in rural central Florida,
where he purchased five acres, complete with a stocked fish pond, and stayed
busy growing a sizable garden, raising chickens, and always building or
crafting something.
Mr.
Metz passed away on 3 February 2008 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was survived

Keith Warren Oldemeyer
Source: The [Boise] Idaho Statesman - Tuesday,
December 16, 2008
Keith Warren Oldemeyer passed away Dec.
13, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by
his loving family.
Born Jan. 25, 1953, in Prosser, Wash.,
Keith was the first child of Donald and Eileen Oldemeyer. Two years later the
family moved to Nyssa, Ore., where Keith attended school and excelled as a
student and athlete. He earned the honor of Eagle Scout. His successes led to
his appointment to the United States Naval Academy in 1971. Four years later
Keith graduated with a mechanical engineering degree and began his career as a
US naval officer. While serving on the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, he
obtained his Surface Warfare Officer qualifications and qualified as Officer of
the Deck, responsible for the safe operation and navigation of the ship. He spent
the last two years of his service as an officer recruiter in Boise, leaving the
service with the rank of Lieutenant.
Keith began the next stage of his life
in the Treasure Valley when he sold investment securities and then later spent
several years farming in Nyssa. He met and married his first wife, Terry,
during this time. They had two girls, Lacey and Brianna. Keith and Terry
eventually divorced. Keith also attended Boise State University where he
obtained his Master of Business Administration degree. Keith and his family
moved to Boise in 1987 and he began his engineering career at Conveyor
Engineering, Incorporated. In 1998 Keith and his good friend and coworker, Sid
Cannon, formed a partnership and bought Conveyor Engineering. Through their
hard work and dedication, along with the finest design team in the world, made
Conveyor Engineering a world class material handling company. In 2008 Keith and
Sid sold the company to several of their employees who will carry on the
tradition of design excellence.
In 2004 Keith married his soul mate and
best friend, Barbara. Their favorite pastimes included spending time with
family, golfing, and fishing on a mountain stream. Keith greatly enjoyed the
addition of Barbara's children, Geoff and Lauren, into his life. In Dec. 2007,
Keith was diagnosed with lung cancer. He spent the next twelve months fighting
this terrible disease, but his love of life never allowed him to give up hope.

GROVER LESLIE LES PAYNE, son of Floyd
and Katy Davis Payne, was born June 7, 1955, in Lebanon, Missouri and departed
this life December 7, 2008, also in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of
fifty-three years.
In July of 2008, Les, as he was known
to family and friends, made a profession of faith in Christ and had been
attending Bible study on Thursday nights with Pastor Uder. On February 23,
2001, he was united in marriage with Sondra Massey. They had a relationship
built of friendship and love. At the time of his death they had celebrated
seven wonderful years of marriage. Les graduated from Buffalo High School in
1973 and began working at Detroit Tool. He was employed with them for over
thirty-three years until his retirement, due to ill health. He respected his
employers as they did him. His knowledge and attention to detail earned him the
respect he deserved. Les had a variety of past times including fishing and
watching wrestling and football on television. He was also known for being a
practical joker and would do anything to make his friends and family laugh.
However, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with his loving
family.
He is survived by his wife Sondra of
the home; his mother, Katy Payne; one son, Travis Payne, both of Lebanon; two
daughters, Stacy Payne of Rocky Mount, MO and Janet Payne of Lebanon; five
brothers, Jim Payne and his wife Arna Jean, John Payne and his wife Linda and
Paul Ray Payne, all of Lebanon, Billy Payne and his wife Terry of Louisburg, MO
and Danny Payne and his wife Julie of Meta, MO; three sisters, Betty Thompson
and her husband Paul of Phillipsburg, MO, Katherine Purvis and her husband
Danny of Junction City, OH and Margie Payne of Lebanon; one granddaughter
Breeanna Payne; his mother-in-law, Helen Massey of Lebanon; other relatives and
many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father,
Floyd Payne, one brother, Wayne Payne and a sister Dorothy Giboney.
Les was a loving husband, caring
father, cherished son, treasured brother, fun-loving grandfather, and loyal
friend. He had the ability to make people smile even on their darkest day. His
kind spirit and gentle ways will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all
who had the pleasure of knowing him.
