Neuhart-Clare, Jacquelyn P. Neuhart-Clare, nee
McGlumphy
Source: The Tri-City Herald, Kennewick, Washington;
12 Jun 2005
Jacquelyn 'Jackie' P. Neuhart-Clare
passed peacefully at home on June 8, 2005, while surrounded by what she loved
most, her children.
Jackie was born on May 10, 1927, in
Barnesville, Ohio, to the late George V. and Jesse T. McGlumphy.
Mom grew up in rural Ohio during some
of the darkest days of her time, that of the depression and World War II, but
being part of the 'greatest generation' she helped to support her family and
friends who had been sent to fight.
Mom went on to marry and have nine
children, most of the time raising her growing family on her own.
During the 1960s, she was part of the
founding force of what is now called Community Action Committee in Pasco. Also
during the early 1970s, she also participated in state congressional hearings
to help fund the education funding for the lower income population.
Also during the 1970s, she was active
in Cub Scouts being a troop leader when her younger sons were members of the
Scouts. Even while raising her own family, she always found time and a place
for those who needed a surrogate mother by being a foster parent.
When mom wasn't raising children or
being a Scout leader she could be found dancing the night away, a passion that
she slowly missed the older she got. One of the things that mom looked forward
to with age was grandchildren, of which she had plenty.
Mom was preceded in death by two of her
sons, Jerry and David Neuhart, as well as her brother, Harry McGlumphy, and her
sisters, Connie Goleck, Rosemary Schackelford and Judy McGlumphy.
Mom is survived by her brother, William
McGlumphy; sisters, Nora Max and Jane Eschbaugh all of Ohio; daughters, Penny
Gregory, Evonne (Robert) Rodabaugh, Audrey (Raymond) Miller of Kennewick as
well as sons, Jack (Dena) Neuhart and Robin Neuhart, both of Kennewick, Tony
Neuhart of Lynnwood, Washington, and her youngest son, Todd (Karen) Neuhart of
Kennewick.
Mom also is survived by 21
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved
unconditionally.
Mom's children would like to
thank the wonderful people at the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice House for the
wonderful and thoughtful care that they gave to our beloved mother during her
final days.
Visitation will be at Mueller's Tri-City Funeral Home on Monday, June
13, 2005, from 3-8 p.m. at 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick, WA. Service will be
held on Tuesday, June 14th, at 2 p.m. at Cathedral of Joy, 153 Gage Blvd.

Perriman,
Carolin Perriman, nee Dorothy Carolin Jackson
Source: The Rocky Mountain News, [Colorado] -
Saturday, February 12, 2005
CAROLIN PERRIMAN,
70, PAINTER AND
TEACHER
Carolin Perriman was a painter but not
like you might think. Her speciality was china, as in real china, not ceramic.
And the speciality of her specialty was Easter eggs.
"We'd start getting calls around
Christmas, people asking if Carolin was going to paint eggs again. And they'd
order eggs for their children and grandchildren," said her son, Scott, of
Brighton.
Mrs. Perriman, 70, died Feb. 3, at St.
Anthony Central Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Colorado
Springs to Mary Louise and Jesse Jackson. She grew up in Manitou Springs.
She graduated from what is now Colorado
State University in Fort Collins with a degree in English and a teaching
certificate.
"Like the second or third day,
there was a mixer dance. She met my dad," Scott said.
That was Ray Perriman. And he called
her a couple days after and said, "This is Ray."
"Ray who?" she asked.
Ray persisted, and Mrs. Perriman agreed
to go out with him.
They were married Sept. 11, 1956, in
Manitou Springs.
When she was 33, Mrs. Perriman ended up
in a wheelchair with a paralyzed right leg.
"Mom had a big, soft lap that kids
loved to crawl up to and sit there," Scott said. "She was always
sitting. That means she always had a lap. And she was on their level, so kids
weren't intimidated by an adult towering over them."
Mrs. Perriman believed in manners.
"In another day and age, she would
be what people called a lady. There was a right way
and a wrong way to act," Scott said. "A big pet peeve of hers was if
someone perceived her as less than fully there."
She'd politely, but firmly, explain
that it was her leg, not her mind that was affected, Scott said.
She taught a few years after college
but mainly raised her family in Westminster. That doesn't mean she didn't
continue teaching.
Granddaughter Molly, 12, said that her
grandmother taught her to read.
After her funeral, several women
friends told Scott his mom was a role model "for being a mother, a
grandmother and a lady."
When Scott decided to go into the news
business, she supported him.
"It wasn't as much what we did. It
was were we doing it right?" he said.
The wheelchair was part of her life. To
Mrs. Perriman, it was just there.
"She didn't talk about her
disability. She acted very much as if she didn't have a disability. She
expected to participate fully in life," Scott said. "She taught us
that things are going to happen. You have to keep moving on and be the best you
can be."
When Ray came down sick with cancer,
she cared for him until he died in 1998. She then moved to Morrison.
In addition to Scott, survivors
include two daughters, Janet, of Golden, and Becky Riedo, of Englewood; one
brother, Richard Jackson, of Evergreen; and six grandchildren.
