Abate, Kayla Kathryn Abate

        Kayla Kathryn Abate, 19 month old daughter of Theresa Reese and Tim Abate, died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania.

        She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 25, 2003.

        Surviving are her parents, Theresa Reese and Tim Abate; two sisters, Haily Reese and Jessie Abate; two brothers, Jerry Abate and Timmy Abate; grandparents, Kathryn Reese of Shadyside, Jerry Abate of Benwood and Kay Rice of Bridgeport; special family, Denny and Tara Doggett of Charleroi, Pennsylvania.

        Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

        Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery.

 

Ackerman, Paul Ackerman
Source--Times Leader     Martins Ferry, Ohio

Ackerman , Paul  59, of Jerusalem, died Thursday, September 1, in Jerusalem as the result of a mowing accident. He was born October 6, 1945, in Cambridge, a son of the late Clarence and Mildred Dewar Ackerman. He was a former employee of Ogden Newspapers and attended the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife Connie Schafer Ackerman; a son, Jerry (Stacy) Ackerman, of Barnesville; a daughter, Tammy (Brian) Clary of Somerton; a brother, Clarence (Eileen) Ackerman of Somerton; three grandchildren, Aaron Willis and Ryan Samuel Ackerman, and Jessica Renee Clary; and his mother-in-law, Lova (Don) Warrick of Barnesville. Friends will be received Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, where services will be held Sunday, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

 

Adair, Dan Adair

        Funeral services for Dan Adair, 79, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cleatus Speed officiating.

        Interment will follow in Shirley Cemetery.

        Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until service time Sunday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.

        Mr. Adair died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab Center.

        He was born on Oct. 7, 1926, in the Shirley community to Robert Dyre and Vessie Goolsby Adair.  He married Maxine Tally.  She preceded him in death.

        Mr. Adair served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

        Survivors include two sisters, Auvis May of Sulphur Springs and Alice Louise Russell of West.

 

Adams, Lawrence Paton Adams

    Adams, Lawrence Paton, Scio, died September 16, 2005. He was born June 2, 1920 in Monroe County. He was the only child of the late George and Zillah Paton Adams. He attended the Rinard Mills two-room school and graduated from Graysville High School in 1938. He attended and graduated cum laude from Ohio University in 1942 with a bachelors of science in education degree. In 1951, he received his masters in school administration from Ohio University where he also did advanced graduate work. His teaching experiences were at Graysville, Lewisville, Woodsfield and Skyvue high schools in Monroe County.
   He served in administrative capacity at Lewisville, Woodsfield and Skyvue. In 1962 he moved to Scio as superintendent of schools and later served as assistant superintendent of Harrison Hills City School District. He was assigned as principle at Jewett-Scio High School in 1971 from which he retired in 1980.
   A member of the Scio United Methodist Church, he provided leadership in many church committees. Service to his community consisted of memberships in Scio American Legion Post 482, Scio Civic Club, Scio Masonic Lodge and Dining Fork Ruritans. He served as president, secretary, and treasurer on the local level during his 42 years as a member. He was also zone governor, district governor and national director of Ruritan for the Ohio Ruritan District. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater with a unit of combat engineers. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Freda Carson Adams; two daughters, Sharon Lynn & John Spring of Dennison and Debra Kay & Steve Starkey of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Kevin and Julie Spring and Krista and Greg Starkey.
   Service was held Oct. 3 in the Scio United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Ricketts and the Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Burial was in Fairview Gardens Cemetery in Jewett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scio United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, PO Box 554, Scio or Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, 44622. Arrangements were by Koch Funeral Home, Scio.

 

Addison, Hester Addison nee Adkins

NEW CARLISLE - Hester L. (Adkins) Addison, 57, of New Carlisle died March22, 2005, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 18, 1947, in Marengo to Emmett and Ina (Phelps) Adkins Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Addison, whom she married September  27, 1968; children, Rich (Lisa) of New Carlisle, Christine (Nicholas) Roemer of Lebanon, Cynthia Addison of New Carlisle, and Mark Addison and friend Mandy Ferrell of Troy; two grandchildren; seven sisters, Ruth Pukansky, Betty Stephens, Dorothy Coleman, Eloise Freeman, Laura Mailey, Joyce Wertz, all of Marengo, Mary Fouts of Delaware; eight brothers, Emmett Jr., Eugene, Enoch, Ernie, James, all of Marengo, Franklin, Ellet, both of Cardington, Joney of  Chesterville.

Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Brad Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue., Dayton, Ohio  45420.

 

Alexander, John Allison Alexander

        John Allison Alexander, Jr., 91, of Owensboro, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at the Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.  Born July 26, 1914, Mr. Alexander was a retired truck driver and had a private pilot’s license.  He was an Army World War II veteran.
        He is survived by three sons; Ron Alexander of Henderson, Lyndon Alexander of Charlestown, IN, and George Alexander of Hendersonville, TN; three daughters, Carrie Harrell of Clarmont, FL, Belinda Mann of Warren, IN, and Lisa Perkins of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
        There will be no visitation or services.  Glenn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
        Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Colonial Terrace Nursing Home.

Alleman, Paul Alleman

ALLEMAN, Paul, age 63, of State Route. 800, Woodsfield, Ohio, died Friday, August 19, 2005 in Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born in Monroe County Ohio on April 11, 1942, the son of Elizabeth Thomas Alleman and the late Paul K. Alleman. Paul served his country in the United States Air Force form 1962-1966; he was a retired welder for the Ormet Corporation he and his sons also owned and operated a water well drilling business.

In addition to his mother, Elizabeth Alleman of Woodsfield, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Davis Alleman of Woodsfield, Ohio; one daughter, Dedra Montgomery and her husband, Monte, of Woodsfield; two sons, Paul Nathan Alleman and his wife, Vici of Woodsfield and Virgil Alleman of Woodsfield; five grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Stephen and Shawn Pierce, Paul Kenneth Eugene (P.K.,) Toby and Elizabeth Alleman; and one sister, Betty Groves and her husband, Dean, of Woodsfield.

Friends received from 2-9 p.m. Monday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 South Paul Street, Woodsfield, Ohio, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2005 with Brent Roth officiating. Interment in the Moffett Cemetery near Woodsfield, Ohio, with Full Military graveside services conducted by the Belmont Veterans Council. On July 2, 2002 Paul underwent a lung transplant and because of this he enjoyed two and a half years of good health and quality time with his family before he became sick a few months ago. In memory of Paul, please consider becoming a tissue and organ donor.

 

Allen, Hazel Emma Allen nee Ault

Hazel Emma Allen, 87, of Ashland passed away Monday July 4, 2005 at Crystal Care Center.  On Feb.26, 1918, in Monroe County, Mrs. Allen was born to French and Clara Suter Ault. She had been a resident of Ashland County all her life, where she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Allen was married to Chester Allen who preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Penny Allen of Naples, Fla.; one grandson; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death also by two sisters, Minnie and Anna.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7,2005, at Ashland County Memorial Park with Chaplain Gerald Gess officiating. There will be no visitation.  Heyl Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

 

Altman, Emma R. Altman [nee Richner]

        ALTMAN, Emma R. Richner, 83, formerly of G.C.&P. Road, Wheeling, W.Va., died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 in the Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling.

         She was born June 24, 1921 in Woodsfield, Ohio, daughter of the late Frederick and Elsie Schultze Richner.

         Mrs. Altman was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wheeling.

         In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlen W. Altman Sr. in 1987; two brothers; and three sisters.

         Surviving are a son, Harlen W. Altman Jr. of Moundsville; a daughter, Rosie DeSantis and her husband, Frank, of Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Stacie Dei and her husband, Todd, and Jeffrey Zan; and three sisters, Dora Beaver Cunningham and Lucy Dayton of Wheeling, and Charlotte Starkey of Cleveland, Ohio.

         Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, Wheeling.         Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Joseph H. Altman, Harlen W. Altman Jr.

        Harlen Walter Altman Jr., 56, of the Moundview Nursing Home, Moundsville, formerly of G.C. & P. Road, Wheeling, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in the Ohio Valley Medical Center.*

        He was born November 13, 1948, in Wheeling, W.Va., son of the late Harlen W., Sr. and Emma Richner Altman.

        Harlen was a U.S. Marine Vietnam Veteran and a Catholic by faith.

        Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Zann; a sister, Rosie DeSantis and her husband Frank; and a niece Stacie Dei and her husband, Todd, all of Wheeling.

        Funeral services and entombment were held at the convenience at the family.  Arrangements by the Kepner  Funeral home, 1308 Chapline Street, Wheeling, W. Va.

Anderson, Emily “Ruthe” Anderson, nee Pyle

        Ruthe Anderson, 91, of Toulon died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Toulon, Ill.

        Born Aug. 25, 1914, in Toulon, Ill., the daughter of Thomas H. and Maude M. Claybaugh Pyle, she married Phillip Anderson on June 12, 1938, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2001, along with one son, David Anderson, and nine brothers and sisters.

        Surviving are two sons, Bob Anderson and Gary (Lynda) Anderson, both of Toulon, Ill.; as well as two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

        Ruthe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Toulon.

        She was a past member of the former Toulon Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Die Hard Cubs Fan club.

        Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Toulon Cemetery, Toulon. Rev. Al Harmon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Toulon Cemetery, Toulon.

        Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Activities Fund at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

 

Arbogast, Jordan Arbogast

Arbogast, Jordan G., 17 of Beallsville, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 in Barnesville Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He was born

June 9, 1988 in Bellaire.  He was a senior at Beallsville High School and attended the Jerusalem United Methodist Church. 

Jordan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn Harper, great-grandparents, Virgil Arbogast, Zelda Davis, Charlie and Regina Harper.

Surviving are his parents, John and Diane Davis Arbogast; his mom, Misty (Frank) Amato of Sunbury; Greg Harper of Hannibal; a brother and sister, Christian and Hannah Amato, of Sunbury; his grandfather, Wayne (Karen) Harper of Woodsfield; his aunts Jennifer (Jacob) Kula of Port Washington, Crystal (Cliff) Schmidt of Beallsville, Kelly (Mark) Applegarth of Galloway, and Kim (Mike) Humphrey of Byesville; cousins Brandie, Mark, Trey, Dustin, Shayne, Aaron, and Hannah; great-grandparents, Ruth Arbogast, Dale Davis, and Francis and Sudie Sylvester.

Archer, Judith M. Archer, nee McCardle

        Judith M. Archer, 67, of Virginia St., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. She was born Feb. 13, 1938 in Wheeling, W. Va., the daughter of the late Floyd W. "Pete" and Anna Lenora (Young) Brock.

        She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Martins Ferry.

        Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Archer, a daughter Cindy (Dan) McCardle of Galloway, Ohio; three sons, David S. Archer of Martins Ferry, Michael T. Archer of Worthington, Ohio and Brian J. (Gina) Archer of Haydenville, Ohio and three grandchildren: Eric and Adam McCardle and Kara Archer.

        Friends will be received Friday, 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 6 , 2005 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Burial follows in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, Pa.

Arevalo, William Lee Arevalo

        CENTER POINT - William Lee Arevalo, 64, a 22-year resident of Center Point, Texas, entered into rest on June 25, 2005, at his residence.

        Mr. Arevalo was born July 30, 1940, in Widen, West Virginia, to Charles and Rebeca Arevalo. During Vietnam, he was stationed in Germany, while serving his country in the U.S. Army. He married Bobbie Sue Arevalo on September 3, 1985, in Center Point. He was a GM mechanic in Kerrville and Boerne for 35 years, and had been working as a machinist for Mooney Aircraft for the past 8 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he was a volunteer for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Troop #140. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodwork and playing with his dogs.

        He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Arevalo.

        He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Sue Arevalo; children, Jamie Cox of Utopia, Bill Martin of Center Point and JoAnn Martin of Bethel, Ohio; grandchildren, James Cox, Jessica Cox, Frank Cox, Cody Martin, Daniel Martin, Sarah Martin, Amanda Martin and Myan Martin; sisters, Delores Shaw and husband of Kentucky, Patty Beavers and husband Dewayne of Camden, Arkansas; and brother, Carlos Arevalo of Orlando, Florida.

        Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Coronado Drive with Bishop Stephen Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Center Point Cemetery.

        Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts Troop #140, c/o the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, 202 Coronado Drive, Kerrville, Texas 78028.

Atsalis, Marjorie Atsalis, nee Freese

        Marjorie M. Atsalis, 70, of Hempstead, Texas passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2005.

        She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on Jan. 6, 1935.

        She is survived by sons John Atsalis, Daniel Atsalis and Mike Atsalis; daughter Cathy Clendening; brother Walter Freese; sister Judy Croce; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

        Funeral arrangements were handled by McWilliams Funeral Home of Hempstead.

 

Ault, Mary Louise Ault nee Noling

Ault, Mary Louise, 88, of Bellaire, Ohio, formerly of Lincoln Avenue, Shadyside, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire, Ohio. She was born Sept. 8, 1916 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late Guy and Goldie Schafer Noling. She was a retired teller for the former Union Savings Bank in Shadyside and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shadyside.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Ault on March 11, 1996 and her brother, Beryl Noling.

Surviving are her son, Guy G. Ault and his wife, Sisley of Shadyside. At her request, there will be no visitation.  Graveside services will be held on Friday, at 1 p.m., at the Powhatan Cemetery at Powhatan Point, Ohio, with the Reverend Alice L. Phillips officiating. Bach, Marcia Lynn Bach nee Harnage

Bach, Marcia Lynn, 49, 29984 TR 244, Lewisville, died Jan.25, 2003, in Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta. She was born at Tampa, Fla., June 27, 1953, a daughter of the late Walter and Helen Pilmer Harnage.    She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth B. Bach, whom she married Oct. 30, 1970; daughter, Samantha Bach, of the home; son, Jason Bach and his wife, Cathey, Hurricane, W.Va.; brother, Danny Harnage, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Toney (Mary) Miley, of Tampa ,Fla.; Sue Boyette, New Orleans, Lousiana; several nieces and nephews; family and friends; two special angels who were there with her through her journey, Max and Janet Winland, Woodsfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Bud and Nathaniel Harnage.

Friends were received at Watters Funeral Home, Jan. 28, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Jan.29, with Max Winland officiating. CALDWELL---Harold C. "Chan" Baker, 72, of Caldwell, died Tuesday (July 5, 2005) at Marietta Hospital, Marietta.  He was born April 25, 1933, in Calais, son of the late Marion Elwood and Melissa Cline Baker.  Mr. Baker was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Nelson Tree Service. He also worked for Ruble Construction and was co-owner of Harriman-Baker Timber.  He attended Calais Church and was a member of Caldwell Moose Lodge.

          He was preceded in death by a brother, Elwood Baker Jr.

          He leaves his wife, Betty Lou Huntsman Baker, whom he married Jan. 19, 1957; five daughters, Debbie Kay (Aaron) Lamber of Dexter City, Brenda Lee Odgen of South Carolina, Joyce Ann Baker of North Carolina and Teresa Marie (Rick) Davis of Caldwell; three sons, William Harold (Rachel) Baker of Caldwell, Thomas Elwood (Seena) Baker of Caldwell and Kenneth Earl (Nanette) Baker of Hawaii; a sister, Jenny (Tom) LaFollette of Lewisville; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

          Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. today (Thursday) at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where services will be 1 P.M. Friday with the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating.

Barnett, J. Lee Barnett

        J. Lee Barnett, 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Sterling Regional MedCenter. Visitation is Monday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services are Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with Pastor John Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

        Mr. Barnett was born in a sod house on the family homestead in Purcell on April 17, 1912, to Tom and Mary (Christman) Barnett.

        He lived in Colorado and California during his early years and graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, Calif., in 1930.

        He paid for his education at Colorado Teachers College, now University of Northern Colorado, by working at his grandparents dairy in Greeley. He obtained a bachelor's degree in 1936, and a master's in 1960.

        Well known in Sterling as "Mr. Barnett," he taught industrial arts and mechanical drawing at Sterling High School for 35 years, retiring in 1977.

        He married his college sweetheart, Lee Maurine "Billie" Williams, in Colorado Springs on Nov. 20, 1940.

        Mr. Barnett was well known for his skill and interest in lapidary, and was appreciated throughout the state and in Sterling. He taught lapidary and jewelry-making in adult night classes at Northeastern Junior College for many years. The local jewelry stores relied on his skills in repairing jewelry.

        He would scour the hills and caves around Sterling for blue barite, petrified wood, agate, jasper and arrowheads, and had an extensive collection of gems and minerals from around the world. Many rockhounds traveling through Sterling stopped to admire his collection and trade their treasures. Mr. Barnett inspired many locals to try their hands at lapidary and rock hunting.

        He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt game birds and to fly fish. He enjoyed several trips to Canada to fish for northern pike.

        Mr. Barnett was a lifetime member of the Sterling Elks Club, and the Colorado and National Education associations. He enjoyed attending Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever dinners, and purchasing pictures of the birds. He was an active member of the Northeastern Colorado Game and Fish Club, and was honored as Sportsman of the Year in 1994. He also received the Distinguished Service Award from Ducks Unlimited in 1999.

        Mr. Barnett was a member of First Baptist Church.

        He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Billie Barnett, of Sterling; sons Gary Lee Barnett, and Thomas Ray Barnett and wife Merry Anne; daughters Mary Maurine Black and husband Ken, and Viki Lynn Elliott and husband Glenn; and granddaughters Jennifer Polland, Sara Elliott Sillcox, and Lisa Elliott.

        Nora M. Bassa, 69, of Barton, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.

She was born Dec. 28, 1935 in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Fronius Snider.

        She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, the Colerain Senior Citizens and the Better Breathers Club. She was also a former Avon Representative and a care giver.

        Surviving are her husband, Edward Bassa Sr., a daughter, Anna Marie (Richard) Shrieve, Maynard, Ohio; a son, Edward (Jo Ann) Bassa Jr., Maynard; a sister, Sarah Sloan, Midway, Ohio; three grandchildren: Heidi Bringman, Kasi Schneid and Kristen Bassa and four great-grandchildren: Abbie and Brandon Bringman and Jayden and Camron Bassa.

        Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Clairsville, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Henry Mooney officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

        DEBARY - John S. Baublitz, 46, of DeBary Drive, died April 4, 2005, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Deltona.

        Mr. Baublitz worked in residential construction in DeLand. Born in Jacksonville, he moved to this area in 1985 from Ohio.

        He served in the U.S. Marines.

        Mr. Baublitz is survived by his companion of 20 years, Nancy Keener; two sons, John Ryan and Brian of Lisbon, Ohio; two daughters, Crystal Williams of Lisbon and Rebekah Baublitz of DeLand; his parents, John C. and Dorothy Brewer Baublitz of DeBary; two brothers, Mark of Thompson, Conn., and Donald of Deltona; two sisters, Sharon Kissam of DeBary and Beverly Kopp of Port Orange; and two grandchildren.

        Michael A. Bauer, 57, of Silverwood, died Monday, January 3, 2005 in his home with his family at his side. He was born May 7, 1947 in Pontiac to Walter B. and Marguerite A. (Milbocker) Bauer. He married Alice M. Pope November 14, 1974 in Twenty Nine Palms, CA.

        Michael served in the U.S. Marine Corp as an Electronics Technician, Sniper, and Service Officer, among other positions. He served two years in Vietnam. Michael was part of the 5th Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton. He was a Marine Corp Tech School instructor. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corp in 1996 after 30 years. Michael was a member of the Kingston VFW Post #5317 and Kingston AMVET Post #1072.

        Michael is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Tinia Bauer of Millington; grandchildren: Madison Brown and Tyler Brown; mother, Marguerite Bauer of Lapeer; sister, Mary (Roy) Carrasco of Lapeer. He was also loved by his many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Walter Bauer.

        Memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Kingston VFW Hall in Kingston. Military services under the direction of Kingston AMVET Post #1072 and Kingston VFW Post #5317.

        She was born Sept. 2, 1902, in Sardis, Ohio, the daughter of the late Randolph and Martha J. Price Rufener.

        She was a member of the Mount Olive Quilting Club, Hilltop Homemakers, and a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Sardis. Daisy was a loving mother, grandmother, and a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Fred W. Bauman on May 30, 1978; six brothers; four sisters; and three great-grandchildren.

        Survivors include five daughters, Delores (Ray) Straub, Marilyn (Roy) Ensinger, Janet (Sam) Straub, all of Sardis, Arlen (Lawrence) Winkler of Caldwell, Ohio, and Janis (Fred) Miller of New Matamoras; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edna Mizer and Pearle Barrick, both of Woodsfield, Ohio.

Beardmore , Denny L. , 72,  of Bethesda, Ohio died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005 at Ohio State University Hospital Columbus, Ohio. He was born June 8, 1933 in Woodsfield, Ohio, a son of the late Denver O. Beardmore and Dorothy M. Harmon Beardmore.

Denny was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation Cambridge Post where he served as weighman from 1969 to 1989,

he served with the Ohio State Police Aux., and was a ham radio operator, he

served in the US Navy and was a member of the Bethesda VFW and the Antrim American Legion, a member of the Bethesda South Main St. Church of Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Silba J. Kinkade Beardmore, daughters Sherile (David) Fisher of Old Washington, Ohio, Karen Cosby of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; sons, Kerry Brent Beardmore, Kevin S. Beardmore, both of Cambridge, Ohio, Charles Griffis of Anderson, S.C.; grandchildren Jacque (Dave) Berg, David Fisher, Jr., Mark Anderson, Evan, Ashley and Austin Beardmore, Devone and Charles Griffis, great grandchildren Brandon, Richard, and Ashley; a brother Ronald (Margie) Beardmore of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

        Mrs. Juanita R. Beeson, 83, of Fairfield, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 at her home.  She was a housewife and previoiusly had worked for Fairfield Garment Company for 13 years, and for Wayne City Garment Company for two years.

        Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne with Bro. Ronnie Hostettler officiating.  Friends may call on Saturday from noon to time of service at Hosselton Funeral Home.  Burial is in the Oak Valley Cemetery in Geff.

        Juanita was born June 9, 1921 at Fairfield to Harvey F. and Josephine Flinn Milner.  She married James J. Beeson on July 9, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Ind.  He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1998.

        Mrs. Beeson was a member of Oak Valley Free Will Baptist Church in Geff.

        Survivors include three daughters, Rosalee (Ronald) Pearce, Rinard, Katy (Sonny) Auvil, Flora, Nina (Mike) Stanford, Newton; four sons, James A.         Frank French Bennett, 82, of New Hope Road, Cherry Township, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Living Center, Grove City, after a long illness.

        Born in Pocahontas County, W.Va., July 18, 1922, he was the son of Leman and Mary Hammons Bennett.

        He retired from Mercer Alloy in Transfer, Mercer County, in 1977, where he had been a machine operator. He also was a retired coal miner and self-employed farmer who enjoyed raising chickens and potatoes and cutting wood.

        Mr. Bennett was a Protestant.

        Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Rose Bennett, whom he married Sept. 30, 1945; three sons and their spouses, Kermit Larry and Evelyn Bennett of New Castle, William Lester and Linda Bennett of Mercer and Freeman and Dawn Bennett of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five daughters, Violet Leonard of Cumberland, Ohio, Suzanne Martin of Slippery Rock, Frances Holmes and her companion, Richard Zellner, of Volant, Kathryn Lumley of Slippery Rock and Patricia Showalter and her companion, Mark Wack, of Slippery Rock. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

        He was preceded in death by five brothers; a sister; a son, Delmas; a grandson, Frank Joseph Bennett; and a great-great-grandson, Steve Martin.

Corlis  Corky”  Bessey March 19, 1911 - Oct. 21, 2005

        Services are being held for former Patterson Mayor Corlis “Corky” Bessey, who died Friday in Walnut Creek, CA.

        Mr. Bessey, 94, graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1935 and taught school for two years after graduation. He married Jane Cole in 1935, and the couple had four children.

        The Besseys came to Patterson in 1945 and Mr. Bessey purchased the Ford auto dealership and renamed it Bessey Motor Company. After 29 years in business, he sold the dealership in 1974 and retired.

       Mr. Bessey served on the Patterson City Council for a total of 12 years, six as a councilman and from 1966-72 as mayor. After that he served two four-year terms on the Stanislaus County Planning Commission beginning in 1974. Mr. Bessey and his wife, Jane, moved to Walnut Creek in 1995 to be near family.

       Mr. Bessey was president of the Patterson-Westly Chamber of Commerce three times during the 30 years he was a member. He served on the Patterson School Board for ten years, three of those years as its president. He was a member of the Patterson Business Association and the Patterson Fire Department. Dr. Bessey was a past president and longtime member of the Patterson Rotary Club.

       Mr. Bessey served as chairman on the Patterson Apricot Fiesta in 1981 and he was honored as Grand Marshal in1983 and in 1990. He was a strong supporter of Patterson High School athletics. For Many years he served as the official starter at local track meets. He and his family hosted foreign exchange students through the AFS student exchange program.

       Mr. Bessey and his wife traveled extensively after retirement and saw many sights including the Great Wall of China. He was a member of the Federated Methodist-Presbyterian Church.

       His daughters, Judith Cowan of Clayton, Mary Hawkins of San Francisco and Corliss Tacosa of Williamsburg, VA: brothers and sisters, Ray Bessey of Porterville, CA, Elaine Frodsham of Pasadena, CA, Nadine Hardaway of Springville, CA and Dorene Landers of Tulsa, OK: brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Cole of Sacramento, CA, eleven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren survive Mr. Bessey. His wife, Jane Bessey preceded him in death in 2004, and a son,  John Bessey in 1999.

       Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2005, at Federated Church in Patterson, CA at 11:0 0 AM.

        He was born June 1, 1933 in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late Roy C. and Gladys Staub* Beymer.

        He was a US Army veteran; a retired employee of Ormet Corporation; and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Moundsville. He coached little league baseball in Moundsville for many years and enjoyed playing golf.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Beymer Wade.

        Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandy Wallace Beymer; a brother, Richard L. (Peggy) Beymer of Woodsfield, Ohio, three grandchildren, Chad M. Wright, Farrah K. Wade, both of Proctor and William D. Wade of Moundsville; five great-grandchildren, Devlin A. Shields, Morgan M. Wright, Bryce N. Wright, Eric M. Wright and Seth N. Lilly; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dan Willis. Surviving are his mother and father, Barbara and Albert Owens of Bridgeport; a brother, David Biggs of Fly, Ohio; his maternal grandmother, Mary Willis of Bridgeport.

        He was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Lodi, Ohio, son of William and Hattie Johnson Bigley.

        He was preceded in death by his father, William Bigley; brothers, Leonard, Earl, Fred and Larry Bigley; and one sister, Carolyn Bigley Baker.

        He is survived by his wife, Carol Fowler Bigley of Wyandotte; mother, Hattie Bigley of Marietta; brother, Lester, of Boaz, W.Va.; sons, Wally of Topeka, Kan., and Raymond of Lodi, Ohio; daughters, Christina Hedding and Tammy Hilley, both of Weimar, Texas; and several stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

        He had lived in the Joplin, Mo., area for 20 years, moving to Wyandotte in 2001. He was an auto mechanic for the past 13 years and was owner of Bigley's Brake and Front End Alignment Service in Joplin until his retirement in 2001.

        He was a member of the Blendville Christian Church and Joplin Eagles Lodge 2410.

        Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 8, 2005) in Joplin, Mo., with Charles Gibson and Larry Richardson officiating.

        Barbara Mary (Myers) Binegar, 79, of Lower Eureka Lane, St. Marys, went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 11, 2005. She passed away after a brief illness at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

        She was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Marietta, a daughter of the late Elias and Edith O. Huggins Myers of St. Marys. She married Orvil Binegar on July 31, 1948.

        She enjoyed writing articles for the St. Marys Oracle in her column, "The Wonderful World of Pets," with pets being a large part of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the former St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Eureka, W.Va., a former member of the Grant Jefferson Lions Club and Lioness Club and was very active in her community.

        She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Orvil; two daughters, Sandy Wince and her husband, Terry, of St. Marys and Teresa Haines and her husband, Larry, of Nine Mile, W.Va.; several grandchildren, Amanda Johnson and her boyfriend, Brett Grimes, Adam Johnson and Christie Renee Smith Dilling and her husband, Greg, all of St. Marys; step grandchildren, Terra Wince of St. Marys, Andrea Wince, Chad and Missy Wince, all of Parkersburg, Benjamin Haines and Amy Fisher, both of Columbus, Ohio; step great-grandchildren, Emma and Sammy Haines of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Billy and Charles Myers; and one sister, Helen Stoneking.

He married Elinor Rose DeVine on August 3, 1956, and she passed away on November 17, 1999. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of the Hugo Sand Company in Kent, Ohio, where he worked as a
machine operator for 35 years. He also worked for Jefferson Material in Streetsboro, Ohio. He attended the Palmyra Methodist Church. He was a graduate from Stow High School in 1957.

Preceded in death by his wife, Elinor Binegar and daughter, Christine H. Brown, survivors include his loving friend, Nancy Neidherst of Diamond, Ohio; sons, Dean (Anita Kelley) Binegar of Paris Township., Ohio, and Gilbert (Debra) Binegar of Palmyra, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at the James Funeral Home (330-872-5440). Calling hours will be at the funeral home Thursday, July 7, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township, Ohio. ANTIOCH - Merle Otto Binegar, 78, of State Route 800, Antioch, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born July 20, 1927, at Newport, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence Willard Binegar and Carrie Viola Herlin Binegar. He was a retired employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation in Monroe County. He was an oil field owner/operator, fire chief of Antioch Fire Department, member of the Sportsmen Club in Antioch, Cub Scout leader, member of the Midway Senior Citizens Group, and a member of the United Baptist Church near Antioch.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Jean Holpp Binegar, on June 27, 2001; two brothers, Kenneth and Furl Binegar; and four sisters, Delores Thomas, Gertrude Congletan, Mona Sue Bond, and Patricia Lamp.

He is survived by three sons, Brian Allen Binegar and his wife, Sue, of Sardis, Fred Otto Binegar and his wife, Jacie, of Antioch, and Bruce Lee Binegar and his wife, Kim, of Sardis; three daughters, Lora Jean Powell and her husband, Donald, of Malaga, Pamela Kay Winland and her husband, Mitchell, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Nila Louise Heintzman and her husband, Joe, of Sistersville, West Virginia.; two brothers, Orville Binegar of Eureka, West Virginia, and Lyla Binegar and his wife, Sandra, of Saint Marys, West Virginia; two sisters, Phyllis Bowersock and her husband, Lawrence, of Bloomfield, and June Anita Wigal and her husband, Carrol, of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul Street, Woodsfield, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Reverend Frank Conley officiating. Interment will be in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery near Antioch.

        Hilda Bisich, 69, of Hopewell Township, passed away Friday, August 12, 2005, in her home.

        Born Jan. 11, 1936, in Newell, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Morris) Hutchinson.*  She was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Aliquippa, a Democratic Committee Woman and past president of the Monaca Football Mothers.

        Surviving are a devoted niece, Dorothy Baron, with whom she resided; a sister-in-law, Kay Zaremba, Aliquippa, and a great-nephew, Dan Baron, Hopewell Township, along with many other loving nieces and nephews.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Bisich in 2004; four brothers, Roy, Robert, James and William Hutchinson; two sisters, Evelyn and Elizabeth Hutchinson; four sisters-in-law, Anna Arbutina, Marge Bisich, Mildred Grgich and Stella Weld and three brothers-in-law, Ed, Pete and Mike Bisich.

        Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the WAYNE  N.  TATALOVICH  FUNERAL  HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held Monday at noon followed by an additional service at 12:30 p.m. in St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Aliquippa.

(Steel) Dillon.  Margaret was the last member and piano player for the former Stardusters Orchestra which performed locally for many years. She was also a member of the Musician's Union.

      In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert H. "Bob" Bonham, her daughter Barbara Regis, two brothers Ed and Jim Dillon, and two sisters Alice Jonard and Pearl Brindley.

      Surviving are her daughter Bobbie Tarantine and her husband Bob of Port Orange, FL, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and good friends, Ray and Sandy Liddle of Wheeling and their children Ray II, Scott, and Denise.

Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Belle died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Grant Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1954 in Barnesville Hospital, to Betty I. (Lendon) Matson, of Buckeye Lake and the late Henry M. Showalter.  Belle enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, yard sales and her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Gail Booth, of Newark, grandchildren, Scott, Austin and Sierra Belle Sterling; mother, Betty Matson of Buckeye Lake; sisters, Patricia  I. Showalter and Rita R. Dolan, both of Newark; brothers, James M. Kurtz, Jr. of Buckeye Lake, Jerome M. and Jeffrey M. Kurtz, both of Delaware; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; step-father, Jack Matson; her husband, Larry J. Booth, in October 1997; and a grandmother, Estelle Belle Schaub.

    BELPRE - Delores June Borman, 68, of Fourth Street, Belpre, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.  She was born June 29, 1937, in Marietta to George and Louise Robinson.  She had been a licensed practical nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital and was a very caring person with her time and labors. She was a member of Warren Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was first married to Alva Sarver, who preceded her in death. Two sons survive by this marriage, Thomas Sarver (Joni) of Watertown and Alvie John Sarver of Marietta; and five grandchildren, Todd Sarver, Briar Sarver, Aaron Sarver, Felicia Jackson and Gary Jackson.

    In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Robinson Jr.; and one sister, Patricia Wriston.

   On April 27, 1985, she was married to John Borman, who survives with sisters-in-law, Judy Hendrickson of Constitution, Mary Borman of Marietta and Rosalie Ayers of Woodsfield; and one brother-in-law, Richard Borman and his wife, Jeanette, of Marietta.

   One brother-in-law, Jerry Borman, and one sister-in-law, Patty Cooper, preceded her in death.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with interment in East Lawn Memorial Park. Starling E. Boston, 77 of Armstrongs Mills, Ohio died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire. He was born at Armstrongs Mills on May 10, 1927 a son of Lela VanDyne Boston and the late Paul Boston.  Starling was a retired employee of Conalco at Hannibal, Ohio, a member of the Armstrongs Mills United Methodist Church, the American Legion at Lowell, Ohio, the Eagles Aerie at Beverly, Ohio, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.  He was preceded in death by his father Paul and a step granddaughter, Stacy Juzwiak.

        Paul Boubary, Sr., age 73, of East Burgess St., Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Knox Community Hospital.

        He was born on January 8, 1932 in Richland County to the late George and Edna (Hickock) Boubary. Paul retired from the Quaker Oat Company, where he was a driver, in 1982, was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, a life member of the VFW Post# 4027, and was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1955.

        He is survived by his wife, of 20 years, Evelyn A. (Morris) Boubary; a step-son James (Cindy) Sweet of Mt. Vernon; three step-daughters Karen (Tom) Fowler of Mt. Vernon, Kandy (William) Golden of Mt. Vernon, Roberta (Russ) Day of Mt. Gilead; two granddaughters, four step-grandsons, five step-granddaughters, five step-great grandsons, two step-great granddaughters; and a brother Christ Boubary of Mansfield. Paul was preceded in death by his first wife Jeannine Jones Boubary, his son Paul Baubary, Jr.; two brothers Arthur and Frank Boubary, a sister Helen Johnson and step-father Ross Alfrey.

        There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 beginning at 2PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

        Paul Eugene Bower, 78, passed away at his home in Mission, KS, on October 30, 2005.  He was born July 7, 1927, in Bethel, MO.  He was the son of Martha Mona and Theodore Albert Bower.  He graduated from Shelbina High School in Shelbina, MO.  Paul was a World War II veteran, having served in China in the U.S. Navy.  He received a BS degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri in Columbia, in 1951.

        Paul had a career in engineering sales which led to founding his own company, Paul Bower and Associates, in Mission, KS.  He retired in 1996 and began traveling extensively with his wife, Tina.  He was an avid golfer and volunteered as a marshall at Tomahawk Golf Course where he had many friends.  Paul was a dedicated volunteer at Village Presbyterian Church giving many hours to the computer ministries, Stephen ministries, the Village pantry, and many other areas.

        Paul and Tina had recently celebrated 60 years of loving marriage.  He was a dedicated and devoted husband and father.  Paul was most happy when spending time with family and close friends.

        Survivors are his wife, Clastine (Tina) Rogers Bower; a brother, Robert L. Bower, of Rock Island, IL; a sister, Genevieve Madden of Springfield, MO; two daughters; Julie Seitter of Olathe, KS, and Janet Butcher and her husband, John, of Shawnee, KS.  He was predeceased by his brother, James T. Bower, of Quincy, IL.

        Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 3, at Village Presbyterian Church.  Private burial in Mt. Moriah.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Village Presbyterian Church  Food Pantry or Village Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

"Chris" and Anna A. Stidd Boyd. George was a retired employee of the Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Corporation Benwood Mill, a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples
of Christ in Shadyside and a United States Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Earl, Ben, Charles and Fred Boyd. Surviving are his wife, Carol Klingensmith Boyd, one daughter, Tara Ann Boyd of Shadyside; four stepchildren: Jeffrey Morelli of Manchester, New Hampshire, Jeannie Fankhauser of Shadyside, Cindy Pramik of Bellaire and T.         Jeremy Todd Boyd, 20, of Bye Road, formerly of East Liverpool, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

        Born in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., Aug. 5, 1984, son of Ronald E. Boyd III of East Palestine and Annette Kelly Boyd of New Cumberland, he was a member of the Church of the Apostle & Prophet Ministry in Rogers.

        A lifelong resident of the area, he worked at Envelope 1 in Columbiana as a machine adjuster.

        He enjoyed playing music.

        In addition to his parents; a sister, Emily G. Boyd of East Palestine; and three brothers, Caleb W. Boyd and his wife Tia of East Liverpool, Neil P. Boyd of East Palestine and Dakota Warren of New Cumberland, survive as well.

        His paternal grandparents, Pastor Ronald E. Boyd Jr. and Sena M. Boyd of Dunbar, Pa., survive along with his maternal grandmother, Nancy Kelly of East Liverpool.

        There is a niece, Caley Boyd, and a nephew, Anakin Boyd.

        His paternal great-grandmother, Rose E. Boyd of Florida, and his paternal great-grandfather, Richard Thompson of East Liverpool, also survive.

        His stepmother, Patricia Boyd of East Palestine, also survives.

        A daughter, Jordan Boyd, preceded him in death.

Braverman, Rita Ann Braverman nee Steele

Rita Ann Steele Braverman, 59, lost her battle with cancer and went to her Lord May 14, 2005.  A celebration of the life of Rita will be Thursday, May 19 at 10:30 A.M .at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Clifford  and  Helen Skillern officiating.  Following the service, a reception for family and friends will be held at the church.  Cremation has taken place. 

Beloved wife of Bernard Braverman and daughter of the late Glenn and Mabel Steele, Rita was born July 29, 1945 in Woodsfield, Ohio. Self employed in the wholesale furniture industry, Rita was president of Barrington-Steele.  As a member of Alpharetta Presbyterian church, Rita had served as a deacon, was a member of Esther Circle and was working on the interior design of the foyer in the new church building. She is survived by her husband, Bernie, two step-daughters, Cary Sparks of Mill Valley, CA and Alice Braverman Kafer, Seattle, WA; her sisters, Mrs. Norma Eells, of St. Clairsville, OH, Mrs. Glenna Joy Graham of Wooster, OH, and Jan Pember of Beaumont, TX; her brothers-in-law, Gary Graham and John Pember. 

She leaves behind two grandchildren, Bryn Sparks and Finnley Wren Kafir; five nieces, Tamara, Gina, Julie, Jodi and three nephews, Mark, Gary Glenn and Craig; three great nieces and three great nephews; numerous cousins and a host of dear friends.   A memorial service will be held July 29 in Woodsfield for her family and friends in Ohio. Richard (Gene) E. Briggs, 56, of West Lafayette, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in North Carolina, as a result of a boating accident.  He was born Sept. 28, 1949, in Monroe County, a son of Mrs. Dorothy Piatt Briggs Crossley of Norwich, and the late Wilbur Briggs. Richard was a graduate of John Glenn High School and the Muskingum Area Technical College. He was employed at Jones Metal of West Lafayette, a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge, both of Coshocton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing cards. He was a very loved man and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother, Dorothy Piatt Briggs Crossley of Norwich, he is survived by a sister, Joyce (Mike) Riffle of Norwich; dearest friend and companion, Dixie Spinks of West Lafayette; stepson, Steve Bailey of Plainfield; foster son, Tracy (Pam) Orr of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, Alice (Tom) Crosland of Norwich, and Kayla (Cory) Roach of Norwich; three stepbrothers, Frank (Penny) Crossley Jr. of West Lafayette, Larry (Wanda) Crossley of Coshocton, and Doug Crossley of Coshocton; granddaughter, Courtney Orr; great-nephew, Tyler Roach; aunt, Mary Nalley of Woodsfield; and two uncles, Paul and Archie Piatt of Lewisville.

NEWPORT - Charles Paul Brookover, 75, of Washington County 9, Newport, died at 4:47 a.m. Saturday (July 16, 2005) in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following an illness. He was born July 17, 1929, in Williamstown a son of the late Brady and Esky Brookover. He had been employed as a driver for Gabbert Trucking Company and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Deucher Baptist Church.

In 1948, he married Betty Jean Groves, who survives with three sons and one daughter, Danny Brookover and Ellen, David Roy Brookover, Linda Marie Beaver and Randy, all of Newport, and Paul Eugene Brookover of Powhatan Point, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Brookover of Williamstown; one sister, Clara Greathouse of Williamstown; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Brookover.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Deucher Baptist Church with Pastor Ivan Smitley officiating. Interment will be in the Newport Cemetery. Friends may call at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from noon today until Tuesday morning, and at the church for one hour prior to the service.

     David Lee Brown, 70, resident of Reader, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville.  He was born March 13, 1935 in New Martinsville, the son of Erma R. Brown and the late Earl D. Brown.  He was a retired operator from Consolidated Aluminum in Hannibal, Ohio.  He was a member of the Reader Church of Christ, the Short Line Lions Club, Safety Chairman for the USWA Local 5760 and a veteran of the United Satates Air Force.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Earl D. Brown.
     Surviving are his mother, Erma R. Brown, Mary Katherine, 79 of Glencoe Rd., Jacobsurg died Friday, December 16, 2005 at Wheeling Hospital. She was born September 14, 1926 in Elm Grove.

A daughter of the late Roscoe Pelkey and Mary Forshey Pelkey. She was a retired cook from the Hudson and Clarendon restaurants in St. Clairsville and a Lutheran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Charles Pelkey; a sister, Margaret Johnson.

Surviving are her husband, George M. Brown; daughters, Mary Jean Thornton of Neffs, Betty Ann Knight of Piedmont, and Sarah Louise Richards of St. Clairsville; a sister, Helen Hitchings of Belmont; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

        Services for Robert Christopher "Bobby" Brown, 47, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Arnaud officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

        Visiting hours will be observed today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Acadian Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Friday at 9 a.m. until the time of service.

        A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Brown died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Dauterive Hospital. Robert was employed as sandblasting paint foreman at C F & S. He loved fishing and being outdoors and spending time with his family.

        He is survived by his wife, Melanie Brown; children, Alyssa, Bobbi, Quintin, Zachary and Joshua Brown and Cody Delahoussaye; two sisters, Linda Brown Pourciau and Dawn Bourque and husband Allen; a brother, Gary Brown; 14 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

        Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cronin and Rosemary Gary Brown; and a brother, Charles Daniel Brown.

        Pallbearers will be Chad Pourciau, Shawn Pourciau, Christopher Veazey, Gene Broussard, Joey Vincent and Kirk Castille.

        She was born March 3, 1935, in Yankeeburg, Ohio, a daughter of the late Emery and Golda Jackson Wise. She was a homemaker and a member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob Butler; two sons, Gary and his wife, Mary Butler, of Parkersburg and Jon and his wife, Sue Butler, of Shreveport, La.; a daughter, Donna Venham of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Goldie, Mark and Shawn Butler and Ryan Chandler; and five great-grandchildren.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Treadway, and a brother, Edsel Wise.

Butts, Robert H. "Tom", 71, of Beallsville (Ozark) died Thursday, Nov. 24 in OSU Hospital, Columbus. He was born Nov. 22, 1934 in Benwood, W.Va., a son of the late Marcella Speece Truax.  He was a member of the Ozark Church of Christ, a US Army veteran, and a retired employee of the former Conalco, Hannibal. Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; a friend to all, always helping others.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John F. Truax and a brother, William Butts.

She was born on Wednesday, Feburary 12, 1919, in Monroe County, the daughter of Clement and Rebecca J. Stephens Burkhart. She was a homemaker, a loving, caring, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, the Saint John's Auxillary at Saint Nicholas Church, the Pleasant Growers Gardening Club,the Pleasant Evening Social Group, Ladies Auxillary Knights of  Columbus Council 505 and the Ladies Auxillary Eagles.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda L. Carmichael and Connie Jo Wilson and her fiancé Lonnie Moore, both of Zanesville; one son, Stanley W. Carpenter and wife Rose Mary of Howell, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Doug Geyer, Daffney Geyer, Kelly Lewis, Kent Carpenter, Rene Lengnick, Kem Wilson and Travis Wilson; nine great-grandchildren, Wesley Geyer, Andrew Geyer, Madison Geyer, Monica Lewis, Darren Lewis, Brady "Little Willie" Wilson, Emily Wilson, Georgi Wilson, and Hannah "Little Audrey" Wilson; and three sisters, Lillian Mercer of Barnesville, Edna Tepley of East Lake, and Luzelda Stephens of Saint Clairsville.

           Elizabeth "Lizzie" Carpenter, 96, Beallsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005 in the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1908 near Woodsfield, a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Arminta Jeffers Hopton.            She was a homemaker and a retired farmer. Lizzie was a member of the East Sunsbury Baptist Church near Beallsville for almost 50 years.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frantz, in 1990, also a brother, Homer Hopton and a sister, Nina Eberle.

           Surviving are a son, Donald (Margie) Carpenter of Dalton and a daughter, Lola (Floyd) Lucido of Beallsville; a brother, Chester Hopton of Monahans, Texas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-

grandchildren.

        BARNESVILLE---James P. Carpenter, 78, of Barnesville, died Saturday (May 21, 2005) at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

         He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Noble County, son of the late Calvin and Pearl (Starr) Carpenter.

         Mr. Carpenter was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired auto body repairman.

         He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, VFW Post 2792 and Batesville Legion.

         He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wes and Ellis Carpenter; and three sisters, Norma Lee Stephens, Eleanor Carpenter and Edith Stephens.

         He leaves two sons, Bruce (Donna) Carpenter of Calais and Kim Carpenter of Barnesville; a daughter, Brenda Carpenter of Canal Winchester; a brother, Lawrence Carpenter of Lebanon, Pa.; a sister, Lucille Huntsman of Barnesville; and three grandchildren.

         Friends may call from 2 to 4 Wednesday at Campbell-Plumly-Wilburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where military services will follow at 4 P.M. under the direction of Belmont County Council of VFW. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

        Mr. Carpenter was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Naples, Texas.

        Survivors include his wife, Deborah Carpenter of Marietta; two sons, Jim Milam of Longview, Texas, and J.R. Blankenship of Sunnyvale, Texas; two daughters, Shae Bogue of Marshall, Texas, and Dawn Boyd of Omaha, Texas; his mother, Mary Phillips of Daingerfield, Texas; one brother, J.D. Carpenter of Texarkana; four sisters, Sue Smith of Lone Star, Texas, and Paulett Dalton, Brenda Yowell and Cynthia Mills of Texarkana; nine grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

        Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Pentecostal Church, Daingerfield, with the Revs. Carlton Watkins and Bobby Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Marietta, under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

        The body may be viewed today with visitation after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

        Judy A. McGrew Carpenter, 51, of Marietta, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 13, 2005) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

        She was born April 6, 1954, in Cleveland, a daughter of the late Ralph and Betty Radcliffe Carpenter.  She had grown up in Parkersburg and was a graduate of Parkersburg High School.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a member of the Auxiliary of Post 5108 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

        She was married to Dale McGrew.  She is survived by one daughter, Martha* Dale McGrew of Marietta; and two grandchildren, Lexie Johnson and Jade Walters.  She is also survived by one brother, Charles Carpenter and his friend, Carla King, of Columbus; two sisters, Ricki Trembley of Parkersburg and Ben, and Penny Givens of Williamstown and her friend, Jeff.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

        Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with interment at Lower Paw Paw Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Friday until the time of the service.  The family will be present to meet friends on Friday afternoon and evening and on Saturday until the hour of the services.

           CARPENTER, Paul V., 73, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Bellaire, Ohio, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 in Columbus.

Paul was born April 27, 1931 in Monroe County, a son of the late Milroy and Victoria Carpenter.

          He was a retired employee with 30 years service at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Martins Ferry Plant. He was a member of South Bellaire United Methodist Church; an avid Bellaire Big Reds fan; and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Dalrymple Carpenter in 1991; and a brother, Bernard Carpenter.

          Surviving are two sons, Paul (Beth) Carpenter Jr. of Bellaire and Ken (Suzanne) Carpenter of Columbus; a daughter, Paula (Victor) Arango of Florida; and six grandchildren, Brian Carpenter, Cody and Logan Carpenter, Jake, Alex and Alina Arango.

          Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 Thirty-seventh Street, Bellaire, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 with the Rev.         Waldo Carpenter 84, Plainfield, passed away January 14, 2005. He was born July 19, 1920 in Rockport, IN to the late Edward and Anna (Gatchel) Carpenter. He was a diesel mechanic for over 25 years retiring from McLean Trucking in 1980. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #135, and the First Baptist Church in Plainfield. He served in the US Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart.      

        Waldo is survived by his wife, Laura May (Wright) Carpenter; son, Calvin and his wife Kay Carpenter; step-daughter, Rochelle Henson; brother, Lawrence "Jum" Carpenter; half-brother, Parvin Carpenter; two

grandsons, Jason and his wife Heather Carpenter, and Jake Carpenter; three step-grandchildren, Teresa Christman, Daryl Henson and Leanne Sewell; three great step-grandchildren, Eddie and Donna Henson, and Scooter Christman.

        He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Lloyd) Carpenter; two sons, Waldo Lloyd and Robert Allen Carpenter; and a step-daughter, Pearl Ann Sewell.

          Belva Leora (Butler) Castello, passed away at her home 224 Henderson Street on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. She was born on November 4, 1912 in Belmont County near Dog Hollow, daughter of the late Henry and Martha Angeline (Bunting) Butler.

          She was married July 2, 1936 to Dempsey Orville Castello who preceded her in death on May 25, 1959. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Zelma Baker and Alice Mae Chance; two brothers, James and Herbert Butler; two sons, Edward and Paul Castello and a granddaughter, Melodie Wrobel.

          Surviving are three sisters, Hazel (Homer) Pack of Uniontown, Ohio; Mary (Larry) Bowman of Akron, Ohio and Beulah Barker of Atwater, Ohio; one brother, Herman Butler of Akron, Ohio; three daughters, Maxine Mayhugh and Martha (Charles) Sells, both of Barnesville and Shirley (Ben) Zak of Johnstown, Ohio; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren, Sierra, Bryce and Bradley Wyeth.

          She spent most of her life in the Barnesville area and was a widow for 46 years. She babysat for many Barnesville area families and worked for the Rinehart Family and Lotus Glass Factory as a young woman.

          Belva was a member of the East Main Street Church of Christ for many long years.

         She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Barnesville for over 50 years where she served as Chaplain. She enjoyed bowling, family pictures and her family. She went sled riding in 2001, at the age of 89. She possessed a very energetic body for her age, until the last year of her life, passing away just after her 93rd birthday. She will be sadly missed by all.

          Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.

          Visitation was held Friday, December 16, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where services were held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. with Evangelists M. Gale Yoho and Ev. Jeff Wyeth officiating. Burial followed in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.

        She was welcomed into Heaven by her first husband, George Hillard and second husband, Joseph Chance, her mother, Angeline and Henry Butler; father, Nicholas Jewel; brothers, Herbert and Jim Butler; sister, Zelma Baker and grandson, Mark Hillard.

        Surviving are two sons, Mansel Hillard of Zanesville and Bob Ewing of Barnesville; two daughters, Mary Thompson of Tallmadge and Betty VanDyne of Beallsville; several stepdaughters and stepsons; brother, John Butler of Akron; four sisters: Belva Castelo of Barnesville, Hazel Pack, Mary Bowman and Beulah Barker of Akron; seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, a host of friends and relatives.

       Philip W. Christman, 62, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2005 at his residence.

       He was born in Monroe County, Oh., September 5, 1942, the son of Philip and Katherine (Herbert) Christman and had lived in Westerville for a number of years before moving to Middletown. He retired from Middletown Federal Savings & Loan. Mr. Christman was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners of Columbus; was active with Ducks Unlimited; and had served on the Board of Arts in Middletown. He and his wife, Judy, had previously Chaired the Middletown Charity Ball.

        He is survived by his son, Erik (wife, Holli) of Mason, Oh.; grandson, Jackson; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn; a brother, Jerry Christman of Staten Island, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Jim Fought of Delaware, Oh. His wife Judith K. Christman, preceded him in death in 1997.

        Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Monday, January 17 at the BREITENBACH-McCOY-LEFFLER FUNERAL HOME, Middletown. He was a Monroe County commissioner for 12 years and served on the Monroe County Planning Committee, Farm Bureau Public Affairs Board, Monroe County Clinic Board, Monroe County Board of Health, Monroe County Fair Board, Malaga Township School Board, Beallsville School Board, Coop Dairy Barnesville, Belmont Electric, Buckeye Hills RC&D, St. Paul’s Church of Christ Board and was a trustee at Middle Church Cemetery.

           He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Geldmacher Christman, in

April 1998; a son, Willis Christman; a grandson, Todd Christman; two sisters; and three brothers.

        He was a retired employee of PPG Industries of Natrium, W.Va.; a member of the Bridge Street Church of Christ of New Martinsville; a decorated World War II US Army veteran; a member of Wetzel Lodge No. 39 A.F & A.M. of New Martinsville; American Legion Post No. 86 of Paden City; and a member of Martha Washington OES Chapter No. 22 of Sistersville.

        Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Iva V. Clark; daughter, Sondra Campbell and her husband, Oscar, all of Sarasota; two grandsons, Aaron C. Campbell of Lakeland, Fla. and Chad E. Campbell of Parrish, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Millersburg -- Gail E. Cline, 67, of Millersburg died Saturday evening, July 2, 2005, at his home following a period of declining health.  He was born April 24, 1938, in Brownsville and was the son of Gail M. and Naomi Patterson Cline. On Aug 20, 1960, he married Janet Kline, and she survives.

He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, was a life member of Killbuck VFW and Post Commander of the AMVETS Post 223 of Millersburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children and their spouses, Tony and Charlotte of Millersburg and Shelly and Steve Guzzo of Palm Harbor, Fla., seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Daryl Cline of Glenmont; and seven sisters, Kathryn Yoder of Millersburg, Madelyn Boals of Loudonville, Nancy Zurakowski of Wooster, Mary Raber of Brinkhaven, Florence Miller of Killbuck and Debbie Slonaker of Kentucky.

A son, Tim Cline and two sisters, Shirley Purdy and Evelyn Foster died previously.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Community Bible Church, County road 314, Millersburg, with the Rev. Dan DeHass officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today, July 5 2005 at Community Bible Church.  Arrangements are being completed by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.

WOODSFIELD - Rosalie Jane Cline, 66, 38000 Wolf Penn Road, Woodsfield and formerly of the Ashalnd Area,died 8:25 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilition Center Woodsfield.

She was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Paden City, W.Va., the daughter of Dorothy Mikes Paden of New Martinsville,W.Va. who survives and Ralph Paden. She was a homemaker and an associate of Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, and Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, Summerfield. She also was a member of Richfork Church of Christ near Woodsfield. In addition to her mother she is survived by three daughters , Lisa (Dan) Robertson of Lewisville, Joy (Bruce) Watters of Woodsfield   and Jan (Tommy)   Lemon of Holmesville;  three sisters , Barbara Probst, Joyce Wise and Linda Price, all of  New Martinsville,W.Va.; and five grandchildren.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Cline Jan. 25, 2004. Services took place Tuesday March 22, 2005. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield. Watters Funeral Home in Woodsfield handled the arrangements.

        She is survived by her son, Thomas Richard (Jean) Marteney of Minerva; daughter, Audrey Faye (Rick) Smith of Carrollton; son, William Lee Marteney of Minerva, Neil Robert "Squeak" Marteney of Minerva; stepson, Charles Richard (Barb) Marteney of Creston, OH; stepdaughters, Bonnie Audrey (Tom) Tarelton of Applecreek, Wanda Faye (Pat) Sheridan of Athens, OH; brother, Donald "Pete" Wilson of Donald, SC., Ellen "Tootie" Mohn of Minerva; brother, Walter "Butch" Wilson of Minerva; sister, Karen Vlad of Minerva; brother, Warren "Perk" Wilson of Minerva; sister, Susan Jean Wilson of Minerva; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Ann Marteney and granddaughter, Loretta Lynn Long.

        Mrs. Vivian Carmon Cline died on Monday, January 3, 2005, at Birchaven Retirement Center, Findlay, Ohio.

        Vivian was born June 6, 1910 in Lewisville, Monroe County, Ohio, to Charles Wesley and Lorena (Buchanan) Young. She was married to George W. Cline on October 30, 1932.

        Surviving are one son, Myron C. (Yolanda) of Findlay; two grandchildren, Gregg (Karen), of Findlay; and Julia Justis, of Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia; and four great grandchildren, Diane and Emily Cline and Melanie and David Justis.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George in 1970 and her brother Mansel Young in 1954.

        Vivian was a life long resident of the southern Ohio Village of Lewisville, where she was a member of the Buchanan Presbyterian Church, founded by her Great Great Grandfather William Buchanan in 1826. She was a homemaker who lived a life of service devoted to her family, her church and her community.

        Visitation for Vivian will be at Bauer and Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio on Thursday evening, January 6 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

        Funeral services will be held on Friday January 7, 2005 at the Buchanan Presbyterian Church, Lewisville, Ohio.

        Internment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

        NEWPORT--Doris L. Close, 87, of Close Road, Newport, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005) at the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

        She was born Feb. 27, 1918, at Eight Mile, Lower Newport, the daughter of Jacob P. and Effie M. Herlan Close.  She spent her entire life in the Eight Mile and Lower Newport area.

        She had later owned a restaurant in Marietta and was a seamstress and quilt maker.  She loved animals and nature.

        She is survived by her adopted family, Dan and Susie Strickler of Harrisville, W.Va., who were her caregivers.  She is also survived by several cousins.

        Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Lauderman officiating.  Interment will be in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday morning until the hour of the service.

        COLEMAN, Charles Grant, 85, of Wheeling Island, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Peterson Hospital.

        Born in Wheeling WV on December 28, 1919, Charles was the son of the late Charles B. and Eugenia Geimer Coleman. A former member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and a current member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, Mr. Coleman was a retired employee of Boury Inc. and a Army veteran of WWII.

        He was a charter member and served on the Board of Directors of the Wheeling Island Lions Club, a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #83 and a member of the Pride of the Valley Barbershop Chorus.

        In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Reed, his brothers, Theodore R. Coleman and Frank K. Coleman and his sister, Betty Jane Ranney.

        Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Helen I. Harrison Coleman; two daughters, Crystal Jennings and Carlyn Smith both of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Charles Reed and his wife Melanie of Bellaire OH, Kurt Reed and his wife Kimberly of Colrain OH, and Bridget Jennings Hoyng and her husband Robert of New Carlisle OH ; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents, Marvis was preceded in death by her husband Paul E. Colvin in 1981, a son Dennis G. Colvin in 1994, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Colvin, four brothers and four sisters and a granddaughter Kim Woodward.
    Surviving are two children, Paul M. of Naples, Fla. and Susie Gilbert of Wheeling; a sister, Donch Gorby of Brownsville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Karen Colvin of Bellaire; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was born June 4, 1938, in Coalton, W.Va., a son of the late Lawrence Denzel and Huldah Mae Kelley Corrik. He was a retired employee of PPG Industries, Cleveland and North American Coal Corporation #1 Mine at Powhatan Point, a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Powhatan Point and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Wilson Corrick ; two sons, Eric Corrick and his friend Keeley Gacek, St. Clairsville; Chad Corrick, Beallsville; two grandchildren, Kourtney and Wyatt Corrick, Belmont; two sisters, Martha Corrick and Ida Bellville, both of Powhatan Point; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Katie Stewart; two brothers, Lawrence, Jr., and Paul Corrick.

        Cox, Roy S., 81 of Sistersville, died February 17th, 2005 at Wetzel County Hospital.

        He was born February 10th, 1924, in Pleasent County, to the late Isaac and Amy Scadden Cox. He was retired from Wismach Glass company, Paden City.

        He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn S. Owens of New Martinsville, and Carolyn Lou Parsons of Friendly; grandchildren Davd (Lisa) Northcraft, Brenda (Harold) Gallaher, Michael (April) Northcraft, and Debra (Ron) Harmon; seven great grandchildren; and a niece Ruth Ann McPeek of Pennsboro, WV.

        He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents by his wife, Mable Ruth Cox, and three sisters.

        Memorial services will be held February 25th at 11 AM at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, Rev. Gary Bond officiating.       

        His body was donated to the Human Gift Registry, Morgantown, WV.

Captain Thomas Jarvis Cramer, 92, of 515 West Third Street, Williamstown, West Virginia, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday (July 2, 2005) at his residence.He was born December 16, 1912, in Clarington, Ohio, to Herbert E. and Mary Grace Davis Cramer. He was a member of Williamstown First Presbyterian Church. A riverboat Captain/pilot, he was employed by Ohio Barge Line from April 14, 1947, through January 31, 1975; he retired in 1975. He attended Ohio Wesleyan and Ohio State University. He was a 70-year member of Williamstown Lodge 129, AF&AM; and had served on Williamstown City Council from June 1975 through June 1979. He was a member of Sons & Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Zinser Cramer of Williamstown, whom he married on Jan.uary 11, 1944; three sons, Thomas Lee Cramer and his wife, Linda, of Fleming, Ohio, Father Harry Nye Cramer of Bridgeport, West Virginia., and Herbert Jan Cramer and his wife, Kimberly, of Orlando, Florida.; three daughters, Donna Kay Politano and her husband, Doctor Victor A., of Kissimmee, Florida, Martha Ann Bledsoe and her husband, David F., of Culloden, West Virginia, and Tamara Sue Ragalyi and her husband, Terry W., of Hurricane, West Virginia.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marion Grace Bassler of Linn, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (July 5, 2005) at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, at 1021 Pike Street, with the Reverend Kenneth Calebaugh and Father Harry Cramer officiating.           John Grover Crawford, age 67 of Parral, died early Saturday morning, February 19, 2005, in Union Hospital at Dover. For the last six years, Mr. Crawford bravely battled lymphoma.  Born in Noble County, Ohio, November 19, 1937, he was a son of Juanita Mae Bunting Crawford of Newcomerstown, OH and the late Raymond B. Crawford.  John was a 1956 graduate of Batesville High School in Noble County, and worked at various places before illness necessitated his retirement from Wayne-Dalton of Mt. Hope.  John loved to travel in his camper. He and his wife would stay in K.O.A. campgrounds from coast to coast. In 2002, he and his wife made a memorable trip to Hawaii.

          Friends and neighbors will remember Mr. Crawford for his careful restoration of two classic pickup trucks; a 1952 and a 1932-both Fords. Most of all, John loved his family, and always looked forward to spending time at cookouts and holiday events. John regularly attended swap meets.

          Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, the former Clara Regina Morris. Together, they raised a family that includes two daughters; Cynthia (Dennis) Colvin of Uhrichsville, and Lisa (Jim) Rothacher of Dover, two sons; Daniel Crawford and Michael Crawford, both of Dover.

          He’ll be sadly missed by nine grandchildren; Regina Swauger, Lee Swauger, Chrystal Bayang, John R. Crawford, Jesse James Rothacher, Kaci Rothacher, Tyler Crawford, Karley Crawford, and Houston Crawford, a great-grandchild Makayla Contrael; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Ryan of Newcomerstown.

          In addition to his father, Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kinnith Lee Crawford.

          Private family services were held Sunday evening in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Local cremation is under the care and direction of Geib’s North Dover Crematory. There are no public calling hours.

John "Johnny" Robert Creighton Jr., 50, of 514 Third Street, New Matamoras, went to be with the Lord at 8 a.m. Monday (July 11, 2005).  He was born April 26, 1955, in New Matamoras, a son of John Robert and Patricia J. Locke Creighton Sr. He attended Matamoras Baptist Church, and was a self-employed laborer in the oil fields. He graduated from Frontier High School in 1973 and was a member of the Sons of the Legion Post 378, New Matamoras.

He is survived by his two sons, John Paul Creighton and Cody Keene, both of New Matamoras; one daughter, Tammy Wilfong of Marietta; one granddaughter, Naveah; his mother, Patricia Creighton of New Matamoras; two sisters, Teresa Swan and her husband, Mike, of New Matamoras, and Tammy Powell and her husband, Dave, of Saint Marys, West Virginia.; five nieces, Sara and Shana Swan of New Matamoras and Brittany, Lindsey, and Lydia Powell of Saint Marys, West Virginia.; and a special friend, Melody Keene of New Matamoras.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Creighton Sr., who died Dec. 28, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (July 15) at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Chapel, with Rick Smith officiating. Cremation will follow the service.         SALISBURY, N.C. -- Garland R. Cronin, 89, formerly of Poland, died Monday evening at her son's residence.

        She was born June 12, 1916 in Pleasant City, a daughter of Carl E. and Mary Ellen Mathias Hoy, and came to the Youngstown area in 1952.

        Mrs. Cronin was a 1933 East Liverpool High School graduate and a homemaker.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and volunteered at the Southside Hospital Guild.

        Her husband, Donald K. Cronin, whom she married Aug. 7, 1934, died Nov. 12, 2001.

        She leaves a daughter, Mary Ellen Cronin of Boardman; a son, Donald C. Cronin of Salisbury; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

        Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Jane Marie Hamill.

        Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel. where there will be funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday.

     Ralph A. Cronin, age 91, of DuPont City, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Charleston Memorial Division CAMC after a short illness.

     Mr. Cronin was a retired chemical operator for E.I. DuPont Chemical Company, Belle. He was a veteran of World War II, and was a native of Ritchie County; he had lived in the Belle area the past 60 years.

     He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pauline Caldwell Cronin, infant son, William Ralph Cronin, brother, Brady E. Cronin, and a sister, Vivian Fleming.

     Surviving him are his son, David W. Cronin, of DuPont City; daughter, Stella Callison, of Hillsboro; brothers, Clifford Cronin and Wayne Cronin, both of St. Marys, and Keith Cronin, of Harrisville; sisters, Hilda Cronin and Marnella Nichols, both of St. Marys, and Nadine Hatfield, of Smithville; and two grandchildren.

         She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. She graduated from Mississinewa High School while fighting her life-long battle with a brain tumor.

        She enjoyed playing games with all the young children in her family, telling jokes, watching movies and old-time sitcoms.

Gary was born February 22, 1940 in Kenwood, Ohio, a son of the late Bland and Bessie Dowdle Cunningham. He was retired from Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Company of Shadyside, Ohio, a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church, Shadyside, Ohio, American Legion Post 521, Shadyside, Ohio and Laborers International Union Local 1149 of Wheeling, West Virginia  and a Marine Corps Veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Jean Stanovich Cunningham; a son, Gary (Susan) Cunningham, Jr. and their daughter, Jenna Rose, of Saint Clairsville, Ohio; two daughters, Lori (Kerry) Owens and their children, Sarah, Abby, and Jacob of Grove City, Ohio and Melissa (James) Barton and their daughter, Maddie of Shadyside, Ohio; two brothers, Sonny (Judy) Cunningham of Cadiz, Ohio and Richard (Sandie) Cunningham of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Patty Pastor and her companion, Rich Burton of Cadiz, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

        P.E. "Buzz" Cunningham, 81, of Belmont, W. Va., died May 31, 2005, at the Arbors at Marietta.

        He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Pleasants County, W.Va., a son of the late Thomas E. and Elva Boley Cunningham. He was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union of New Martinsville and St. Marys and also managed his large farm on French Creek. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and a life long student of world and current events.

        He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Grace Cronin Cunningham; two sons, Wayne B. Cunningham and his wife, Emma, of St. Marys and Thomas Gary Cunningham and his wife, Lynn, of Washington, W. Va. one daughter, Barbara Dennett of Virginia and West Virginia; four grandchildren, Angela Baxter and Christopher, Brooke and Zack Cunningham; and five great-grandchildren.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, James, Archie and Burl "Pete" Cunningham; and one sister, Roxie Cronin.

        Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. Arthur Cox officiating.  Burial will be in the Cronin Cemetery, Pleasants County.  Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

        EAST  LIVERPOOL - Harry N. Dawson, 81, of Holliday Street, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at home suddenly.

Born in East Liverpool, Sept. 23, 1923, he was a son of the late Harry N. Dawson Sr. and Mary Hanlon Dawson.

        A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1941, he earned his degree in accounting from Youngstown College in 1949.

        A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the American Legion Post #374.

        A resident of this area most of his life, he worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for 10 years and later operated his own accounting service in East Liverpool. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and attended St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Francis Runion Dawson, whom he married Nov. 16, 1943, as well as a brother, Dr. Joseph Dawson.

        Two daughters survive, Mrs. Darrell (Judy) Hall of Alexandria, Va. and Barbara Hurst of Jackson, Ga. There are two sisters, Dorothy E. Hall of East Liverpool and Rosemary Souturas of Colorado Springs, Colo.

        Five grandchildren survive, Meredith Page, Brenna Hessler, Stephanie Evans, Amber Wilson and Corey Hall, along with 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

        Friends may call Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard N. Gaeta as celebrant.

        Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.

        Mount Vernon---Beulah May Day, 96, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday (July 6, 2005) at Country Court Nursing Home.

        She resided in her home on Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon for more than 50 years. She was born in Cambridge on Nov. 9, 1908, and lived with her parents, Frank and Estey O'Neil Shackle on a farm near Summerfield, until her marriage to Kyle Day on Dec. 21, 1929. She was the eldest of four children.

         She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Carpenter Day in 1992; a brother, Ernest Shackle; a sister, Mary Evelyn Keller; a daughter, Leatha Ann Westenbarger; twin infant daughters, Leatha's twin brother, Lee Allen; and a grandson Scott Day.

         She leaves her youngest brother, Delbert Shackle and wife Lori of Summerfield; a sister-in-law, Leora Shackle of Caldwell.

         She is also survived by two sons, Donald (Alice) Day of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Glen (Jamie) Day of Gambier; and son-in-law Tom Westenbarger of Mount Vernon.

        Mrs. Day enjoyed life that saw many changes in the world. She went from riding a horse driving buggy, to driving a car and riding in an airplane. She loved gardening and canning all the things she grew. She still was doing these things into her 90's.

        She enjoyed her grandchildren and attended all of their special actives. She went to football, basketball, and baseball games, attended school plays and band concerts. In her 90's she went flying in a small plane piloted by her son. She went on family ski trips to Colorado and Vermont and camping trips to Florida. She also visited Ireland when she was 90 years-old. She enjoyed seeing the country of her ancestors. She was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.

        She will be missed by her grandchildren, Christopher Day of Columbus, Troy and Chrissi Westenbarger of Tarlton, Tonya and Shawn Spence of Kirkland, Mark Day of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul and Bonita Day of Marshalltown, Iowa, Jody and Mark Hofer and Julie and John Mogler, all of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brent and Jean Day of Mount Vernon. She will also be missed by 12 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Dale and David Shackle, and her special friend, Jeannette Shackle.

        Friends may call from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday at North Dilley Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, where services will follow at 11 A.M. with Phillip McMurrin, pastor of the Amity United Church.  Burial will be 2 P.M. at the cemetery in Summerfield.

Bruce Dean, age 50, of 34680 Cadiz Piedmont Road, Cadiz died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 Aultman Hospital after a short courageous battle with cancer.  Born February 4, 1955 in Canton, Stark County, Ohio, he was a son of Ervin and Wilma Holstein Dean of Piedmont. Bruce graduated in 1973 from Lakeland High School. He was a mine safety inspector for the Division of Natural Resources and was the Mine Safety Coordinator for the last several years. He taught Mine Rescue Training. He was also a judge for the Mine Rescue Meets in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. He was a jack-of-all trades and a self-taught electrician. He was also the Moorefield Pac Man Champion. He was a member of the Piedmont United Methodist Church and a past fire chief for the Moorefield Township Volunteer Fire Department. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon A. Luyster Dean. They were married on October 22, 1976. Also surviving are three children: Michael Dean of New Philadelphia, Lisa Dean who is stationed in Hawaii with the U.S. Marine Corps, and Dustin Dean of the home; a grandson: Jarod Dean of New Philadelphia; two brothers: Kenneth (Paula) Dean of Moorefield and Lenny (Sherry) Dean of Deersville; a sister: Debra (Don) Fox of California; his mother-in-law: Beverly Moore Luyster of Piedmont; four brother-in-laws: Dennis (Brenda) Luyster of Moorefield, Jerry Luyster of Freeport, Randy (Debbie) Luyster of Freeport, and Kim (Marilyn) Luyster of Moorefield; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wed., Aug. 24, in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S. High Street, Freeport. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., Aug. 25 in the funeral home with Pastor Jamie Thomas and Pastor Larry Holstein officiating. Following Bruce's wishes, his body will be cremated following the services. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Sat., Aug. 27 in Moorefield Cemetery.

Decker, Glenn , 90, of Beallsville, Ohio, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 in the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1915 near Beallsville, a son of the late John Alva and Carrie Louise Jeffers Decker.

He was a member of the Belmont Ridge Christian Church, an Army

veteran of World War II and a retired carpenter.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by five brothers, Argyle "Dick", Park, Forrest, Arby and Doyce; three sisters: Gladys Neiswonger, Edna Hamilton and Mary Haley.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Bea Cecil Decker; two daughters, Penny (Dwight) Lucas of Beallsville, and Diana Hypes of Reynoldsburg; two granddaughters: Debbie (Duane) Gehring and Brenda (Scott) Bondy; four great- grandchildren: Shawn, Matthew, Nathan and Shane.         Emma DeLay of Longmont died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Applewood Living Center. She was 74.

        She was born March 16, 1931, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Charles and Goldyn (Crookham) Botkin.

        Mrs. DeLay moved to Montana with her family as a baby. Her family eventually settled in the northeast area of the state. She graduated from Glasgow High School in Glasgow, Mont., in 1950.

        She married Burt DeLay on Nov. 25, 1950, in Glasgow.

        Mrs. DeLay was a farm and ranch business partner with her husband. She was also a homemaker and mother, and in later years was the activities director at Daniels Nursing Home in Scobey, Mont. She retired in 1993.

        She moved to Longmont from Scobey to be closer to her family in 2002.

        Mrs. DeLay was an active member of the Lutheran church in Scobey and of First Lutheran Church of Opheim. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, a member and volunteer for Valley Hospice of northeast Montana, a First Responder Emergency Medical Technician for Opheim and a volunteer for the Combined Campaign.

        She enjoyed oil painting, gardening and yard work, her grandchildren's activities, animals, spending time with her family and playing cards.

        Mrs. DeLay was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; a daughter, Debra Andersen in 1987; two brothers, John and Ched Botkin; and a sister, Mary Ator.

        She is survived by four sons, Kenneth DeLay and his wife Jan of Longmont, Robert DeLay and his wife Myrna of Littleton, Steve DeLay and his wife Catrina of Sacramento, Calif., and Mark DeLay and his wife Cheryl of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Kathy Solberg of Stillwater, Okla.; ten grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

        A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 13, 2006, at First Lutheran Church of Opheim, Mont. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.            She was born Nov. 24, 1918, near Calais, daughter of the late Ross and Alice Hayes Carpenter.

           Mrs. Delong was a homemaker and attended Calais Church, Calais, and also First Baptist Church, Caldwell.

           She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis Delong, on Nov. 13, 1976; a son, Sam Delong; three sisters, Melissa Carpenter, Eleanor Carpenter and Ildrith Coultas; four brothers, Raymond, Roger, Maywood and Burdette Carpenter; and a grandson, Jamey Hall.

           She leaves three daughters, Karola Housley of Caldwell, Becky Hall of Summerfield and Rhoda Carpenter of Lewisville; a son, Dan Delong of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

        DENNIS, Ellen G., 79, of New Martinsville, W.Va., departed this life Sunday, January 16, 2005 at her residence.

        She was born December 29, 1926 in Tyler County, the daughter of the late Wiley and Gladys Mercer Lancaster.

        Ellen was a retired employee of Fisher's Big Wheel, working from 1973-1989. She was a Christian by faith and attended the Paden City Church of the Nazarene, where she taught the children's primary class for twenty-six years. Ellen also served on several boards at the church during her life while able to attend.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Dennis on December 9, 2002; and a sister, Mary L. Durbin.

        She is survived by a son, Charles E. "Butch" Dennis and his wife, Sharon, of New Martinsville; a daughter, Carolyn Johnston and her husband, Bob, of Alma; two sisters, Opal Starkey of Paden City and Janet Cuventas of Rock Hill, S.C.; four grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Annette (Rusty) Wetzel and son, Spenser, of Sistersville, Ronda Dennis (Tim Bohrer) and son, Caleb, of Proctor, Rodney (Linda) Dennis and children, Shawna and Justin, of Friendly, and Steve (Cindy) Dennis of Sistersville; a brother-in-law, Walter Dennis of New Martinsville; two sisters-in-law, Edna Nething and Mae Richards of Ravenna, Ohio; and a very special beloved Yorkie, Cody.

        HOUSTON, Texas - Leonard Andrew "Andy" Dennis, 90, former resident of Marietta, passed away on Sunday (Feb. 13, 2005) in Houston, Texas.

        He was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Marietta to Charles and Gertrude Dennis. He was retired from Pattin Manufacturing Co. after 22 years, but his favorite job was working on ore boats on the Great Lakes. He was a member of the Moss Run Community Church. He enjoyed tinkering with engines and coaxing the oil from the ground.

        He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosettia; and his parents. He is survived by three sons, Charles, Wayne and Larry; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

        She was born Nov. 25, 1914 in Bellaire, the daughter of the late Charles and Carmella Magistro Caranna.

        Louise was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolfhurst.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Cifaldi; her second husband, Angelo DeCocco, and her third husband, Earl DeVault; and four sisters.

        Louise is survived by a daughter Claire Saunders; a brother Victor Caranna; a sister, Adeline Presutti; as well as four grandchildren. Also surviving are four great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dickson, Howard B. Jr., 82, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at his home. He was born May 27, 1922 in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of the late Howard B. Sr., and Vera M. Bonar Dickson.

Howard was a retired coal miner and machinist for the former North American Coal Corporation, a member of the Amity United Methodist Church at Steinersville, Ohio and a member of Moriah Lodge 105 F & AM Powhatan Point, Ohio.

 He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in both the European Theater of Operation and the Pacific Theater of Operation as an aerial engineer with over two thousand hours of flying time.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Dickson in 1982.

Surviving are his wife, Deloris Boughner Dickson; two children, Beth Ann Cunard and her husband, Donald, of Barnesville, Ohio and David H. Dietrich, Ralph W. "Penny", age 92, of Township Hwy. 231, Clarington, Ohio, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at home.

He was born August 18, 1913 in Clarington, the son of late Wesley and Ida

Dye Dietrich.  He was a retired maintenance mechanic from Ohio Edison Power Plant, a farmer and a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Powhatan Point, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Friend Dietrich, and five sisters, Ethel McDougal, Elaine Gilker,

Elizabeth Dittmar, Lucy and Ida Dietrich.

Survivors include his wife Naomi Henthorne Dietrich, three sons, Ray (Julie) Dietrich of Hernando, Miss, Dale (Sandra) Dietrich of New Matamoras, Ohio and Dennis Dietrich of Sardis, Ohio, two daughters, Dixie (Kenneth) Fuchs of Hannibal, Ohio and Karol (Dan) Forner of Corbett, Oregon, a sister Loretta "Peg" Baumberger of Clarington, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Drive, Clarington, Ohio.  Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Johns U.C.C., 51736 German Ridge Road, Powhatan Point, with Rev. Alex Tychkin and Rev. John Bruce officiating. Interment to follow in St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 51736 German Ridge Road, Powhatan Point, Ohio 43942.

Departed on Oct. 20, 2005 and resided in Canton, OH.

      Dillon , Wavalea A. age 74 of Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sycamore Valley, Ohio in Monroe Co., on January 8, 1931 she was the daughter of the late, Raymond and Mabel Smith.  She was a graduate of Bethel High School and had lived the greater portion of her life in the Canton area. She was a homemaker her entire life and devoted her time to being a loving mother and grandmother. Her love and faith in God was unwavering in life as well as through her illness. She was a long time member of the 38th Street Church of Christ.

      Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dillon who passed away in 1980.

      Survivors include five children and spouses; Jerry and Helen Dillon of North Canton, OH., Kathy and Michael Harris of Canton, OH., David Dillon of Cincinnati, OH., Daniel Dillon of Canton, OH. and Cynthia and John Logan of Massillon, OH. Five grandchildren, Bradley Dillon, Alan Dillon, Robert Dillon, Matthew Logan and Abigail Logan. Her sister, Wilma Cline and brother, Robert Smith both of Marietta, OH.

      Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Minister Lance Lindenberger officiating.  There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and there will be calling hours at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Graysville, Ohio one hour before the graveside service from 2-3 p.m.

      Dougherty, Joseph E., 79, of 109 Brandy Driver, Marietta (formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio), died at 7:15 a.m. Friday (May 6, 2005) in the Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born near Woodsfield on Jan. 5, 1926, a son of the late Harry and Gertrude Stout Dougherty.  He was a former school bus driver and retired laborer of the former Conalco Corp., Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield; and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
           Surviving are his wife, Shirley Pittman Dougherty, whom he married June 23, 1962; one daughter, Denise Ayers and her husband, Tracey, of Marietta; and two twin grandsons, Logan Joseph Ayers and Braedon Charles Ayers, both of Marietta.
           In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Dougherty, and one sister, Martha Brown.
           Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with the Rev. David Gaydosik as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery, Woodsfield. Vigil services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

        WILMA E. DOUGHTY, 71, of  N. Zane Highway Martins Ferry, Ohio , died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at her residence.

        She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on August 17, 1934,  a daughter of the late Hugh  M. and Anna V. (Hails) Phillips.

        In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, John G., Robert Allen, Daniel N, Hugh M. Phillips and a sister, Betty L. Rutan.

        She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Doughty, Sr.; son, Albert  L. Doughty, Jr., Martins Ferry;  two daughters, Lee Doughty, Martins Ferry and Madeline (Anthony) Wilkes, Chesterfield, S.C.; granddaughter, Michelle (Michael) Ristow, Phoenix, Arizona;  great granddaughter, Savannah E. Ristow, Phoenix, Arizona;  step great grandson, Dylon Ristow, Milwaukee, Wi.;  brother, Ronald  R. Phillips, Martins Ferry and  a sister Madeline (Roland) Doughty also of Martins Ferry.

        LINTON — Wilma J. (Cox) Dove, 69, of Linton, died Monday at Bloomington Hospital.

        She had worked at GE in Linton and RCA in Bloomington.

        Survivors include her husband, Walter W. Dove; three sons, Johnny Dove of Bloomfield, Ken Dove of Linton and David Pete Dove of Putnamville; and one sister, Helen, of Linton.

        Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

        There will be no visitation.

        Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton is in charge of arrangements.

        Mrs. Ruth Louise Drury, age 93, of Greenville, formerly of Alma and Naples, Florida, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27, 2005 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice. The daughter of Daniel & Carrie L. (Cunningham) Dickinson, she was born on May 8, 1912 in Stanton. After graduating high school, Ruth attended Alma College and earned her teaching degree. She married Carl Ward Drury on Jan. 4, 1938 in Alma and taught briefly until starting her family.

       A devoted wife and mother, Ruth also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was a fantastic cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl W. Drury; seven brothers and sisters, Blanche Rabus, Lena Bragg, Francis Highfield, William Dickinson, Dale Dickinson, Charles Dickinson, and Warren Dickinson.

        Surviving her with loving memories are three children, Martha L. & Jim Lynett of West Branch, Carla R. Bice of Greenville, and John W. & Beth Drury of Pinckney; a sister, Betty Pegler of Alma; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

        Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate. Honoring Ruths wishes, cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.

    Dulaney, Robert S. (Rob/ Bobby), 35, of Steubenville, died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh.
    Rob was born June 24, 1970 in Bellaire, the son of Doris J. Moore Dulaney Carpenter of Lansing, Ohio and the late Francis Marium Dulaney.
    In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Zammit and a nephew Danny Dulaney.
    Rob was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend, who will never be forgotten. Rob was an avid fan of Steubenville Big Red and a Christian by faith.
    In addition to his mother, Rob is survived by a special companion, April Shafer; two daughters, Brooke Dulaney of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Amber Goff of Elizabethville, W.Va.; one brother, Daniel L. (Sally) Dulaney of Lansing, Ohio; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Connell of Fort Valley, Ga., and Darlene (Mike) Dimmick of Bellaire, Ohio; and a brother-in-law Paul Zammit; two
aunts, Judith Miller of Lansing, and Margaret (Henry) Hartman of Hannibal, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation for Rob will be Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the McClave-Chandler-Mills Funeral Home, 611 N. 4th St., Steubenville. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m at the McClave Chapel, Steubenville, with Pastor Joel Traylor officiating.
    Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Steubenville.

 

Duncan, Robert Neal Duncan

        Robert Neal Duncan, 75, of Cumming, Ga., passed away Sunday morning, April 24, 2005, at his home. He was a chemical engineer with Ormet Corp., where he retired with 36 years of service. He was a member of West Virginia University Alumni Association and the Toastmasters Association. He was a past member of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge and a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Cumming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Celeste* Duncan; brother, Earl Duncan; and granddaughter, Lindsey Marie Marshall.

        He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Louise Sievertson Duncan, Cumming; children and their spouses, Robert Marc and Kimberly Duncan and Jill Duncan Marshall, all of Baton Rouge, Jan Duncan and Michael Steven LeBlanc, Cumming, and Jean Duncan and Neil Allen Carville, Demorest, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Abadie, Valerie Marshall, Britta, Meika, Evan and Ethan LeBlanc, and Sara, Abby and Duncan Carville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Byron "Buzz" Bishop, Ruth Pritsch, and Dorothy and Bernard Young, all of West Virginia; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William and Joy Sievertson, Texas, and Gen. John F. and Anna Lee Sievertson, Florida.

        Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, with the Rev. Chris Andrews officiating. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming, is in charge of arrangements.

*Submitter's Note:  His mother Celesta (Guthrie) Duncan died January 17, 1938, of pulmonary tuberculosis.  His father remarried in October of 1938 to Alma L. Mercer who considered Robert and his sister Ruth as her children.

Durig, Beverly Jane Tallman, age 54, of Hill Street, Sardis, Ohio, died Thursday, July 14, 2005 in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born February 6, 1951, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, the daughter of Madge Smith Tallman Barnes and the late Edwin "Jack" Tallman. She was a Logistic Supervisor with Bayer Corporation of New Martinsville, a member of the Quilting Sisters Quilting Guild, an avid supporter of the Monroe County Relay for Life, and a member of the First Baptist Church, New Martinsville. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather James Barnes, a brother Charles "Chuck" Tallman, a grandmother Dorothy Tallman, and grandparents Jessie and Charles Smith.

Survivors include her husband Paul Durig of Sardis, her mother Madge Smith Tallman Barnes of New Martinsville, loving nieces and nephews including special nieces Sheena Bates of Hagerstown, Maryland and Caitlyn Tallman of New Martinsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4 and 7-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 851 4th Street, New Martinsville with Reverend Don Biram officiating. Interment to follow in Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, West Virginia.
