Lovers' Quarrel Ends
In Death Of Girl, 17
POMONA -- Apparently
despondent over a lovers' quarrel, Donna Sue Truex, 17, of 451 Harrison St.,
Claremont, used a .38 caliber pistol to take her life Wednesday night on a
quiet residential street here.
Police found the girl's body
behind her car parked in the 900 block on east Lexington street. A few minutes
prior, Arline Green of 973 E. Lexington St. had notified police she saw a car
pull to the curb and noticed someone walk to the rear. Seconds later, she heard
a gunshot and called police headquarters.
Detectives Boyd Oliver and
Charles Roland said Donna Sue's right hand still clutched the weapon.
Her boy friend told police
Donna Sue called him after they quarreled and threatened to commit suicide.
"I didn't believe her because she was always threatening to shoot
herself," he said.
Karen Irene Truex, 18, the
dead girl's sister, said Donna slashed her wrists last summer in an attempt to
take her life.
Maynard Truex, a Claremont
College custodian, told police his dead daughter was highly emotional. He also
said he kept his revolver well hidden in their home.
A deputy corner [sic--coroner]
for Los Angeles County ordered the victim's body taken to Todds Mortuary,
Pomona, for an autopsy. Funeral arrangements are to be handled later by
Richardson - Peterson Mortuary, Ontario.
*Submitter's Note: Karen Irene (Mead) Truex, was her
sister-in-law, wife of brother Edgar Eugene Truex. Below is Donna Sue's
